Many reactions of transition metal compounds involve a change in spin. These reactions may proceed faster, slower--or at the same rate as--otherwise equivalent processes in which spin is conserved. For example, ligand substitution in [CpMo(Cl)2(PR3)2] is faster than expected, whereas addition of dinitrogen to [Cp*Mo(Cl)(PMe3)2] is slow. Spin-forbidden oxidative addition of ethylene to [Cp*Ir(PMe3)] occurs competitively with ligand association. To explain these observations, we discuss the shape of the different potential energy surfaces (PESs) involved, and the energy of the minimum energy crossing points (MECPs) between them. This computational approach is of great help in understanding the mechanisms of spin-forbidden reactions, provided that accurate calculations can be used to predict the relevant PESs. Density functional theory, especially using gradient-corrected and hybrid functionals, performs reasonably well for the difficult problem of predicting the energy splitting between different spin states of transition metal complexes, although careful calibration is needed.  相似文献

This work discusses the synthesis and the fragmentation patterns for 2-(p-acetylaminosulfonamido)-2-thiono-(5,5-dimethyl-1,3,2-dioxaphosphorinane)(1) and for the p-acetylaminosulfonylamides of O,O-diethylthiophosphoric acid (2), O,O-diphenylthiophosphoric acid (3), dimethylaminocyclohexylthiophosphoric acid (4), and diethylaminophenylthiophosphoric acid (5). A thionamidic-thiolimidic structure was attributed to compounds 1-5, consistent with their IR and NMR spectra. EI mass spectra at 70 eV, high resolution (HR) mass measurements and metastable ion spectra were used to elucidate the fragmentation processes and to determine the kinetic energy release values associated with the metastable ion dissociations. HR accurate mass measurements were used to confirm the compositions of the more abundant ions.  相似文献

Batch measurements have shown that the collection yields of chitosan for chromium(III), iron(III), nickel, copper(II), zinc and mercury(II) from sulphuric acid solutions are higher when the solutions contain ammonium sulphate, or when chitosan conditioned in ammonium sulphate is used, particularly at pH 3.0 and 5.0. The contrary is verified for the oxy-anions vanadate, chromate and molybdate. Manganese is never collected. At pH 1.0 no collection occurs. A procedure for recycling chromatographic columns includes fixation of Cu or Ni from a sulphate solution at pH 3-5 on sulphate-conditioned chitosan, and elution with 0.1M sulphuric acid/0.1M ammonium sulphate at pH 1.0; the presence of sulphate in the eluent obviates the detrimental effect of sulphuric acid on the next cycle. Sulphate is the favoured counter-ion of the chelated cations and its action produces shorter chromatographic bands. The interaction of sulphate with chitosan is discussed in terms of crystallinity and steric distribution of the protonated amino-groups in the polymer. Data on the new diethylaminohydroxypropylcellulose are included.  相似文献

Conventional figures of merit such as limits of detection, signal to background ratio or repeatability, are used to determine the performance of pneumatic and ultrasonic sample introduction systems in an ultra-clean environment with an axially viewed inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry and multichannel detection. We observed that the ultrasonic nebuliser offered a large improvement of signal intensity (10-133 greater) compared to a cyclone chamber coupled with a pneumatic Meinhard nebuliser. This improvement is associated with an average increase of signal to background ratio by a factor 86 and an average decrease of detection limits by a factor 6. The improvement factors generally depend on the element and for the same element on spectral lines. Typically, the observed values of detection limits in this work are lower than those published and obtained in non-ultra-clean conditions. The results emphasize that the environmental conditions of cleaning and analysis are essential to avoid and control cross contamination of the samples and hence to obtain low detection limits.  相似文献

Through cross-flow filtration (CFF) with a 1-kDa regenerated cellulose Pellicon 2 module, the ultrafiltration characteristics of river organic matter from Longford Stream, UK, were investigated. The concentration of organic carbon (OC) in the retentate in the Longford Stream samples increased substantially with the concentration factor (cf), reaching approximately 40 mg/L at cf 15. The results of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and colloidal organic carbon (COC) analysis, tracking the isolation of colloids from river waters, show that 2 mg/L of COC was present in those samples and good OC mass balance (77-101%) was achieved. Fluorescence measurements were carried out for the investigation of retentate and permeate behaviour of coloured dissolved organic materials (CDOM). The concentrations of CDOM in both the retentate and permeate increased with increasing cf, although CDOM were significantly more concentrated in the retentate. The permeation model expressing the correlation between log[CDOM] in the permeate and logcf was able to describe the permeation behaviour of CDOM in the river water with regression coefficients (r(2)) of 0.94 and 0.98. Dry weight analysis indicated that the levels of organic colloidal particles were from 49 to 71%, and between 29 and 51% of colloidal particles present were inorganic. COC as a percentage of DOC was found to be 10-16% for Longford Stream samples.  相似文献

The dynamics of excited states of adsorbates on surfaces caused by charge transfer is studied. Both negative and positive charge transfer processes are possible. In particular we are interested in positive charge transfer from a metal surface to molecular or atomic oxygen adsorbed on the surface. Once the negatively charged oxygen on the surface loses an electron it becomes chemically activated. The ability of this species to react depends on the quenching time or back transfer. The analysis of these processes is based on a set of diabatic potential energy surfaces each representing a different charged oxygen species. The dynamics is followed by solving the multichannel time-dependent Schr?dinger equation or Liouville von Neumann equation. Due to the nonadiabatic character of these reactions large isotope effects are predicted.  相似文献

The bonding environment of boron is usually thought about in terms of localized 2c-2e/3c-2e bonding (as in diborane) or completely delocalized polyhedral bonding (as in B(12)H(12)(2)(-)). Recently, a number of boron compounds having a rhomboidal B(4) framework have been synthesized; these show an amazing variation in their skeletal electron count, one that cannot be interpreted in familiar ways. In this report, we systematically explore the origin of the range of electron counts in these compounds. We find that four skeletal MOs are primarily responsible for keeping the B(4) skeleton together. As a subunit in a macropolyhedral environment, termed rhombo-B(4), such an arrangement of B atoms deviates from Wade's rule by three electron pairs (if treated as a distorted arachno system derived from B(6)H(6)(2)(-)). Aided by this analysis, we examine the nature of bonding in Na(3)B(20), where the rhombo-B(4) unit forms linear chains fusing closo-B(7) units. Theory suggests that this structure requires one more electron per formula unit for optimal bonding. Finally, we study the nature of bonding in beta-SiB(3), where silicon atoms also adopt the rhomboid framework.  相似文献

A series of polyoxomolybdate-incorporated organometallic complexes has been obtained by reaction of [MBr(CO)5] or solvated M(CO)3+ ions (M = Mn or Br) with (nBu4N)2[Mo2O7] in methanol, sometimes in the presence of triols of the type RC(CH2OH)3 (R = Me or CH2OH). Their molecular structures are related to those of previously described polyoxoalkoxomolybdates through the formal replacement of fac-MoO2(OR)+ units by topologically equivalent fac-M(CO)3+ units. Representative pairs of structurally related clusters include [Mo2O6(OMe)4-Re(CO)32]2- and [Mo4O10(OMe)6]2-, [Mo2O4MeC(CH2O)32Mn(CO)3]- and [Mo3O6(OMe)MeC(CH2O)32]-, [Mo2O4HOCH2C(CH2O)32Mn(CO)32] and [Mo4O8(OEt)2MeC(CH2O)32], [Mo6O16(OMe)2MeC(CH2O)32-Mn(CO)32]2- and [Mo8O20(OMe)4-MeC(CH2O)32]2-. Although the frameworks of the majority of derivatives are based on tetranuclear units which display the common rhomb-like structure, the alternative cubane-type arrangement is observed in [Mo2O5(OMe)5M(CO)32]-.  相似文献
