Are Hetero-metallapentalenes Aromatic or Not? A DFT Investigation

Aromaticity is one of the most basic concepts in organic chemistry. The planar Möbius aromatic metallapentalynes and metallapentalenes have attracted considerable attention in the past few years. However, the aromaticity of metallapentalenes containing heteroatoms (such as B, N, and O), termed as hetero-metallapentalenes, is rarely studied. Herein, the stability and aromaticity of a series of hetero-metallapentalenes are theoretically investigated. The results reveal lower aromaticity in metallaborapentalene, comparable aromaticity in metallazapentalene, and nonaromaticity in metalloxapentalene relative to that of metallapentalene. Moreover, the effect of Lewis bases on the aromaticity and stability of metallaborapentalene is discussed. These results provide useful information for experimental chemists to realize more hetero-metallapentalenes.     

Cycloaddition Reactions of an Active Cyclic Phosphane/Borane Pair with Alkenes,Alkynes, and Carbon Dioxide

The active six-membered cyclo-FLP 6 undergoes a rapid P/B addition reaction to carbon dioxide. At elevated temperature, the resulting heterobicyclo[2.2.2]octane derived product 7 undergoes ring opening and equilibrates with the cyclotetramer (7)₄ . In the large macrocyclic structure, four monomeric six-membered cyclo-FLP units are connected by four CO₂ molecules to form the supramolecular ring system. The P/B cyclo-FLP 6 undergoes a variety of additional cycloaddition reactions.

One-step method for preparing the experimental pure state in nuclear magnetic resonance

Quantum computing is an emerging and promising research field in modern quantum physics and is committed to accelerating traditional calculation processes using the principle of quantum mechanics[1,2].Several computation models have been proposed,including the circuit model[3],topologic quantum computation[4],adiabatic quantum computing[5],and duality quantum computing[6-8].Universal quantum computation generally includes a system initialization,evolutionary control,and a final-state readout[9],where the preparation of the initial state is a key step in the entire process.     

N-substituted-3(10H)-acridones as visible-light photosensitizers for organic photoredox catalysis

N-Substituted-3(10H)-acridones have been established as visible-light organic photocatalyst. These photosensitizers are efficient for oxidative coupling reaction of N-aryl tetrahydroisoquinolines with various nucleophiles. Notably, N-methyl-3(10H)-acridone (Ia) is stable and can be effectively prepared. It is a water-soluble and atom-economic catalyst, and thus holds promise for green chemical applications. Mechanistic studies confirm a single electron transfer (SET)-induced radical process and a rate-limiting step. Analysis of the photocatalytic reactivity?structure relationship reveals that the acridones are robust and tunable photosensitizers for photoredox catalysis.     

DYNAMICS OF A NONLINEAR NON-AUTONOMOUS n-PATCHES PREDATOR-PREY DISPERSION-DELAY MODEL

In this paper,a nonlinear nonautonomous predator-prey dispersion model with continuous distributed delay is studied,where all parameters are time-dependent.In this system consisting of n-patches the prey species can disperse among n-patches,but the predator species is confined to one patch and cannot disperse.It is proved that the system is uniformly persistent under any dispersion rate effect.Furthermore,some sufficient conditions are established for the existence of a unique almost periodic solution of the system.The example shows that the criteria in the paper are new,general and easily verifiable.     

Perfect transmission of spin waves in a one-dimensional magnonic quasicrystal

Existence of the perfect transmission resonances of spin waves in a one-dimensional Thue–Morse magnonic quasicrystal is proposed. We find that occurrence of the perfect transmission just corresponds to the repeated bandedges in the bandedge map. Frequencies at the perfect transmissions for system with arbitrary generation order can be predicted by the bandedge map of the second and third order systems using two iterative schemes. These results show that density of the perfect transmission resonance increases exponentially for increasing the order of the system. However, the perfect transmissions are kept for higher order systems even if the peaks become denser.     

Some sufficient conditions for tunnel numbers of connected sum of two knots not to go down

In this paper, we show the following result: Let K _i be a knot in a closed orientable 3-manifold M _i such that (M _i ,K _i ) is not homeomorphic to (S ₂ ×S ₁, x ₀ ×S ₁), i = 1, 2. Suppose that the Euler Characteristic of any meridional essential surface in each knot complement E(K _i ) is less than the difference of one and twice of the tunnel number of K _i . Then the tunnel number of their connected sum will not go down. If in addition that the distance of any minimal Heegaard splitting of each knot complement is strictly more than 2, then the tunnel number of their connected sum is super additive.
