Superquenching acridinium ester chemiluminescence by gold nanoparticles for DNA detection

It was found that the chemiluminescence of acridinium ester (AE) was quenched effectively by gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) with Stern-Volmer constants approaching 10(10) M(-1), which was exploited to realize sequence-specific DNA detection based on the preferential absorption of AE-tagged single-strand probe on unmodified AuNPs over the hybrids of probe and target DNA.     

The heavy atom effect on photocleavage of DNA by mono-hydroxyl halogenated corroles

<正>DNA photocleavage properties of halogenated mono-hydroxyl corrole 1-5 were investigated.It was found that these corroles were able to photocleavage supercoiled pBR 322 DNA(SC) into nicked-circular DNA(NC).The activity of these corroles follows an order of 432≈15.The photosensitized singlet oxygen(Φ_△) quantum yield by these corroles also follows that same order,showing the photocleavage activity is related to the heavy atom effect of halogen atoms on corroles.     

Two new furostanol saponins from Tribulus terrestris L.

<正>Two new furostanol glycoside,26-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(25S)-5α-furost-3β,22α,26-triol-3-O-β-D-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→4)]-β-D-galactopyranoside(1) and 26-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(25S)-5α-furost-20(22)-en-2α,3β,26-triol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→2)-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-galactopyranoside(2) were isolated fromthe fruits of Tribulus terrestris L.The structures of two new furostanol saponins were elucidated by spectroscopic methods.     

A new nine-membered lactone from a marine fungus Cladosporium sp. F14

A new nine-membered lactone, cladospolide E (1), was isolated from a culture broth of a marine fungus Cladosporium sp. F14. The structure of compound 1 was determined on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis, including 1D and 2D NMR data.       

Assigning carbon-13 NMR spectra to crystal structures by the INADEQUATE pulse sequence and first principles computation: a case study of two forms of testosterone

A (13)C CPMAS NMR experiment at high field (11.7 T) has produced significantly improved dispersion for the alpha form of testosterone, allowing revisions and extensions to be made to the assignments. Correlations shown by an INADEQUATE two-dimensional spectrum, recorded at 16.5 T, have allowed the components of most of the doublet signals to be grouped into two sets (for the two crystallographically independent molecules). First-principles computations, employing a fully solid-state approach, have been used to obtain values for the crystallographic splittings, which are discussed in relation to the experimental values. This procedure enables assignments to the two groups to be suggested for all but one of the remaining doublet signals. It also allows the two sets of signals to be identified specifically to the two independent molecules in the crystal structure. Computations were also carried out for the beta form of testosterone (a dihydrate). The shift differences between the alpha and beta forms were compared with the experimental data, with encouraging results. Comparisons were also made between computed and experimental shielding anisotropies and asymmetries for three of the carbons of the alpha form. The methodology has a high potential for future applications, though more examples need to be evaluated before general conclusions can be drawn.     

An examination of factors contributing to South Korea’s global leadership in broadband adoption

The present study explores the economic and public policy factors that have contributed South Korea’s global leadership in broadband adoption. In particular, the authors explore the economic and public policy factors shaping telecommunication development in South Korea, employing a conceptual framework that explicates a triangular relationship between the government, service providers, and users.

Data used in the study are based on government statistics, company-published information, and secondary sources. Our analysis suggests that (1) the Korean government’s cyber vision plan has provided an open market that encourages competition, as the dramatic growth of the broadband market in Korea is the culmination of appropriate government policy, growing demand, and fierce market competition based on responsive supply, and (2) operators can benefit from consolidation as well as multiple revenue sources generated by new services in order to remain competitive.     

Nano-CaCO_3表面性能对PA6/EPDM/Nano-CaCO_3三元复合材料形态和性能的影响

采用两步法工艺,即三元乙丙橡胶(EPDM)与纳米碳酸钙(nano-CaCO3)先混炼,再与聚酰胺6(PA6)熔融挤出,制得PA6/EPDM/nano-CaCO3三元复合材料。其中nano-CaCO3分别采用三种不同表面处理剂(硅烷偶联剂A151、钛酸酯偶联剂NDZ105和硬脂酸)进行处理。通过接触角测量分析了nano-CaCO3的表面性能,并利用扫描电子显微镜(SEM)研究了三元复合材料的形态。研究结果表明,nano-CaCO3经A151、NDZ105和硬脂酸处理后,其与水的接触角分别从未经表面改性剂处理的nano-CaCO3的65.7°提高到70.9°、109.4°和117.4°。未经表面改性剂处理的nano-CaCO3与EPDM各自独立分散在PA6基体中,经A151处理的nano-CaCO3大多分散在PA6基体与EPDM的界面上,经NDZ105和硬脂酸处理的nano-CaCO3则分散在EPDM相,形成"沙袋结构"。nano-CaCO3经A151、NDZ105和硬脂酸处理后,PA6三元复合材料的冲击强度分别从采用未经表面改性剂处理的nano-CaCO3制备的三元复合材料的25 kJ/m2提高到48 kJ/m2、45 kJ/m2和52 kJ/m2。另外,含有"沙袋结构"粒子的三元复合材料通过微纤化断裂方式耗散外界作用能。     

Improvements in confocal microscopy imaging using serrated divided apertures

Confocal microscopy with serrated divided apertures is presented. Compared with using two smooth D-shaped apertures in confocal microscopy, the serrated divided apertures can suppress the out-of-focus central bright spot, thus increasing the efficiency of rejection of scattered light. Diffraction analysis shows that the serrated apertures maintain the optical sectioning strength while attenuating the background coming from far from the focal plane. In addition, the signal to background ratio (S/B) is also improved.
