Wavelength conversion via four-wave mixing in an optical fiber is investigated under a pump intensity dependent phase-matching condition. To obtain a high conversion gain, we use a fiber with a small mode-field diameter (4.2 /spl mu/m) and a small dispersion slope (0.0307 ps/km/nm/sup 2/). When the signal wavelength is set so that it is 9.2 nm longer than the zero-dispersion wavelength of the fiber, we obtain a wavelength conversion gain of greater than 5 dB over a pump wavelength region of more than 8 nm. 相似文献

It is shown by computer runs and simple analysis that one hundred million km soliton transmission is possible by means of soliton transmission controls in the time and frequency domains. This means that limitless transmission is possible. The key to success is to reduce noise by the synchronous modulation technique which can also reduce timing jitter and nonlinear interaction forces. The authors propose an image processing-based approach towards the development of a super-high-resolution image acquisition system. Imaging methods based on this approach can be classified into two main categories: a spatial integration imaging method and a temporal integration imaging method. With regard to the spatial integration imaging method, the authors have previously presented a method for acquiring an improved-resolution image by integrating multiple images taken simultaneously with multiple different cameras. They develop their work, aiming at a particular class of application where a user indicates a region of interest (ROI) on an observed image in advance, and apply a prototypal temporal integration imaging method. The prototypal temporal integration imaging method does not involve global image segmentation, but uses a subpixel registration algorithm which describes an image warp within the ROI, with subpixel accuracy, as a deformation of quadrilateral patches. The method then performs a subpixel registration by warping an observed image with the warping function recovered from the deformed quadrilateral patches. In this study, a fast, simple and highly sensitive method that employs liquid phase microextraction (LPME)-GC/MS was developed to analyze trace benzophenones (BPs) in river-water samples. The tip of a 10-microl microsyringe filled with toluene (3 microl) was inserted into 2 ml of a river-water sample, and fixed at 5 mm below the water surface of the sample. A toluene droplet was made on the tip of the syringe, and extraction was conducted while agitating at 500 rpm for 15 min. After extraction, 2.0 microl of the extract was put into the syringe again, and directly introduced to GC/MS. The limits of detection (S/N = 3) and quantification (S/N >10) of BPs were 10 and 50 pg ml(-1), respectively. The results of a recovery test ranged over 93.3 - 101.1% (RSD, less than 10%; n = 6). The results of BPs determinations in the river-water samples showed that BPs (ND - 68.9 pg ml(-1)) were detected. 相似文献

We have developed a circuit for determining an optimal supply voltage, VOPT, for which energy consumption will be minimized in devices suffering from high-leakage. This VOPT is determined on the basis of a trade-off between power consumption and operation time. Experimental results with a 90-nm CMOS device indicate that the proposed circuit successfully determines VOPT with high accuracy. VOPT operations with power gating at 40 MHz, and where VDD = 0.67 V, results in an energy reduction of 52.8% over that achieved with DVFS alone at 5 MHz (1/20 of maximum operational frequency).
