The conformations of three analogues of baclofen 1: phaclofen, saclofen, and hydroxy-saclofen 2–4, potent GABAB antagonists, in solution (D2O) are estimated from high-resolution (300 MHz) H NMR coupling data. Conformations and populations of conformers are calculated by means of a modified Karplus-like relationship for the vicinal coupling constants. H NMR spectral analysis evidences how 1–3 keep in solution the preferred a conformation around C3-C4 bond. A partial rotation is set up around C2–C3 bond (the conformations about C2–C3 are all highly populated in solution) particularly for 2 and 3 while 1 shows a relative preferred a conformation. By combining X-ray diffraction under grazing incidence (GIXD) and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) measurements, we have determined the structure of 4-n-octyl-4-cyanobiphenyl (8CB) molecules adsorbed on MoS2, under the thick organic film. The commensurability of the adsorbed network and the unit cell structure have been determined, revealing a complex 2D structure. This structure is characterized by straight ribbons with two types of ribbons, alternatively stacked. In one type, molecules are equally spaced, as they are paired in the other type. Considering the energetics of adsorption with a model of single ribbon, we recover the two observed ribbon structures. The alternate stacking of the ribbons appears as a consequence of the connection between the commensurabilities in the two main crystallographic directions. Moreover, we have found a particularly high value for the molecule-substrate potential corrugations, indicating that the dipole moment of 8CB molecules could play a fundamental role in the molecule-substrate interactions.Received: 1 April 2004, Published online: 29 June 2004PACS:

Piezo-driven inkjet systems are very sensitive to air entrapment. The entrapped air bubbles grow by rectified diffusion in the ink channel and finally result in nozzle failure. Experimental results on the dynamics of fully grown air bubbles are presented. It is found that the bubble counteracts the pressure buildup necessary for the droplet formation. The channel acoustics and the air bubble dynamics are modeled. For good agreement with the experimental data it is crucial to include the confined geometry into the model: The air bubble acts back on the acoustic field in the channel and thus on its own dynamics. This two-way coupling limits further bubble growth and thus determines the saturation size of the bubble. 相似文献

We study the behavior of feedback bridging faults with non-zero bridge resistance in both combinational and sequential circuits. We demonstrate that a test vector may detect the fault, not detect the fault or lead to oscillation, depending on bridge resistance. Moreover, the resistance intervals in which a particular behavior is observed are not necessarily contiguous. We demonstrate non-trivial behavior for situations in which a detection seems impossible, namely disabled loops going through a gate with controlling values on its side inputs.We outline the multiple strengths problem which arises due to the fact that a critical bridge resistance depends on the strengths of the signals driving the bridge, which in turn are functions of the number of the on-transistors, these again depending on the bridge resistance, making such a fault very hard to resolve. For sequential circuits, we describe additional difficulties caused by the need to account for implications on bridge behavior, which have originated in the previous time frames. We conclude that the complexity of resistive feedback bridging fault simulation accurate enough to resolve such situations will probably be prohibitively high and propose possible simplifying assumptions. With the advent of non-hierarchical routing in circuit-switched telecommunication networks, on-line routing policies have been developed with the objective of optimizing some measure of gain or performance. These policies are decentralized. However, traditional planning models are centralized models. We present a decentralized routing model to be used in network planning. We compare it theoretically and empirically with a centralized multicommodity flow model previously presented. The two models are solved by the same type of algorithm, a convex simplex implementation, adapted differently according to the model. Comparative results between planning models reproducing the two policies are discussed. 相似文献

Due to the rapid development of IC technology the traditional packaging concepts are making a transition into more complex system integration techniques in order to enable the constantly increasing demand for more functionality, performance and miniaturisation. These new concepts will have to combine smaller structures and layers made of new materials with even higher reliability. As these structures will more and more display nano-features, a coupled experimental and simulative approach has to account for this development to assure design for reliability in the future. A necessary “nano-reliability” approach as a scientific discipline has to encompass research on the properties and failure behaviour of materials and material interfaces under explicit consideration of their nano-structure and the effects hereby induced. It uses nano-analytical methods in simulation and experiment to consistently describe failure mechanisms on that length scale for more accurate and physically motivated lifetime prediction models for use on a larger (i.e. then the micro) scale. This paper deals with the thermo-mechanical reliability of microelectronic components and systems and methods to analyse and predict it. Various methods are presented to enable lifetime prediction on system, component and material level, the latter introducing the field of nano-reliability for nano-packaging in advanced electronics system integration. 相似文献
