A comparison between various recommended reference standards of diffuse reflectance in the IR is presented. It is shown that at a wavelength of 10.6 μm sulfur is the most Lambertian of the tested samples, although its powdery consistence makes it less suitable for use as a standard. Flame sprayed aluminum, with or without gold coating, also approaches a Lambertian surface and is suitable for use as a standard for BRDF measurements at 10.6 μm. Results for the BRDF of sulfur, gold-coated sandpaper, a commercial diffuse gold surface (by Labsphere) and flame sprayed aluminum are presented.  相似文献

Inclusion is the meaningful participation of students with disabilities in general education classrooms. The CLASS project (Creating Laboratory Access for Science Students) is a unique initiative offering training and resources to help educators provide students with a variety of physical, sensory and learning disabilities equal access in the science laboratory or field. To determine whether participants believed a 2‐week residential workshop sponsored by CLASS raised disability awareness and provided teacher training in inclusive science teaching practice, a multipoint Likert scale survey and questionnaire was completed by all participants (N= 20) in four workshops. Participants reported large gains in their preparedness to teach science to students with disabilities. Participants also reported gains in their familiarity with instructional strategies, curricula, and resources and their ability to design, select, and modify activities for students with disabilities. Finally, shifts in attitudes about teaching science to students with disabilities were noted.  相似文献

A series of alkanethiol monolayers (CH 3(CH 2) n-1 SH, n = 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16) were used to modify gold source-drain electrode surfaces for bottom-contact poly(3,3'-didodecylquaterthiophene) (PQT-12) thin-film transistors (TFTs). The device mobilities of TFTs were significantly increased from approximately 0.015 cm (2) V (-1) s (-1) for bare electrode TFTs to a maximum of approximately 0.1 cm (2) V (-1) s (-1) for the n = 8 monolayer devices. The mobilities of devices with alkanethiol-modified Au electrodes varied parabolically with alkyl length with values of 0.06, 0.1, and 0.04 cm (2) V (-1) s (-1) at n = 4, 8, and 16, respectively. Atomic force microscopy investigations reveal that alkanethiol electrode surface modifications promote polycrystalline PQT-12 morphologies at electrode/PQT-12 contacts, which probably increase the density of states of the PQT-12 semiconductor at the interfaces. The contact resistance of TFTs is strongly modulated by the surface modification and strongly varies with the alkanethiol chain length. The surface modifications of electrodes appear to significantly improve the charge injection, with consequent substantial improvement in device performance.  相似文献

Glycans arrayed on the exterior of virus particles were used as substrates for glycosyltransferase reactions to build di- and trisaccharides from the virus surface. The resulting particles exhibited tight and specific associations with cognate receptors on beads and cells, in one example defeating in cis cell-surface interactions in a manner characteristic of polyvalent binding. Combined with the ability of viruses to provide structurally well-defined attachment points, the methodology provides a convenient and powerful way to prepare complex carbohydrate ligands for clustered receptors.  相似文献

A sensitive and selective bioanalytical assay was developed and validated for the determination of enantiomeric molindone in human plasma using high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry along with supported liquid extraction procedures. The chiral separation was evaluated and optimized on macrocyclic antibiotic type chiral stationary phases (CSPs) based on teicoplanin aglycone (Chirobiotic TAG) in polar organic, polar ionic, and reversed-phase mode chromatography, respectively. Complete baseline separation was achieved on a Chirobiotic TAG column under isocratic condition in reversed-phase chromatography. The method validation was conducted using a Chirobiotic TAG column (100 mm x 2.1 mm) over the curve range 0.100-100 ng/ml for each molindone enantiomer using 0.0500 ml of plasma sample. The flow rate was 0.8 ml/min and the total run time was 9 min. Supported liquid extraction in a 96-well plate format was used for sample preparation. Parameters including recovery, matrix effect, linearity, sensitivity, specificity, carryover, precision, accuracy, dilution integrity, and stability were evaluated. l-Arabinose is one of the sugars found in hemicellulose, a major component of plant cell walls. The ability to convert l-arabinose to ethanol would improve the economics of biomass to ethanol fermentations. One of the limitations for l-arabinose fermentation in the current engineered Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains is poor transport of the sugar. To better understand l-arabinose transport and use in yeasts and to identify a source for efficient l-arabinose transporters, 165 non-Saccharomyces yeast strains were studied. These yeast strains were arranged into six groups based on the minimum time required to utilize 20 g/L of l-arabinose. Initial transport rates of l-arabinose were determined for several species and a more comprehensive transport study was done in four selected species. Detailed transport kinetics in Arxula adeninivorans suggested both low and high affinity components while Debaryomyces hansenii var. fabryii, Kluyveromyces marxianus and Pichia guilliermondii possessed a single component, high affinity active transport systems.  相似文献

When N-[2-(alkylsulfinyl)phenyl]-1H-indole-2-carboxamides with varying degrees of indolic and amidic N-alkylation are heated in an inert solvent or treated with trifluoroacetic anhydride; only compounds in which the amidic nitrogen is methylated cyclize to indolo[3,2-b]-1,5-benzothiazepinones (9, 10). Successful cyclization is attributed to the ability of N-Me amides to readily adopt a conformation conducive to cyclization, which other derivatives are unable to achieve. The analogous 3-indoleanilide, N,N-dimethyl N-[2-(ethylsulfinyl)phenyl]-1H-indole-3-carboxamide (17a), undergoes SES/rearrangement to produce 10 upon heating in p-xylene. An intermediate 3H-indolinium spirocyclic species is proposed to account for this result.  相似文献

The dynamic kinetic resolution of racemic mixtures of tropic acid ethyl ester under substrate racemizing conditions was studied using lipase PS with a ruthenium catalyst. Isopropenyl acetate was used as an acyl donor, since it was found to be compatible with both catalysts; this resulted in an efficient dynamic kinetic resolution. With this process, a variety of racemic tropic acid ethyl esters were transformed to optically active acetoxy-2-arylpropionic acid ethyl esters with 60-88% yields and 53-92% ee.  相似文献

Nuclear resonance vibrational spectra have been obtained for six five-coordinate imidazole-ligated iron(II) porphyrinates, [Fe(Por)(L)] (Por = tetraphenylporphyrinate, octaethylporphyrinate, tetratolylporphyrinate, or protoporphyrinate IX and L = 2-methylimidazole or 1,2-dimethylimidazole). Measurements have been made on both powder and oriented crystal samples. The spectra are dominated by strong signals around 200-300 cm(-1). Although the in-plane and out-of-plane vibrations are seriously overlapped, oriented crystal spectra allow their deconvolution. Thus, oriented crystal experimental data, along with density functional theory (DFT) calculations, enable the assignment of key vibrations in the spectra. Molecular dynamics are also discussed. The nature of the Fe-N(Im) vibrations has been elaborated further than was possible from resonance Raman studies. Our study suggests that the Fe motions are coupled with the porphyrin core and peripheral groups motions. Both peripheral groups and their conformations have significant influence on the vibrational spectra (position and shape).  相似文献
