Synthesis of 2-Azobenzo[b]thiophene Derivatives and Their Application on Nylon Fibre

A series of novel monoazo disperse dyes derived from the coupling of diazotized 2-aminobenzo[b]thiophene derivatives with N-arylmaleimides is described. The monoazo disperse dyes applied to nylon fabric and their dyeing performance has been assessed. These dyes have been found to give light yellow to reddish pink color shades with very good depth and levelness on nylon fabric. The dyed fabric shows moderate light fastness and excellent washing, rubbing, perspiration, and sublimation fastness. The percentage dyebath exhaustion on nylon fabric has been found to be good and acceptable.     

Tetrabutylammonium tribromide (TBATB)-MeOH: An efficient chemoselective reagent for the cleavage of tert-butyldimethylsilyl (TBDMS) ethers

TBDMS, THP, and DMT ethers are efficiently deprotected with tetrabutylammonium tribromide in methanol. The apparent order of stability of different protecting group is phenolic TBDMS > 1 degrees OTBDPS > 2 degrees OTBDMS > 2 degrees OTHP > 1 degrees OTHP > 1 degrees OTBDMS > 1 degrees ODMT. TBDMS ether has been cleaved selectively in the presence of isopropylidine, Bn, Ac, Bz, THP, and TBDPS groups. This method is high yielding, fast, clean, safe, cost-effective, and therefore most suitable for practical organic synthesis.     

Small-angle x-ray investigation of a densely packed micelle system in agave hybrid

Small-angle x-ray scattering methods were applied to calculate macromolecular parameters like specific inner surface (O/V), length of coherence (l_c), and the percentage of air present in agave hybrid, treating it as a densely packed colloidal system belonging to a general micelle system. The parameters were equal to O/V = 8.50 × 10^?6 Å^?1, l_c = 150 Å, and the percentage of air = 0.03. The Kratky camera with latest design was used for the experimental measurement. Because the sample agave ybrid is a natural fiber and a highly oriented system that is celluosic in character, the theories of Kratky and Porod have been used to evaluate these parameters.     

Enantiomerically pure alpha-amino acid synthesis via hydroboration-suzuki cross-coupling

The Garner aldehyde-derived methylene alkene 5 and the corresponding benzyloxycarbonyl compound 25 undergo hydroboration with 9-BBN-H followed by palladium-catalyzed Suzuki coupling reactions with aryl and vinyl halides. After one-pot hydrolysis-oxidation, a range of known and novel nonproteinogenic amino acids were isolated as their N-protected derivatives. These novel organoborane homoalanine anion equivalents are generated and transformed under mild conditions and with wide functional group tolerance: electron-rich and -poor aromatic iodides and bromides (and a vinyl bromide) all undergo efficient Suzuki coupling. The extension of this methodology to prepare meso-DAP, R,R-DAP, and R,R-DAS is also described.     

Efficient oxidizing methods for the synthesis of oxandrolone intermediates

Mild, efficient and eco-friendly oxidation of 17alpha-methylandrostan-3beta-17beta-diol (1) has been studied with three different reagents viz. pentavalent iodine reagent 2-iodoxy benzoic acid (IBX) in DMSO at 65 degrees C, sodium hypochlorite and H2O2/Na2WO4 under phase transfer conditions to give 17beta-hydroxy-17alpha-methylandrostan-3-one (mestanolone 2), a drug intermediate as oxidized product. The H2O2/Na2WO4/PTC gave mestanolone in high yield and purity whereas sodium hypochlorite/PTC system yielded some chlorinated material along with the mestanolone. However, 1 with 2.5 equivalent of IBX gave 17beta-hydroxy-17alpha-methyl-Delta1-androsten-3-one (3) under the similar reaction conditions in good yield and single step reaction.     

An efficient synthesis of 4,5-dihydronaphtho[2,1-b]furan through a novel ring transformation of 2H-pyran-2-one

An innovative route for the synthesis of substituted naphtho[2,1-b]furan has been delineated through a ring transformation reaction of suitably functionalized 2H-pyran-2-ones by reaction with 6,7-dihydro-5H-benzofuran-4-one, in good yield.     

Solvatochromism and piezochromism of pentacyanoferrate(II) complexes in binary aqueous solvent media

Summary The solvatochromic behaviour of a number of pentacyano-ferrates (II), [Fe^II(CN)₅L] ^n-, is described, for solutions in H₂O-alcohol, -Me₂CO and -DMSO mixtures. The strong dependence of solvent sensitivity on the nature of the ligand L is particularly fully documented for H₂OMeOH mixtures (0–100% MeOH). The piezochromic behaviour of seven pentacyanoferrates(II) has been established, in aqueous solution. The connection between piezochromism and solvatochromism is detailed, and the solvatochromic results discussed in terms of (preferential) solvation.     

Condensed cyclic and bridged-ring systems : part 12: A novel synthetic route to 4-p-methoxyphenyl-bicyclo[ 2.2.2 ]octan-2-ones and some bicyclo [ 3.2.1 ] octane derivatives by acid-catalyzed intramolecula

The efficacy of a new acid-catalyzed intramolecular C-alkylation has been demonstrated by the synthesis of 1-methyl-4-$\text{p}$-methoxyphenylbicyclo [2.2.2] octan-2-one ($\text{5}$) and 4-$\text{p}$-methoxyphenylbicyclo [2.2.2] octan-2-one ($\text{6}$) from easily accessible starting materials. The carbinol $\text{20}$, derived from $\text{5}$, undergoes facile rearrangement leading to 1-$\text{p}$-methoxyphenyl-4-methyl bicyclo [3.2.1] oct-3-ene ($\text{22}$), which has been transformed to $\text{endo}$-1-$\text{p}$-methoxyphenyl-4-methylbicyclo [3.2.1] octan-3-one ($\text{25}$).     

Inclusive ϱ0,K *±(892) andf production in\bar p p Interactions at 12 GeV/c

Inclusive production of ?⁰,K ^*±(892), andf is studied in \(\bar p\) p interactions at 12 GeV/c. The inclusive cross sections for ?⁰,K ^*±(892), andf are found to be 6.7±0.3 mb, 1.0±0.2 mb, and 1.4±0.3 mb, respectively. The differential cross sections are presented as a function of c.m. rapidity, Feynmanx and square of the transverse momentump _T ² . Comparison with the correspondingpp data shows some interesting differences which can be attributed to the \(\bar p\) p annihilation. The results are compared with the predictions of the quark fusion model.     

Stable identification of nonlinear systems using neural networks: theory and experiments

This paper presents an approach for stable identification of multivariable nonlinear system dynamics using a multilayer feedforward neural network. Unlike most of the previous neural network identifiers, the proposed identifier is based on a nonlinear-in-parameters neural network (NLPNN). Therefore, it is applicable to systems with higher degrees of nonlinearities. Both parallel and series-parallel models are used with no a priori knowledge about the system dynamics. The method can be considered both as an online identifier that can be used as a basis for designing a neural network controller as well as an offline learning scheme for monitoring the system states. A novel approach is proposed for the weight updating mechanism based on the modification of the backpropagation (BP) algorithm. The stability of the overall system is shown using Lyapunov's direct method. To demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm, an experimental setup consisting of a three-link macro-micro manipulator (M/sup 3/) is considered. The proposed approach is applied to identify the dynamics of the experimental robot. Experimental and simulation results are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed learning scheme.
