We show that the wide distribution of time constants required to explain 1/ƒ noise in MOSFETs arises as a natural consequence of the multi-phonon model of carrier trapping into individual Si-SiO2 interface states. A new class of random telegraph signal found in the drain current of small-area silicon MOSFETs is described. These signals are a result of defect metastability and are shown to be a source of non-Gaussian noise.  相似文献

The site occupation of indium solutes in Ni2Al3-type compounds was determined using perturbed angular correlation of gamma rays. Measurements were made for compositions on both sides of the stoichiometric composition. Sites were identified through their quadrupole interactions. For transition-metal (TM) rich aluminides and galliumides, indium solutes occupy only one of two inequivalent trivalent-metal sites (Al or Ga). For TM-poor aluminides, indium solutes tend to locate at noncrystallographic sites such as in grain boundaries. For TM-poor galliumides, the solutes occupy nickel sites while close to the stoichiometric composition they also occupy sites on an empty Ni-sublattice. Composition dependences of site preference for indium solutes in Pt2Al3 and Ni2Ga3 are examined in terms of a recently developed thermodynamic model. New thermosetting materials were developed for reworkable adhesive applications by introducing acetal ester groups as thermally degradable linkages into maleimide compounds. The synthesis of compounds containing maleimide functionality and acetal ester linkages was conducted by a one‐step neat reaction from commercially available materials. The polymerization process and thermal degradation of the synthesized materials were studied. It was found that the acetal ester linkage degraded rapidly above 225 °C, and introduction of this linkage into the adhesive formulation led to improved reworkability of adhesively bonded substrates. High purity Pt, Ni, Cu, Fe and Al metal foils were electroplated with carrier-free111In probe atoms and melted at 293 K using 32 ns ruby laser pulses with energy densities in the range 1–10 J cm−2. Three distinct lattice locations of the probe atoms were detected in the melted surface layers using perturbed γ-γ angular correlation spectroscopy: (i) defect-free substitutional sites, (ii) non-unique sites with broad distributions of quadrupole interactions, and (iii) a probemonovacancy complex (for Pt only). The defect-free fraction was found to approach 100% when Pt is irradiated at 9 J cm−2. The fraction of probes on defect-free sites was found to increase with the energy density of the pulse and with the solubility of In in the metals. The data are consistent with the idea that laser surface-melting produces high concentrations of vacancies and lattice sinks, although no thermal trapping of point defects was detected. The technical issues relevant to providing high-quality digital service over analog radio using 1.544-Mbit/s DS-1 data-invoice modems operating through analog supergroup channels with 256-QAM modulation are reviewed. By means of a typical example, the desirability of increasing the fading margin when operating over FM radio systems is demonstrated. This motivates the consideration of coded modulation as a means of extending the threshold of the modem System, so that operation of the modem can be achieved in supergroup channels located higher in the radio baseband. It is found that trellis coded modulation provides better improvement of threshold performance than lattice coded modulation when the actual coding gain realized near the R0channel bound is used rather than the high signalto-noise-ratio (SNR)asymptotic coding gains. Using Ungerboeck's eight-state trellis code [3], a coding gain of approximately 2 dB is found for operation at 28 dB SNR (1 dB from the R0bound). Furthermore, it is found that even at this low operating SNR (where error events at the coded modulation receiver ouput can be long), high-rate, interleaved Reed-Solomon codes, used for burst noise protection at high SNR, still provide over 2 dB of additional coding gain.  相似文献

A framework for constructing detailed animated models of an actor's shape and appearance from multiple view images is presented. Multiple views of an actor are captured in a studio with controlled illumination and background. An initial low-resolution approximation of the person's shape is reconstructed by deformation of a generic humanoid model to fit the visual hull using shape constrained optimisation to preserve the surface parameterisation for animation. Stereo reconstruction with multiple view constraints is then used to reconstruct the detailed surface shape. High-resolution shape detail from stereo is represented in a structured format for animation by displacement mapping from the low-resolution model surface. A novel integration algorithm using displacement maps is introduced to combine overlapping stereo surface measurements from multiple views into a single displacement map representation of the high-resolution surface detail. Results of 3D actor modelling in a 14 camera studio demonstrate improved representation of detailed surface shapes, such as creases in clothing, compared to previous model fitting approaches. Actor models can be animated and rendered from arbitrary views under different illumination to produce free-viewpoint video sequences. The proposed framework enables rapid transformation of captured multiple view images into a structured representation suitable for realistic animation.  相似文献

In the search for applications for alloys developed under the philosophy of the High Entropy Alloy (HEA)-type materials, the focus may be placed on applications where current alloys also use multiple components, albeit at lower levels than those found in HEAs. One such area, where alloys with complex compositions are already found, is in filler metals used for joining. In soldering (<450 °C) and brazing (>450 °C), filler metal alloys are taken above their liquidus temperature and used to form a metallic bond between two components, which remain both unmelted and largely unchanged throughout the process. These joining methods are widely used in applications from electronics to aerospace and energy, and filler metals are highly diverse, to allow compatibility with a broad range of base materials (including the capability to join ceramics to metals) and a large range of processing temperatures. Here, we review recent developments in filler metals relevant to High Entropy materials, and argue that such alloys merit further exploration to help overcome a number of current challenges that need to be solved for filler metal-based joining methods.  相似文献

Polycrystalline CdS/CdTe thin‐film solar cells in the superstrate configuration have been studied by spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE) using glass side illumination. In this measurement method, the first reflection from the ambient/glass interface is rejected, whereas the second reflection from the glass/film‐stack interface is collected; higher order reflections are also rejected. The SE analysis incorporates parameterized dielectric functions ε for solar cell component materials obtained by in situ and variable‐angle SE. In the SE analysis of the complete cells, a step‐wise procedure ranks the fitting parameters, including thicknesses and those defining the spectra in ε, according to their ability to reduce the root‐mean‐square deviation between the simulated and measured SE spectra. The best fit thicknesses from this analysis are found to be consistent with electron microscopy. Based on the SE results, the solar cell quantum efficiency (QE) can be simulated without any free parameters, and comparisons with measured QE enable optical model refinements as well as identification of optical and electronic losses. Over the last few years, there has been an increased interest in the study of stem cells in biomedicine for therapeutic use and as a source for healing diseased or injured organs/tissues. More recently, vibrational spectroscopy has been applied to study stem cell differentiation. In this study, we have used both synchrotron based FTIR and Raman microspectroscopies to assess possible differences between human pluripotent (embryonic) and multipotent (adult mesenchymal) stem cells, and how O(2) concentration in cell culture could affect the spectral signatures of these cells. Our work shows that infrared spectroscopy of embryonic (pluripotent) and adult mesenchymal (multipotent) stem cells have different spectral signatures based on the amount of lipids in their cytoplasm (confirmed with cytological staining). Furthermore, O(2) concentration in cell culture causes changes in both the FTIR and Raman spectra of embryonic stem cells. These results show that embryonic stem cells might be more sensitive to O(2) concentration when compared to mesenchymal stem cells. While vibrational spectroscopy could therefore be of potential use in identifying different populations of stem cells further work is required to better understand these differences.  相似文献
