The factors influencing the formation of water-in-134a-propellant microemulsions using the fluorinated ionic surfactants ammonium perfluorooctanoate, ammonium perfluoroheptanoate, and sodium perfluorooctanoate has been determined. None of the fluorinated ionic surfactants could be used to prepare clear, one-phase systems when used as sole surfactant, but they could be when combined with a short-chain fluoro- or hydrocarbon alcohol in surfactant:cosurfactant weight-mixing ratios (K(m)) in the range 1:2 to 2:1. When hydrocarbon alcohols were used this clear region extended over a wide range of compositions and was confirmed by means of photon correlation spectroscopy (PCS) to contain microemulsion droplets in the propellant-rich part of the phase diagram. PCS studies performed in the presence of the water-soluble drug terbutaline sulfate showed that it was possible to solubilize the drug within water-in-propellant microemulsion droplets. These studies confirm for the first time that it is possible to prepare water-in-propellant 134a microemulsions using fluorinated ionic surfactants and to solubilize water-soluble drugs within these systems.  相似文献

Summary.  There are more than 150 papers that report on the solubility of the four chloromethanes in water. Volume 62 of the Solubility Data Series compiles and evaluates the papers concerned with the liquid–liquid solubility of the chloromethanes with water. A similar evaluation has not been carried out for the vapor–liquid solubility at a partial pressure up to the saturation vapor pressure of the four chloromethanes. This paper uses the liquid–liquid evaluated solubility values to calculate vapor–liquid Henry’s constants. They are compared with a compilation of Henry’s constants with good agreements between the calculated constants and the median of the compiled constants. It is believed that the calculated constants are a reliable set of values to use for the vapor–liquid solubility of the chloromethanes in water. A black hole may carry quantum numbers that arenot associated with massless gauge fields, contrary to the spirit of the no-hair theorems. The quantum hair is invisible in the classical limit, but measurable via quantum interference experiments. Quantum hair alters the temperature of the radiation emitted by a black hole. It also induces non-zero expectation values for fields outside the event horizon; these expectation values are non-perturbative in , and decay exponentially far from the hole. The existence of quantum hair demonstrates that a black hole can have an intricate quantum-mechanical structure that is completely missed by standard semiclassical theory.Based on an essay which received second award from the Gravity Research Foundation, 1991  相似文献

1,2-Dihydropyrazin-2-one derivatives, which have two aminoalkyl groups at the positions 3 and 6, were found to be efficient tools for the construction of potent, selective and long-acting opioid mimetics. During the course of preparation, we found that the catalytic hydrogenation of 3,6-bis(benzyloxycarbonylaminomethyl)-5-methyl-1,2-dihydropyrazin-2-one to remove the benzyloxycarbonyl groups resulted in a side reaction. By MS and NMR studies and by preparation of additional 1,2-dihydropyrazin-2-one derivatives, the structure of the by-product was identified as 3-aminomethyl-5,6-dimethyl-1,2-dihydropyrazin-2-one. Preparation of additional compounds substituted with deuterium provided us with sufficient information to confirm the structure of the product and to support a cyclization mechanism in its formation.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterization of nido-[1,1,2,2-(CO)(4)-1,2-(PPh(3))(2)-1,2-FeIrB(2)H(5)] (1) is reported. 1 is formed in low yield as a degradation product from the reaction between [{&mgr;-Fe(CO)(4)}B(6)H(9)](-) and trans-Ir(CO)Cl(PPh(3))(2) in THF and is characterized from NMR, IR, and analytical data and by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction study. 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/n with a = 12.8622(12), b = 14.3313(12), c = 23.579(3) ?, beta = 97.12(2) degrees, Z = 4, V = 4257.0(8) ?(3), R(1) = 4.83%, and wR(2)()(F(2)) = 12.43%. The heterobimetallaborane structure may be viewed as a derivative of the binary boron hydride nido-[B(4)H(7)](-) and is related to the known homobimetallatetraborane analogues [Fe(2)(CO)(6)B(2)H(6)] and [Co(2)(CO)(6)B(2)H(4)]. 1 exhibits proton fluxionality in its (1)H NMR spectrum, which is related to that found in the latter two compounds.  相似文献

Calculation of electromagnetic (EM) scattering from vibrating penetrable cylinders of arbitrary cross-section is presented using a general class of time-varying sheet boundary conditions (SBCs) in conjunction with the method of moments (MoM). Sheet impedance and admittance expressions are first derived from the exact scattering solution for a penetrable circular cylinder with perturbed radius. Then, using the SBCs, integral equations are derived and solved numerically so that vibrating cylinders with arbitrary cross-section can be treated. Cylinder vibrations are assumed to be non-relativistic, allowing a simplified calculation of the scattered Doppler spectrum. A critical factor in the calculation of the potentially small Doppler components is that the time-varying nature of the cylinder boundary, contained within the sheet impedance and admittance expressions, can be isolated from the unperturbed terms in the scattered field. Comparison with exact and analytical perturbation solutions are presented to demonstrate the accuracy of the numerical solution.  相似文献

Abstract

Polymer liquid crystals can occur as polydomain materials where the domain size may be tens of microns. While the material within each domain may be characterized by a common order parameter, the directors of the domains can be more or less randomly distributed. Since the transition from polydomain to monodomain material only involves the removal of grain boundaries and the alignment of directors, the free energy change must necessarily be small. Such a transition can readily be achieved, therefore, by the action of any external field: electrical, magnetic, stress or surface. In this work optical photomicrographs of polymeric liquid crystals with widely varying and in some cases well controlled morphologies are presented. Probable dependence of rheological behaviour on morphology is also discussed. Such dependence is expected to be considerable under certain conditions. Due to experimental and sample limitations, however, direct correlations of rheology and morphology are sparse. Morphological consequences for the rheology of liquid-crystalline materials can be exemplified by the following possibilities. In contrast to the case of isotropic melts, wall effects can be non-negligible. Zero shear rate rheological parameters are not expected to be uniquely defined quantities since the domain sizes are large and the director may not be effectively averaged over typical sample dimensions. Non-zero shear-rate measurements of rheological parameters is effected by the propensity of: (1) individual domain directors to align under the influence of a stress field and (2) flow alignment to dominate surface-induced alignment above some critical shear rate. The effects might be manifested by a non-newtonian regime as well as yield stress behaviour and thixotropy. The kinetics of relaxation from mono- to poly-domain material has implications for the dynamic response and rheological hysterises of the material.  相似文献
