A fast modular multiplication method based on precomputation is proposed for use in public-key cryptosystems. The proposed method can compute the Montgomery reduction TR1 mod N only through additions. Furthermore, this is 6.4 times faster than the Montgomery method implemented in modular reduction with a 512 bit modulus when 2.1 MB of memory is used. The pulsed and CW laser performance of a range of titanium sapphire laser crystals is reported. Titanium ion concentration in the crystals ranged from 0.07 at.% to 0.25 and 0.41 at.% for some recently developed heavily doped crystals. Values of the crystal figure of merit lay between 30 and 220. Threshold, slope efficiency, tunability, and temporal response are assessed. Starting with a brief review on 0.1-μm (100 nm) CMOS status, this paper addresses the key challenges in further scaling of CMOS technology into the nanometer (sub-100 nm) regime in light of fundamental physical effects and practical considerations. Among the issues discussed are: lithography, power supply and threshold voltage, short-channel effect, gate oxide, high-field effects, dopant number fluctuations and interconnect delays. Erika Mares introduced the concepts of semi-perfectness and perfectness for projective modules, generalised the structure theorems of H. Bass and obtained results on the endomorphism rings of such modules. The present author has carried out an extensive study of endomorphism rings of various types of modules with two of his collaborators [3], [9]. In particular the concept of semi-perfectness was extended to modules not necessarily projective and results similar to those of Erika Mares obtained for quasi-projective semi-perfect modules. The asymptotic behavior of the spectra for large values of the scattering vector for the case of elastic multiple small-angle
neutron scattering (SANS) is investigated theoretically and experimentally. An expansion of the spectrum in terms of the reciprocal
of the magnitude of the momentum transfer is obtained taking account of the influence of the instrumental line. It is shown
that, to within some factor, the leading term of the expansion is identical to the differential single-scattering cross section
averaged over a statistical ensemble of particles; several subsequent terms in the expansion are calculated and the range
of applicability of the resulting expressions is determined. The asymptotic behavior of the multiple SANS spectrum is measured,
using a two-crystal neutron spectrometer, for samples of an HTSC ceramic, the alloy Fe-Ni, and Al powder. The agreement between
the experimental results and the theoretical predictions is analyzed.

Polarization data are given for three whiskers recorded with the large solar vacuum telescope at the Baikal Observatory, Institute
of Solar-Terrestrial Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences. The observed degree of polarization varies from 2 to 13%. The direction
of the polarization plane for the mediumintensity whisker was tangential, while that for the weakest one was radial. The brightest
whisker had the polarization plane direction close to radial at the center of the line but tangential at the flanks. It is
assumed that the polarization is due to impact excitation of a hydrogen-atom ensemble in the solar chromosphere by an electron
beam, and estimates are made of the beam energy.

It has been shown by using the statistical approach that the angular dependence of intensity I(θ) in multiple small-angle light scattering can be described by Lévy’s universal distribution functions. The fundamental property
of the stability of these distributions permits one to extract information on the characteristics of fractal media as complete
as it is possible in the simple single-scattering case. In particular, an analysis of the polarization characteristics of
I(θ) in disordered PST reveals that the surface fractals observed in these crystals are of the heterophase rather than domain
origin.
