Features of the 9Be → 2He fragmentation in an emulsion for an energy of 1.2 GeV per nucleon

The results of investigation of the fragmentation of relativistic nuclei ⁹Be in an emulsion, which is accompanied by the formation of two 1.2-A-GeV He fragments, are presented. The angular measurements of the ⁹Be → 2He events are analyzed. The ⁹Be → ⁸Be + n fragmentation channel with the decay of ⁸Be from the ground (0⁺) and first excited (2⁺) states into a pair of α particles appears to be dominant.     

Instrumental neutron activation determination of gold in mineral raw materials using a californium neutron source

A facility using a californium neutron source and a method for the neutron activation analysis of gold were developed. The sensitivity of the determination is 0.1 g/t. The sources of random and systematic errors have been studied. It has been concluded that in prospection and evaluation of gold ore deposits, the traditional test tube analysis for gold may be replaced with the developed method.     

Bis(porphyrin)-3,4:9,10-perylenetetracarboxydiimide triads as new building blocks for the synthesis of aromatic polyethers

It was shown that aromatic polyethers (APs) containing in the main chain bis(porphyrin) perylenediimide triads as new building blocks can be obtained. Thermal properties of the prepared APs showing high glass transition temperature were studied. Negative photoresists based on the final unsaturated polymer and anthrylsulfonium salt were designed.     

Observation of small-angle contrast in refraction introscopy via full angular scanning

In this paper we describe experiments in an imaging scheme with two perfect crystals which demonstrate the possibility of using the full angular scanning of images by means of a crystal analyzer for separating absorption, refraction, and small-angle scattering in image formation. The possibility of determining the characteristics of heterogeneous objects using this method is discussed.     

Status of the polarized ions source for the JINR accelerator complex

The project assumes the design and construction of a universal high-intensity source of polarized deuterons (protons) using a charge-exchange plasma ionizer. The output D ⁺↑ (H ⁺↑) current of the source is expected to be at a level of 10 mA. The polarization will be up to 90% of the maximal vector (±1) for D ⁺↑ (H ⁺↑) and tensor (+1, ?2) for D ⁺↑ polarization. Realization of the project is carried out in close cooperation with INR of the RAS (Moscow). The equipment available from the CIPIOS ion source (IUCF, Bloomington, USA) is partially used for the Dubna setup. The new source at the JINR Nuclotron accelerator facility will make it possible to increase the polarized deuteron beam intensity up to the level of 10¹⁰ d/pulse. The first results of the source of polarized atoms testing are presented.     

The synthesis of low molecular weight pyrrolo[2,3-c]pyridine-7-one scaffold

A facile method for the synthesis of substituted pyrrolo[2,3-c]pyridine-7-ones is developed that applies an acid-promoted intramolecular cyclization of 2-pyrrolecarboxylic acid amidoacetals as key step. The synthesis is easily scaled up to 1.5?mol quantity with no yield decrease. The alkylation/arylation reaction of the pyrrolo[2,3-c]pyridine-7-ones proceeds regioselectively giving N6-substituted derivatives.
