A sensor system capable of medical, safety and security monitoring in avionic and other environments (e.g. homes) is examined. For application inside an aircraft cabin, the system relies on an optical cellular network that connects each seat to a server and uses a set of database applications to process data related to passengers’ health, safety and security status. Health monitoring typically encompasses electrocardiogram, pulse oximetry and blood pressure, body temperature and respiration rate while safety and security monitoring is related to the standard flight attendance duties, such as cabin preparation for take-off, landing, flight in regions of turbulence, etc. In contrast to previous related works, this article focuses on the system’s modules (medical and safety sensors and associated hardware), the database applications used for the overall control of the monitoring function and the potential use of the system for security applications. Further tests involving medical, safety and security sensing performed in an real A340 mock-up set-up are also described and reference is made to the possible use of the sensing system in alternative environments and applications, such as health monitoring within other means of transport (e.g. trains or small passenger sea vessels) as well as for remotely located home users, over a wired Ethernet network or the Internet. 相似文献

Meniscus is a fibrocartilaginous tissue composed mainly of water and a dense elaborate collagen network with a predominantly circumferential alignment. Crystal formation and accumulation on meniscal tissue is frequently observed especially in elderly. In this study, we used X‐ray diffraction (XRD), FTIR and FT‐Raman for the structural identification of the depositions and Optical microscopy, Scanning Electron microscopy (SEM/EDX) and Atomic Force microscopy (AFM), in order to investigate the structural relationship between the crystal deposits and the collagen fibers of human meniscal tissues. We are reporting on the formation of intercalary “colonies” of Calcium Pyrophosphate Dihydrate (CPPD) crystals with two distinct morphologies corresponding to the monoclinic and the triclinic phase, as well as the formation of micro‐aggregations composed of nano‐crystalline HAP aggregations which are developed along the longitudinal axis of collagen fibers without extensively disturbing the collagens arrangement. 相似文献

Multifunctional materials, especially those combining two or more properties of interest, are attracting immense attention due to their potential applications. MOFs, metal organic frameworks, can be regarded as multifunctional materials if they show another useful property in addition to the adsorption behavior. Here, we report a new multifunctional light hybrid, MgH(6)ODTMP·2H(2)O(DMF)(0.5) (1), which has been synthesized using the tetraphosphonic acid H(8)ODTMP, octamethylenediamine-N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(methylenephosphonic acid), by high-throughput methodology. Its crystal structure, solved by Patterson-function direct methods from synchrotron powder X-ray diffraction, was characterized by a 3D pillared open framework containing cross-linked 1D channels filled with water and DMF. Upon H(2)O and DMF removal and subsequent rehydration, MgH(6)ODTMP·2H(2)O (2) and MgH(6)ODTMP·6H(2)O (3) can be formed. These processes take place through crystalline-quasi-amorphous-crystalline transformations, during which the integrity of the framework is maintained. A water adsorption study, at constant temperature, showed that this magnesium tetraphosphonate hybrid reversibly equilibrates its lattice water content as a function of the water partial pressure. Combination of the structural study and gas adsorption characterization (N(2), CO(2), and CH(4)) indicates an ultramicroporous framework. High-pressure CO(2) adsorption data are also reported. Finally, impedance data indicates that 3 has high proton conductivity σ = 1.6 × 10(-3) S cm(-1) at T = 292 K at ~100% relative humidity with an activation energy of 0.31 eV. 相似文献

We report on the synthesis of fullerene derivatives containing a trialkoxysilane moiety that exhibit enhanced solubility in solvents commonly used for sol-gel processing. We present a new PLL based frequency synthesizer, in which we have replaced the conventional phase frequency detector and the dividers (programmable counters) with a sequential dual input phase accumulator (DIPA), consisting of a digital circuit employing adders, registers and a ladder. The main feature of the DIPA is that the two input frequencies are not required to be normalized (divided down) to the step frequency of the synthesizer. Instead, the two different high frequencies, that is the reference and the output frequency of the synthesizer, are applied directly. The DIPA samples and normalizes their phases at very high rates, calculates their phase difference, producing an output that consists of a dc component proportional to the phase difference and harmonics of the two input high frequencies. These harmonics are high frequencies and can easily be rejected by a wide bandwidth filter of the loop, without affecting the high convergence speed of the loop. Moreover, these harmonics do not generate spurs near the output frequency. The resolution of the DIPA based synthesizer depends only on the length of the digital word of the DIPA, and its convergence speed depends on the lower of the two input frequencies. The output of the DIPA is a linear function of the phase difference of the two input frequencies and its dynamic range exceeds the limit of ±2π that governs the conventional phase detectors. Thus, the proposed frequency synthesizer based on the DIPA has low phase noise, no spurs nearby the output frequency, high resolution and fast convergence rate. Additionally, the output frequency can be digitally modulated under the control of the closed loop, either by phase or frequency modulation. 相似文献

Many cities all over the world are making large investments for the construction of big network infrastructures, in order to offer to local public organizations, businesses and citizens high speed connectivity, and on top of them useful e-services, aiming to achieve various social and economic objectives. The value generated from these costly ‘digital city’ investments is actually the value provided to the citizens and businesses by the e-services that will be developed and run on these network infrastructures. This paper proposes and validates a structured methodology for assessing and improving e-services developed in digital cities. The proposed methodology assesses the various types of value generated by an e-service, and also the relations among them, allowing a more structured evaluation, a deeper understanding of the value generation process and also identification and prioritization of the improvements that should be made in the e-service with the usually scarce resources in municipalities. This methodology is applied for the evaluation of an e-learning service developed in the Greek city of Karlovassi for young citizens, and also for the prioritization of the necessary improvements in it. This paper proposes and estimates a globally flexible functional form for the cost function, which we call Neural Cost Function (NCF). The proposed specification imposes a priori and satisfies globally all the properties that economic theory dictates. The functional form can be estimated easily using Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) techniques or standard iterative SURE. We use a large panel of U.S. banks to illustrate our approach.
