Previously, we have demonstrated both analytically and experimentally subwavelength imaging using a negative-refractive-index lens made of a periodically L, C loaded transmission line (TL) network. This loaded transmission line network has been referred to as the dual TL lens. Here, we consider the limitations on subwavelength imaging imposed by impedance mismatches and the component losses of a practical dual TL lens. Simple expressions for estimating the resolving capability of a dual TL lens are given. It is found that the resolution enhancement of the dual lens is proportional to the quality factor of the series loading capacitors divided by the electrical thickness of the lens. The effective material parameters of the dual TL lens are also derived so that these expressions can be directly related to those of previous studies considering uniform and isotropic left-handed lenses. Finally, the resolving capability of an experimental lens that achieves subwavelength imaging is theoretically predicted. These theoretical predictions are then directly compared to previously reported experimental results.  相似文献

Over the last one and a half decades, digital video compression technologies have become an integral part of the way we create, communicate, and consume visual information. In this paper, techniques for video compression are reviewed, starting from basic concepts. The rate-distortion performance of modern video compression schemes is the result of an interaction between motion representation techniques, intra-picture prediction techniques, waveform coding of differences, and waveform coding of various refreshed regions. The paper starts with an explanation of the basic concepts of video codec design and then explains how these various features have been integrated into international standards, up to and including the most recent such standard, known as H.264/AVC.  相似文献

An asymptotic solution to the problem of the diffraction of high-frequency waves by the edge of a cylindrically curved surface whose convex and concave faces present soft and hard boundary conditions is obtained. The results permit us to define new diffraction coefficients related to this kind of mixed boundary conditions. This paper proposes a new Kalman-filter-based recursive frequency estimator for discrete-time multicomponent sinusoidal signals whose frequencies may be time-varying. The frequency estimator is based on the linear prediction approach and it employs the Kalman filter to track the linear prediction coefficients (LPCs) recursively. Frequencies of the sinusoids can then be computed using the estimated LPCs. Due to the coloredness of the linear prediction error, an iterative algorithm is employed to estimate the covariance matrix of the prediction error and the LPCs alternately in the Kalman filter in order to improve the tracking performance. Simulation results show that the proposed Kalman-filter-based iterative frequency estimator can achieve better tracking results than the conventional recursive least-squares-based estimators.  相似文献

Incremental data converters (IDCs) are useful in instrumentation and measurement applications, where low-frequency analog signals need to be converted into digital form with high accuracy and low power dissipation. They are particularly well suited for applications where a single analog-digital converter is multiplexed between many channels. This paper proposes an exact design methodology for IDCs, which optimizes the signal-to-noise ratio of the converter under practical design constraints. The process also allows the designer to apportion the noise budget in an arbitrary manner between thermal and quantization noise. The design process is illustrated by an example which describes the optimization of a third-order multiplexed IDC.  相似文献

This paper presents a new set of techniques for hardware implementations of Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA) hash functions. These techniques consist mostly in operation rescheduling and hardware reutilization, therefore, significantly decreasing the critical path and required area. Throughputs from 1.3 Gbit/s to 1.8 Gbit/s were obtained for the SHA implementations on a Xilinx VIRTEX II Pro. Compared to commercial cores and previously published research, these figures correspond to an improvement in throughput/slice in the range of 29% to 59% for SHA-1 and 54% to 100% for SHA-2. Experimental results on hybrid hardware/software implementations of the SHA cores, have shown speedups up to 150 times for the proposed cores, compared to pure software implementations.   相似文献
