Phyllanthus fraternus is widely used in the cure of various liver diseases and possess antiviral properties especially against hepatitis virus. In the present study, evaluation of the antioxidant activity of stem and calli induced from stem has been done by different assays. Extraction was done by standard method in water and ethanol. Total antioxidant capacity was measured by 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl free radical scavenging method. Lipid peroxidation was measured in terms of thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances (TBARS) by using egg yolk homogenates as lipid-rich media, and superoxide radical scavenging activity was measured using riboflavin–light–nitro blue tetrazolium assay. Reducing power was determined on the basis of Fe3+–Fe2+ transformation in the presence of the extract. In addition to the antioxidant activity, polyphenolic compounds like total phenolics and flavonoids were also measured by spectroscopic method. Results showed that the ethanolic extract of stem is more potent in antioxidant activity than its aqueous extract and ethanolic extract of calli. A significant correlation between antioxidant capacity and polyphenolic content and reducing potential was observed, indicating that phenolic compounds and reducers present in extract are major contributors to the antioxidant potential. The Mg–Ce–O powder are shown to contain periclase-type MgO and/or fluoride-type cerium oxide (CeO2) depending upon the composition (x) defined by Ce/(Ce + Mg) atomic ratio. Lattice contraction of pariclase phase of MgO (average crystallite size ~8.8 nm) at Ce content of ‘x’ = 0.20 in comparison to pure MgO (crystallite size ~9.5 nm) has been realized due to oxygen vacancy formation. The optical band gap values of CeO2 varies (3.0–3.2 eV) due to oxygen vacancy formation in CeO2 phase, crystallite size and/or Ce3+/Ce4+ ratio. Further, the addition of Ce has shown to reduce the physisorption and chemisorption of water significantly as reflected by (1) suppression of related absorption peaks and (2) absence of magnesium hydroxide, Mg(OH)2, bands in Fourier transform infrared spectra. 相似文献

Mesoporous nanocomposite membranes with vanadium oxide–carbon nanotubes (VxOy-CNTs) embedded in γ-Al2O3 were successfully synthesized using the dip coating method. The membranes were evaluated for styrene oxidation to determine the optimum styrene conversion and benzaldehyde selectivity. Several factors that influence the preparation of defect-free coatings, such as the type of binder, the binder addition time and surface support treatments, were investigated. The physico-chemical permeation properties of the membranes were characterized using scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray Diffraction XRD, Nitrogen adsorption (BET) and Thermogravimetric TGA. Response surface methodology (RSM) was used to investigate the effects of oxidant (H2O2) concentration, temperature, contact time and catalyst loading on styrene conversion and the selectivity of benzaldehyde. Based on the RSM analysis, the optimal oxidation conditions included a reaction temperature of 45 °C, a differential pressure of 1.5 bars, a molar ratio of H2O2: styrene of 1.5:1 and a catalyst loading of 30 %. These conditions resulted in the maximal styrene conversion of 25.6 and 84.9 % benzaldehyde selectivity. 相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new efficient method based on a combination of Adomian decomposition method (ADM) and Green’s function for solving second-order boundary value problems (BVPs) for integro-differential equations (IDEs). The proposed method depends on constructing Green’s function before establishing the recursive scheme for the solution components. Unlike the ADM or modified ADM , the proposed method avoids solving a sequence of difficult nonlinear equations (transcendental equations) for the unknown parameters. The proposed method provides a direct recursive scheme for obtaining the series solution with easily calculable components. We also provide a sufficient condition that guarantees a unique solution to the second-order BVPs for IDEs. Convergence and error analysis of the proposed method are also discussed. Convergence analysis is reliable enough to estimate the error bound of the series solution. Some numerical examples are included to demonstrate the accuracy, applicability, and generality of the proposed approach. The numerical results reveal that the proposed method is very effective and simple. 相似文献

The present study involved development of a novel sodium alginate (SA)/HPMC/light liquid paraffin emulsified (o/w) gel beads containing Diclofenac sodium (DS) as an active pharmaceutical ingredient and its site specific delivery by using hard gelatin capsule fabricated by enteric coated Eudragit L-100 polymer. Emulsified gel beads were formulated by 3-level factorial design, ionic gelatin method. The obtained beads were characterized by Fourier transform infrared, X-ray diffraction and Field emission scanning electron microscope analysis. The variables such as SA (X1), HPMC (X2), were optimized for drug loading and in vitro drug release with the help of response surface methodology (RSM). The RSM analysis predicted that SA was significant for both drug loading (p = 0.0005) and drug release (p = 0.0041). HPMC was only significant for drug release (p = 0.0154). The cross-product contribution (2FI) and quadratic model were found to be adequate and statistically accurate with correlation value (R2) of 0.9054 and 0.9450 to predict the drug loading and drug release respectively. An increase in concentration of HPMC and SA decreases the drug loading as well as the drug release. The obtained optimum values of drug loading and DS released were 7.43 % and 85.54 % respectively, which were well in agreement with the predicted value by RSM. 相似文献

Marine drugs are abundant in number, comprise of a diverse range of structures with corresponding mechanisms of action, and hold promise for the discovery of new and better treatment approaches for the management of several chronic diseases. There are huge reserves of natural marine biological compounds, as 70 percent of the Earth is covered with oceans, indicating a diversity of chemical entities on the planet. The marine ecosystems are a rich source of bioactive products and have been explored for lead drug molecules that have proven to be novel therapeutic targets. Over the last 70 years, many structurally diverse drug products and their secondary metabolites have been isolated from marine sources. The drugs obtained from marine sources have displayed an exceptional potential in the management of a wide array of diseases, ranging from acute to chronic conditions. A beneficial role of marine drugs in human health has been recently proposed. The current review highlights various marine drugs and their compounds and role in the management of chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, neurodegenerative diseases, and cardiovascular disorders, which has led to the development of new drug treatment approaches. 相似文献

Pluronic F127, a triblock copolymer of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(propylene oxide) (PPO), has generated considerable interest as a drug delivery vehicle due to its ability to gel at physiological temperatures. This work examines the gelation behavior of Pluronic F127 in the presence of a series of hydrophobic pharmaceuticals, to determine whether there is any correlation between gelation and physicochemical parameters of drug solutes. The study includes the local anesthetics dibucaine, lidocaine, and tetracaine; the pharmaceutical additives methyl paraben, ethyl paraben, and propyl paraben; the anti-cancer agents paclitaxel and baccatin III; and the anti-inflammatory agent sulindac. The results indicate that the presence of local anesthetics and pharmaceutical additives allows F127 solutions to form gels at lower copolymer concentrations; local anesthetics and pharmaceutical additives also shift gelation down to a lower gelation temperature. This behavior is strongly dependent on drug solubility; poorly soluble drugs (paclitaxel, baccatin III, sulindac) do not change the lower gelation temperature or minimum F127 concentration for gelation. An equation relating the decrease in gelation temperature to drug solubility is presented, and the equation fits the data well. The results have significant positive implications on the toxicity and economic issues related to use of Pluronic F127 in drug delivery. 相似文献

Application of the CRISPR/Cas9 system to knock in fluorescent proteins to endogenous genes of interest in human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) has the potential to facilitate hPSC-based disease modeling, drug screening, and optimization of transplantation therapy. To evaluate the capability of fluorescent reporter hPSC lines for high-content screening approaches, we targeted EGFP to the endogenous OCT4 locus. Resulting hPSC–OCT4–EGFP lines generated expressed EGFP coincident with pluripotency markers and could be adapted to multi-well formats for high-content screening (HCS) campaigns. However, after long-term culture, hPSCs transiently lost their EGFP expression. Alternatively, through EGFP knock-in to the AAVS1 locus, we established a stable and consistent EGFP-expressing hPSC–AAVS1–EGFP line that maintained EGFP expression during in vitro hematopoietic and neural differentiation. Thus, hPSC–AAVS1–EGFP-derived sensory neurons could be adapted to a high-content screening platform that can be applied to high-throughput small-molecule screening and drug discovery campaigns. Our observations are consistent with recent findings indicating that high-frequency on-target complexities appear following CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing at the OCT4 locus. In contrast, we demonstrate that the AAVS1 locus is a safe genomic location in hPSCs with high gene expression that does not impact hPSC quality and differentiation. Our findings suggest that the CRISPR/Cas9-integrated AAVS1 system should be applied for generating stable reporter hPSC lines for long-term HCS approaches, and they underscore the importance of careful evaluation and selection of the applied reporter cell lines for HCS purposes. 相似文献

A major issue in the design and operation of ad hoc networks is sharing the common spectrum among links in the same geographic
area. Bandwidth allocation, to optimize the performance of networks in which each station can converse with at most a single
neighbor at a time, has been recently studied in the context of Bluetooth Personal Area Networks. There, centralized and distributed,
capacity assignment heuristics were developed, with applicability to a variety of ad hoc networks. Yet, no guarantees on the
performance of these heuristics have been provided. In this paper, we extend these heuristics such that they can operate with
general convex objective functions. Then, we present our analytic results regarding these heuristics. Specifically, we show
that they are β-approximation (β<2) algorithms. Moreover, we show that even though the distributed and centralized algorithms
allocate capacity in a different manner, both algorithms converge to the same results. Finally, we present numerical results
that demonstrate the performance of the algorithms.

from University of Illinois at Chicago and the B.Tech. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of
Technology, Delhi. He is currently with the High Speed Networks Research Department at Bell Labs, Lucent technologies, working
on network design, traffic engineering and scheduling algorithms. His current research interests are in the area of QoS for
multimedia services in wireless data networks.
Adrian Segall received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology in 1965
and 1971, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering with a minor in statistics from Stanford University
in 1973. After serving active duty in the Israel Defense Forces, he joined in 1968 the Scientific Department of Israel’s Ministry
of Defense. From 1973 to 1974 he was a Research Engineer at System Control Inc., Palo Alto, CA and a Lecturer at Stanford
University. From 1974 to 1976 he was an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology. From 1987 to 1998 he was on the faculty of the Department of Computer Science at the Technion. He
is presently Benjamin Professor of Computer-Communication Networks in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Technion,
Israel Institute of Technology. From 1982 to 1984 he was on leave with the IBM T.J.Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights,
NY. He held visiting positions with IBM, AT&T and Lucent Bell Labs. His current research interests are in the area of optical
networks, wireless, sensor and ad-hoc networks. Dr. Segall is an IEEE Fellow and has served in the past as Editor for Computer
Communication Theory of the IEEE Transactions on Communications, Editor for the IEEE Information Theory Society Newsletter
and Senior Editor for the IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications. He was selected as an IEEE delegate to the 1975
IEEE-USSR Information Theory Workshop, and is the recipient of the 1981 Miriam and Ray Klein Award for Outstanding Research

Gil Zussman received the B.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering and Management and the B.A. degree in Economics (both summa cum laude) from the Technion—Israel Institute of Technology in 1995. He received the M.Sc. degree (summa cum laude) in Operations Research from Tel-Aviv University in 1999 and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technion—Israel
Institute of Technology in 2004. Between 1995 and 1998, he served as an engineer in the Israel Defense Forces. He is currently
a Postdoctoral Associate in the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems in MIT. His current research interests are
in the area of ad hoc and sensor networks. In particular, he is interested in energy efficient protocols, medium access control
protocols, and personal area networks. Gil received the Knesset (Israeli Parliament) Award for distinguished students, the
Best Student Paper Award at the IFIP-TC6 Networking 2002 Conference, and the IEEE Communications Magazine Best Paper Award
at the OPNETWORK 2002 Conference. In 2004 he received the Marie Curie Outgoing International Fellowship and the Fulbright
