Electron capture decay of 51 min191Hg

The decay¹⁹¹Hg→¹⁹¹Au was investigated by measuring γ-ray spectra, conversion electron spectra, and coincidence spectra, as well as lifetimes in the second region. The parent isotope¹⁹¹Hg was produced by the reaction¹⁹⁷Au (d, 8n) withE _d =80 MeV. About 80 γ-transitions of this decay were observed. Multipolarities of the more intense transitions were determined. An isomeric state of 0.92±0.11 s half-life was found in¹⁹¹Au. A level scheme for¹⁹¹Au is suggested. The measured γ-transitions are attributed to the decay of a 13/2⁺ isomeric state of¹⁹¹Hg; its half-life was found to be 50.8 ±1.5 min. The core excitation model was used to discuss some features of the level structure in¹⁹¹Au.     

An interior point method for nonlinear programming

Summary In this paper an interior point method is presented for nonlinear programming problems with inequality constraints. On defining a modified distance function the original problem is solved sequentially by using a method of feasible directions. At each iteration a usable feasible direction can be determined explicitly. Under certain assumptions it can be shown that every accumulation point of the sequence of points constructed by the proposed algorithm satisfies the Kuhn-Tucker conditions.

Zusammenfassung Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird eine Innere-Punkt-Methode zur Lösung nichtlinearer Optimierungsprobleme mit Ungleichungsrestriktionen vorgestellt. Mit dem Begriff der modifizierten Distanzfunktion und mit Hilfe einer Methode der zulässigen Richtungen wird das ursprüngliche Problem sequentiell gelöst. Bei jeder Iteration kann eine brauchbare zulässige Richtung explizit angegeben werden. Unter geeigneten Voraussetzungen wird gezeigt, daß jeder Häufungspunkt der Folgenpunkte, die durch den dargestellten Algorithmus konstruiert werden, die Kuhn-Tucker-Bedingungen erfüllt.

     

Helicity amplitudes A1/2 and A3/2 for the D13(1520) resonance obtained from the gamma-->p-->-->ppi(0) Reaction

The helicity dependence of the gamma-->p-->-->ppi(0) reaction has been measured for the first time in the photon-energy range from 550 to 790 MeV. The experiment, performed at the Mainz microtron MAMI, used a 4pi-detector system, a circularly polarized, tagged photon beam, and a longitudinally polarized frozen-spin target. These data are predominantly sensitive to the D13(1520) resonance and are used to determine its helicity amplitudes.
