Surface active properties of N-(2-Aminoethyl)-3-aminopropyltetrasiloxane lactobionamide and aggregation behavior in aqueous solution

The aggregation behavior of tetrasiloxane-lactobionamide (Si4N2-LA) in aqueous solution has been characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS), negative-stained transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray Diffraction methods. Compared with the micellar sizes 7.0 nm of n-dodecyllactobionamide (C12Glu2), the Si4N2-LA molecule can self-assemble into spherical vesicle with diameters in the range from 60 to 300 nm.     

Studies on the Synthesis and Antiproliferative Activities of 13‐cis‐Retinoyl Sugar Derivatives

New retinoyl sugar derivatives of 13‐cis‐retinoic acid were synthesized in three ways in this paper in order to enhance pharmacal effects, especially antiproliferative activities of 13‐cis‐retinoic acid. Their structures were confirmed by IR, ¹H‐NMR, ¹³C‐NMR, and MS spectra and their antiproliferative activities were determined in vitro using human cancer lines. Results showed that some compounds possessed potential antitumor activities.     

Palladium‐Catalyzed C(sp3)?H Activation: A Facile Method for the Synthesis of 3,4‐Dihydroquinolinone Derivatives

3,4‐Dihydroquinolinones were synthesized by the palladium‐catalyzed, oxidative‐addition‐initiated activation and arylation of inert C(sp³) H bonds. Pd(OAc)₂ and P(o‐tol)₃ were used as the catalyst and ligand, respectively, to improve the efficiency of the reaction. A further advantage of this reaction is that it could be performed in air. A relatively rare seven‐membered palladacycle was proposed as a key intermediate of the catalytic cycle.     

Self-calibration method for cerium-doped lanthanum bromide scintillator detector in the 0.1–2.0 MeV energy range

In recent years, the cerium-doped lanthanum bromide, LaBr₃ (Ce = 5 %) detector is increasingly playing an important role in radiation measurements because of its higher energy resolution (~3 % at 662 keV), faster luminescence decay time (~35 ns) and higher detection efficiency compared to 7.65 cm × 7.65 cm NaI(Tl) detector. Intrinsic spectra between 1,800 and 3,000 keV derived from internal radioactivity within LaBr₃(Ce) scintillators have been investigated in some literatures, and these results are confirmed by the experiments in this work. In this paper, a new method for LaBr₃(Ce) detector energy calibration from 100 to 2,000 keV is proposed using the intrinsic spectra (self-calibration) instead of the standard gamma sources. Proof-of-concept experiment results show that self-calibration can guarantee energy accuracy of better than 0.815 % and can be applied outside the laboratory. The stability and applicability of this method are also investigated systematically.     

Well‐Defined High Molecular Weight Polystyrene with High Rates and High Livingness Synthesized via Two‐Stage RAFT Emulsion Polymerization

A highly living polymer with over 100 kg mol⁻¹ molecular weight is very difficult to achieve by controlled radical polymerization since the unavoidable side reactions of irreversible radical termination and radical chain transfer to monomer reaction become significant. It is reported that over 500 kg mol⁻¹ polystyrene with high livingness and low dispersity could be synthesized by a facile two‐stage reversible addition–fragmentation transfer emulsion polymerization. The monomer conversion reaches 90% within 10 h. High livingness of the product is ascribed to the extremely low initiator concentration and the chain transfer constant for monomer unexpectedly much lower than the well‐accepted values in the conventional radical polymerization. The two‐stage monomer feeding policy much decreases the dispersity of the product.

     

Recent advances on the pesticidal activity evaluations of sulfone derivatives: A 2010 to 2020 decade in mini-review

Sulfone derivatives, an important synthetic strategy in drug discovery, are acquiring more importance in plant protection field in recent years because of their pesticide activities, such as antifungal, antibacterial, acaricidal, insecticidal, herbicidal, and antiviral activity. Introduction of different pharmacophores into sulfone framework can afford a series of sulfone derivatives to build some sulfone derivatives as novel active molecules. The purpose of this review was to collate literature work reported by researchers on sulfone derivatives for their various pesticidal activities from year 2010 to 2020.     

TiO2/Fe2O3异质结薄膜的制备及其光电特性的研究

通过水热法成功在FTO上制得Ti O2/Fe2O3异质结薄膜,采用场发射扫描电子显微镜(FESEM)、X射线衍射仪(XRD)、紫外-可见吸收光谱(UV-Vis)分析测试手段对样品的形貌和结构进行了表征。结果表明,Ti O2/Fe2O3异质结是由直径约200~300 nm的Ti O2纳米棒镶嵌着Fe2O3纳米颗粒组成。通过光电流测试,证明Ti O2/Fe2O3异质结的可见光光电转换效率相比Ti O2明显提高,并对Ti O2/Fe2O3异质结的光电转换机理进行了分析。     

Crystallization behavior,tensile behavior and hydrophilicity of poly(vinylidene fluoride)/poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) blends

Binary polymer blends of hydrophobic poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and hydrophilic poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) were prepared by melt blending. The crystallization behavior, mechanical properties and hydrophilicity of the binary blends were investigated using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), wide-angle X-ray diffractometry (WAXD), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) scanning, non-isothermal crystallization kinetics, successive self-nucleation and annealing (SSA) fractionation, tensile tests and contact angle tests. The analysis of FTIR, WAXD, DSC scanning, non-isothermal crystallization kinetics and SSA fractionation showed that the addition of PVP greatly influenced the crystallization behavior of the sample. As the PVP content increased, the crystallization temperature, crystallization rate, degree of crystallinity, and the amount of thick lamellaes decreased gradually. Meanwhile, PVP favored the formation of β-phase of PVDF. The results of tensile test revealed that the addition of PVP increased the elongation at break of the sample, and lowered the yield stress. Besides, the result of contact angle test indicated that the hydrophilicity of PVDF was remarkably improved in the presence PVP. The relationship between crystallization behavior and the tensile behavior, hydrophilicity were discussed.
