Efficient preparation of a four-photon cluster state with homodyne measurement via cross-Kerr nonlinearity

A scheme is proposed for generating a multiphoton entangled cluster state among four modes. The scheme only uses Kerr medium, beam splitter and homodyne measurements on coherent light fields, which can be efficiently made in quantum optical laboratories. Performance of third-order ghost imaging with second-order intensity correlation

Single-molecule surface-enhanced Raman scattering of R6G in aqueous environment under non-resonance conditions

The single-molecule surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS) spectra of Rhodamine 6G(R6G) in an aqueous environment under non-resonance conditions are studied.Series of spectra are recorded in timemapping mode,and intensity fluctuations of SERS signals and spectral diffusion are observed.The correlations between the presence frequency of SERS spectra and number of hot spots as well as the quantity of molecules in scattering volume are examined thoroughly.The results indicate that only molecules located at hot spots produce good signal-to-noise ratio Raman spectra and the origin of fluctuating SERS signals are mainly ascribed to the movement of hot spots.     

Signaling-based path-segment protection in mesh optical networks

Path protections have become increasingly important for current mesh optical networks because fast restorations in generalized multiprotocol label switching(GMPLS) networks are uncertain.However,setting up additional disjoint paths to protect connections leads to more path setup blocking and signaling collisions.We analyze signaling collisions,path blocking and blocking probability,as well as calculate node-to-node blocking probabilities.A signaling-based path-segment protection(PSP) is proposed,which integrates segment protections and path protections as well as enhances the performance of path protections and ring protections.The setup of PSP connections causes less blocking probability than the setup of path protection connections in the simulations.     

Accumulation effect of SiO_2 protective layer on multi-shot laser-induced damage in high-reflectivity HfO_2/SiO_2 coatings

The accumulation effects in high-reflectivity(HR) HfO2/SiO2 coatings under laser irradiation are investigated.The HR HfO2/SiO2 coatings are prepared by electron beam evaporation at 1 064 nm.The laser-induced damage threshold(LIDT) are measured at 1 064 nm and at a pulse duration of 12 ns,in 1-on-1 and S-on-1 modes.Multi-shot LIDT is lower than single-shot LIDT.The laser-induced and native defects play an important role in the multi-shot mode.A correlative theory model based on critical conduction band electron density is constructed to elucidate the experimental phenomena.     

160-Gb/s polarization-multiplexing optical NRZ-DQPSK transmission using differential detection

Diffusion interaction and quantitative analysis of zinc dialkyldithiophosphate content in lube base oils in terahertz regime

We investigate the diffusion interaction and quantitative analysis of zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP) mixed with lube base oil (LBO) at different concentrations using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THzTDS).When the concentration exceeds 6.78%,the characteristic absorption peaks exhibit significantly shift,and the absorption coefficient peak value is nonlinear against concentration.Moreover,the absorption coefficients of mixed samples follow the Beer’s law at a concentration below 6.78%.The quantitative analysis enables a strategy for monitoring the formulation of lubricating oil in real time.     

Study of diode-pumped Yb:YAG disk lasers at low temperature

A Yb:YAG disk laser with V-shaped stable resonator and active-mirror configuration,end-pumped by a 940-nm InGaAs laser diode array,is demonstrated.Performances and optimization of the disk laser at low temperature over a range of 130-200 K are investigated theoretically and experimentally.Laser output energy of 1.46 J/pulse operating at 10-Hz repetition rate is obtained with the optimum output coupler transmission of 30%,and the corresponding optical-to-optical efficiency is 48.7%.
