Synthesis and bioactivity evaluation of eugenol hybrids obtained by Mannich and 1,3 dipolar cycloaddition reactions

Design, synthesis, and bioactivity evaluation of novel mannich bases ( 2a-2j ) and triazole-chalcone derivatives ( 7a-7k ) of Eugenol 1 were reported. Among all the derivatives tested for antiproliferative activity, di-amine manich derivative 2b (32.92 μM), and 4-methoxy chalcone triazole derivative 7d (33.05 μM) significantly inhibited HepG2 cell lines when compared to the standard doxorubicin (37.29 μM). Whereas most of the compounds such as diethylamine 2a (17.75 μM), (aminomethyl) methane diamine 2b (17.02 μM), and bis (chloromethyl) amine 2c (20.12 μM) showed moderate to better inhibition towards MCF-7 cell lines. The synthesized analogues were also tested for antidiabetic and antiobesity potentials. Compounds 2f (55.50%), 2c (54.34%), 7g (55.5%), and 2a (55.5%) have shown moderate inhibitory potentials toward intestinal α-glucosidase enzyme when compared to the standard Acarbose (72.86%). Likewise, compounds 7d (82.95%), 7f (76.19%), 7g (74.81%), 7e (74.81%), and 2g (72.50%) have shown significant to moderate inhibitory potentials toward Pancreatic lipase enzyme when compared to the standard orlistat (91.10%). ROS induces life-threatening diseases like diabetes, cancer, etc., and antioxidants play a major role in controlling their production. Compounds 2c (99.81%), 2i (99.80%), 2d (99.26%), 2g (98.79%), and 2f (98.42%) have shown significant antioxidant profiles in ABTS assay when compared to the standard Trolox (99.07%). Further, In silico Molecular docking and pharmacokinetic screening of the eugenol derivatives complemented the in vitro results indicating the drug likeness of the obtained active compounds.

Total Synthesis of (+)-6-epi-Ophiobolin A

The ophiobolin sesterterpenes are notable plant pathogens which have recently elicited significant chemical and biological attention because of their intriguing carbogenic frameworks, reactive functionalities, and emerging anticancer profiles. Reported herein is a total synthesis of (+)-6-epi-ophiobolin A in 14 steps, a task which addresses construction of the synthetically challenging spirocyclic tetrahydrofuran motif as well as several other key stereochemical problems. This work demonstrates a streamlined synthetic platform to complex ophiobolins leveraging disparate termination modes of a radical polycyclization cascade for divergent elaboration and functionalization.

Effective tuning of the arene and alkanesulfinamides for highly enantioselective synthesis of (S)-4-chlorophenylphenylmethylamine, a key intermediate for antihistamic (S)-cetirizine

High diastereoselectivity (>94%) has been achieved in the phenylMgBr addition process to chlorophenyl aldimine derived from the new and sterically hindered triisopropylbenzene sulfinamide (TIPBSA) in the synthesis of a key intermediate of (S)-Cetirizine. Surprisingly, under the same reaction conditions, toluenesulfinamide derived chlorophenyl aldimine provided only 10% ee.     

57Mössbauer studies in the double transition Ce(Fe1−xCox)2 alloys

The reported double transition in the series Ce(Fe_1–xCo_x)₂ for x<0.3 has been shown to be due to spin reorientation from Mossbauer measurements at⁵⁷Fe. It is suggested that the competing interactions with randomly substitution of Fe by Co atoms causes a quasi random freezing which results in abrupt loss of magnetization.     

Geometry effect on the nonlinear magnetic response of YBa2Cu3O7−y

Results are presented for study of nonlinear magnetization of a sintered YBa₂Cu₃O_7−y pellet of different thickness of a sample subjected to very low magnetic field. On cooling the sample belowT _c in zero field a change, in the oscillatory structure of harmonics in increasing dc field is observed in very low ac magnetic field. The effect of finiteness of the sample on the oscillatory structure and on the hysteresis of harmonics is also studied. The results are explained qualitatively.     

Effect of error-correcting code using DS-3 framing bits on measured dribble-error pattern of 565 Mbit/s fibre optic transmission system

22 days of error-second data were obtained from a DS-3 tributary of a 565 Mbit/s FOTS to predict the effect of a rate 0.99118 FEC code embedded in the DS-3 masterframe overhead. Using DS-3 masterframe parity to resolve errors within multiply-errored seconds, the code corrects all of the 1189 errors observed. There was no evidence for burstiness at the bit-by-bit timescale.<>     

Polymers in Waveguide Packaging

Polymers were successfully used in the packaging of waveguide-based photonic components in the area of fiber-to-waveguide coupling, waveguide die attachment, strain relief, and waveguide encapsulation. The application results of these polymers were described in this paper.
