Exfoliated poly(dicyclopentadiene) (pDCPD)—montmorillonite (MMT) nanocomposites were synthesized via intergallery‐surface‐initiated ring opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP). This is the first example of in situ polymerization of pDCPD from clay intergallery surfaces using ROMP. Grubbs catalyst was immobilized on the surface of MMT clay modified with vinylbenzyl dimethyloctadecyl ammonium chloride (VOAC), and DCPD polymerized from the clay surface while simultaneously crosslinking to form a thermoset nanocomposite in a one‐pot reaction. X‐ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy analysis indicated that the resultant nanocomposites exhibited exfoliated morphologies with heterogeneous clay platelet distribution. Conventional bulk‐initiated nanocomposites containing VOAC modified MMT were also synthesized as a comparison, and these resulted in nanocomposites with intercalated morphologies. The differences between the morphologies demonstrated that growing polymer chains from the initiator sites on the intergallery surface of the clay platelets pushed the platelets apart during the polymerization of the intergallery‐surface‐initiated nanocomposites, aiding in the exfoliation process. Compression testing indicated that the intergallery‐surface‐initiated nanocomposites led to improvements of up to 50% in the compressive Young's Modulus, while the bulk‐initiated nanocomposites at the same clay loadings did not exhibit improved properties. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We consider the relationship between the relative stable category of and the usual singularity category for group algebras with coefficients in a commutative noetherian ring. When the coefficient ring is self-injective we show that these categories share a common, relatively large, Verdier quotient. At the other extreme, when the coefficient ring has finite global dimension, there is a semi-orthogonal decomposition, due to Poulton, relating the two categories. We prove that this decomposition is partially compatible with the monoidal structure and study the morphism it induces on spectra.  相似文献

A novel capillary electrophoresis (CE) approach has been developed for the simultaneous rapid separation and identification of common environmental inorganic anions and cations from a single sample injection. The method utilised a sequential injection-capillary electrophoresis instrument (SI-CE) with capacitively-coupled contactless conductivity detection (C4D) constructed in-house from commercial-off-the-shelf components. Oppositely charged analytes from a single sample plug were simultaneously injected electrokinetically onto two separate capillaries for independent separation and detection. Injection was automated and may occur from a syringe or be directly coupled to an external source in a continuous manner. Software control enabled high sample throughput (17 runs per hour for the target analyte set) and the inclusion of an isolation valve allowed the separation capillaries to be flushed, increasing throughput by removing slow migrating species as well as improving repeatability. Various environmental and industrial samples (subjected only to filtering) were analysed in the laboratory with a 3 min analysis time which allowed the separation of 23 inorganic and small organic anions and cations. Finally, the system was applied to an extended automated analysis of Hobart Southern Water tap water for a period of 48 h. The overall repeatability of the migration times of a 14 analyte standard sample was less than 0.74% under laboratory conditions. LODs ranged from 5 to 61 μg L−1. The combination of automation, high confidence of peak identification, and low limits of detection make this a useful system for the simultaneous identification of a range of common inorganic anions and cations for discrete or continuous monitoring applications.  相似文献

The use of hemoglobin (Hb) contained within red blood cells to drive a controlled radical polymerization via a reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) process is reported for the first time. No pre‐treatment of the Hb or cells was required prior to their use as polymerization catalysts, indicating the potential for synthetic engineering in complex biological microenvironments without the need for ex vivo techniques. Owing to the naturally occurring prevalence of the reagents employed in the catalytic system (Hb and hydrogen peroxide), this approach may facilitate the development of new strategies for in vivo cell engineering with synthetic macromolecules.  相似文献

This work focuses the light on some remarkable achievements in clean and efficient green experimental synthesis, characterization and evaluation of the pharmaceutical and biochemical importance of new series of pyrazolo[1,2-b]phthalazinediones which synthesized through one-pot three-component condensation reaction of the appropriate of 1,2,3-triazolyl-pyrazole-carbaldehydes with active methylene compounds (as malononitriles or ethyl cyanoacetate) and 6-nitrophthalhydrazide using the grinding method in the presence of sodium hydroxide under solvent-free condition at room temperature, in very excellent yields. All the newly synthesized compounds were characterized by physical and chemical tools (FT-IR, 1H NMR and mass spectrometry). In addition, all the new synthesized derivatives were screened for their anticancer activity against hepatic cancer cell lines to evaluate their pharmaceutical importance.  相似文献

Three cationic gemini surface active compounds of the type (1r,4r)-1,4-dialkyl-1,4-dimethy-l-piperazine-1,4-diium bromide (Ia, Ib, and Ic), were synthesized. They were characterized using elemental analysis and 1H-NMR spectra. Their surface-active properties were measured in aqueous solutions with different concentrations at different temperatures (25, 40, and 55°C). Various surface measurements of these gemini surfactants, (compared to the conventional one, 1-Dodecyl-1-methylpiperidinium bromide (a)) were estimated, specifically critical micelle concentration (CMC), effectiveness (πCMC), efficiency (PC20) as well as maximum surface excess (Γmax) and minimum surface area (Amin). The measurements of the gemini compounds gave low CMC, high efficiency in reducing the surface tension, and intense adsorption at air/water interface. These surfactants have lower Krafft points and thus better solubility. Thermodynamic data, free energy, entropy, and enthalpy changes (ΔG°, ΔS°, and ΔH°) for micellization at the air/water interface and also for adsorption in the bulk of surface-active solutions were calculated.  相似文献
