Ultrasound-based methods for temperature monitoring could greatly assist focused ultrasound visualization and treatment planning based on sound speed-induced change in phase as a function of temperature. A method is presented that uses reflex transmission integration, planar projection, and tomographic reconstruction techniques to visualize phase contrast by measuring the sound field before and after heat deposition. Results from experiments and numerical simulations employing a through-transmission setup are presented to demonstrate feasibility of using phase contrast methods for identifying temperature change. A 1.088-MHz focused transducer was used to interrogate a medium with a phase contrast feature, following measurement of the baseline reference field with a hydrophone. A thermal plume in water and a tissue phantom with multiple water columns was used in separate experiments to produce a phase contrast. The reference and phase contrast field scans were numerically backprojected and the phase difference correctly identified the position and orientation of the features. The peak temperature reconstructed from the phase shift was within 0.2 degrees C of the measured temperature in the plume. Simulated results were in good agreement with experimental results. Finally, employment of reflex transmission imaging techniques for adopting a pulse-echo arrangement was simulated, and its future experimental application is discussed.  相似文献

Which acoustic properties of the speech signal differ between rhythmically prominent syllables and non-prominent ones? A production experiment was conducted to identify these acoustic properties. Subjects read out repetitive text to a metronome, trying to match stressed syllables to its beat. The analysis searched for the function of the speech signal that best predicts the timing of the metronome ticks. The most important factor in this function is found to be the contrast in loudness between a syllable and its neighbors. The prominence of a syllable can be deduced from the specific loudness in an (approximately) 360 ms window centered on the syllable in question relative to an (approximately) 800-ms-wide symmetric window.  相似文献

Absence of enteric neurons is associated with thickening of the intestinal muscularis externa in Chagas' disease. The thickening is due to hyperplasia and hypertrophy of the smooth muscle cells and increased extracellular matrix components. The influence of the nervous system on the structure of the smooth muscle cells and its associated matrix has been poorly investigated. An experimental model of denervation of the ileum in rats was performed by application of the surfactant agent benzalkonium chloride that selectively destroys the myenteric plexus. Three months later, ileal tissue samples were obtained and studied by histochemistry and transmission electron microsocopy. Sham operated rats were used as controls. The diameter of collagen fibrils was evaluated in electron micrographs. The histopathological analysis showed thickening of the muscular layer. The thin and weakly arranged collagen and reticulin fibers surrounding the smooth muscle cells, observed in control cases by Picrosirius polarization (PSP) stain method, corresponded to a population of loosely packed thin collagen fibrils of uniform diameters (mean=29.16 nm) at the ultrastructural level. In contrast, the thick and strongly birefringent fibers around the muscle cells, observed in the treated group, stained by PSP, corresponded to densely packed thicker fibrils with large variation in diameter (mean=39.41 nm). Comparison of the data demonstrated statistically significant difference between the groups suggesting that the replacement of loosely arranged reticulin fibers by fibrous tissue (with typical collagen fiber), may alter the biomechanical function resulting in impairment of muscular contraction.  相似文献

The excitation of a high density of carriers in semiconductors can induce an order-to-disorder phase transition due to changes in the potential-energy landscape of the lattice. We report the first direct resolution of the structural details of this phenomenon in freestanding films of polycrystalline and (001)-oriented crystalline Si, using 200-fs electron pulses. At excitation levels greater than approximately 6% of the valence electron density, the crystalline structure of the lattice is lost in <500 fs, a time scale indicative of an electronically driven phase transition. We find that the relaxation process along the modified potential is not inertial but rather involves multiple scattering towards the disordered state.  相似文献

Mg-doped InAlAs and InGaAs films were grown at 560 °C lattice matched to InP semi-insulting substrate by metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE) under various Cp2Mg flow conditions. Hall effect, photoluminescence (PL), high-resolution X-ray diffraction (HR-XRD), and secondary ion mass (SIMS) were the tools used in this work. The crystalline quality and the n-p conversion of the InAlAs and InGaAs/Mg films are described and discussed in relation to the Cp2Mg flow. Distinguishing triple emission peaks in PL spectra is observed and seems to be strongly dependent on the Cp2Mg flow. SIMS is employed to analyze the elements in the epitaxial layers. The variation of indium and magnesium components indicates a decrease of magnesium incorporation during the growth of InAlAs layers leading to a contracted lattice. In addition, the magnesium incorporation in the InGaAs lattice during growth has been confirmed by SIMS.  相似文献

According to the amendment 5 of the IEEE 802.11 standard, 802.11n still uses the distributed coordination function (DCF) access method as mandatory function in access points and wireless stations (essentially to assure compatibility with previous 802.11 versions). This article provides an accurate two dimensional Markov chain model to investigate the throughput performance of IEEE 802.11n networks when frame aggregation and block acknowledgements (Block-ACK) schemes are adopted. Our proposed model considered packet loss either from collisions or channel errors. Further, it took anomalous slots and the freezing of backoff counter into account. The contribution of this work was the analysis of the DCF performance under error-prone channels considering both 802.11n MAC schemes and the anomalous slot in the backoff process. To validate the accuracy of our proposed model, we compared its mathematical simulation results with those obtained using the 802.11n DCF in the network simulator (NS-2) and with other analytical models investigating the performance of 802.11n DCF. Simulation results proved the accuracy of our model.  相似文献

A portable UHV-compatible gas aggregation cluster source, capable of depositing clean mass-selected nanoclusters in situ, has been used at synchrotron radiation facilities to study the magnetic behaviour of exposed and Co-coated Fe clusters in the size range 250 to 540 atoms. X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) studies of isolated and exposed 250-atom clusters show a 10% enhancement in the spin magnetic moment and a 75% enhancement in the orbital magnetic moment relative to bulk Fe. The spin moment monotonically approaches the bulk value with increasing cluster size but the orbital moment does not measurably decay till the cluster size is above ∼ 400 atoms. The total magnetic moments for the supported particles though higher than the bulk value are less than those measured in free clusters. Coating the deposited particles with Co in situ increases the spin moment by a further 10% producing a total moment per atom close to the free cluster value. At low coverages the deposited clusters are super-paramagnetic at temperatures above 10 K but a magnetic remanence at higher temperature emerges as the cluster density increases and for cluster films with a thickness greater than 50 ?(i.e. 2-3 layers of clusters) the remanence becomes greater than that of an Fe film of the same thickness produced by a conventional deposition source. The microstructure of inlaid Cu lines has been quantified as a function of annealing conditions, post-plating, and post-CMP. The grain size distribution was measured using the median intercept method, crystallographic texture was characterized by pole figure analysis, and mechanical stress was determined using x-ray diffraction. The median grain size and mechanical stress level increase with increasing anneal temperature. The crystallographic texture is independent of the anneal temperature and is predominantly (111) with a small fraction of sidewall-nucleated (111) grains. The (111) grains nucleated from the trench bottom have a preferred in-plane orientation. The grain growth in the trench is independent of that in the overburden.  相似文献
