This paper describes a study of the topology of the electron density and its Laplacian for the molecules VF(5), VMe(5), VH(5), CrF(6), CrMe(6), CrOF(4), MoOF(4), CrO(2)F(2,) CrO(2)F(4)(2)(-) and CrOF(5)(-) all of which, except VF(5,) CrF(6), and CrOF(5)(-) have a non-VSEPR geometry. It is shown that in each case the interaction of the ligands with the metal atom core causes it to distort to a nonspherical shape. In particular, the Laplacian of the electron density reveals the formation of local concentrations of electron density in the outer shell of the core, which have a definite geometrical arrangement such as four in a tetrahedral arrangement or five in a square pyramidal or trigonal bipyramidal and six in an octahedral arrangement. Ligands that are predominately covalently bonded are found opposite regions of charge depletion between these core charge concentrations. In VH(5), VMe(5), CrOF(4), and MoOF(4), these core charge concentrations have a square pyramidal arrangement, and the regions of charge depletions have the corresponding inverse square pyramidal arrangement so that these molecules have a square pyramidal geometry rather than a trigonal prism geometry. In CrMe(6), there are five core charge concentrations with a trigonal bipyramidal arrangement so that the regions of charge depletion have a trigonal prismatic arrangement and the molecule has the corresponding trigonal prism geometry rather than an octahedral geometry. In contrast, molecules in which the only ligand is the more ionically bound fluorine are less affected by core distortion and have VSEPR-predicted structures. The unexpected bond angles in CrO(2)F(2) and the preference of CrO(2)F(4)(2)(-) for a cis structure are also discussed in terms of the pattern of core charge concentrations.  相似文献

A predominantly localized electron pair scheme is outlined for describing the electron distribution and bonding in closo borane anions BnHn2− and related electron deficient deltahedral clusters, in which a skeletal electron pair is assigned to each vertex, one pair being regarded as delocalized just inside the roughly spherical surface on which the skeletal atoms lie. The scheme gives a clearer picture of the electron distribution than is conveyed by resonating 2- and 3-centre bonds in the polyhedron edges and faces, and allows the bond orders of the polyhedron edge links to be calculated readily. The consequence of formal removal of BH2+ units from closo species BnHn2− to generate nido species Bn−1Hn−14− and arachno species Bn−2Hn−26− is explored, and seen to allow rationalization of two features of such deltahedral-fragment clusters: (i) why a high-connectivity vertex is left vacant and (ii) why the frontier orbitals of such species concentrate electronic charge around their open faces. Moreover, in the case of D4‘h B4H46− (cf. C4H42−) and D5h B5H56− (cf. C5H5), the approach leads directly to the familiar picture for aromatic ring systems in which the highest filled, doubly degenerate π-bonding molecular orbital concentrates electronic charge in rings above and below the polygon on which the skeletal nuclei lie. It also leads to the expectation that arachno clusters with non-adjacent vacant vertices will be more stable than those with adjacent vacant vertices.  相似文献

A homologous series of 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alkyl ethers (DCBEs) have been synthesized and purified for use as retention index calibrants and internal standards. They are stable, sensitive to ECD and FID and ideal for GC-MS, with base peaks at m/z 159/161. The retention index calibration against the n-alkanes for a linear temperature program (LTP) series is given and recommendations made for the most suitable members of the DCBE series for use as internal standards in organochlorine (OC) residue analysis.  相似文献

Dilution enthalpies, measured using isothermal flow calorimetry, are reported for aqueous solutions of KOH and CsOH at 300°C and 11.0 MPa, 325°C and 14.8 MPa, and for aqueous solutions of NaOH, KOH, and CsOH at 350°C and 17.6 MPa. Previously collected dilution enthalpies for aqueous solutions of NaOH at 300°C and 9.3 MPa and at 325°C and 12.4 MPa were included when fitting the Pitzer parameters. The concentration range of the hydroxide solutions was 0.5–0.02 molal. Parameters for the Pitzer excess Gibbs ion-interaction equation were determined from the fits of the experimental heat data. Equilibrium constants, enthalpy changes, entropy changes, and heat capacity changes for alkali metal ion association with hydroxide ion were estimated from the heat data. For all systems, the enthalpy changes and entropy changes were positive and had accelerating increases with temperature. The resulting equilibrium constants show significant, but smaller, increases with temperature.  相似文献

Commercial solid-phase extraction (SPE) cartridges with C18 bonded silica packings effectively cleaned up acetonitrile extracts of 3-g samples of fats and oils for determination of organophosphorus pesticide residues by gas chromatography with flame photometric detection. Cartridges from three different sources were tested and found to differ in lipid capacity and inertness (free silanol activity). Consequently, the amount of packing (i.e., number of cartridges) and/or the choice of eluent used were adjusted for each brand of cartridge to achieve optimum clean-up and analyte recovery. Seven pesticides with a wide range of polarity (acephate, azodrin, chlorpyrifos, diazinon, malathion, methamidophos and methyl parathion) were separated from coextracted lipids by elution with either acetonitrile or methanol, depending on the brand of cartridge used. Cartridges were regenerated by purging lipids with dichloromethane and were reused numerous times without apparent loss of effectiveness. Recoveries from vegetable oils and butterfat fortified with the seven compounds at levels of 0.05–0.87 μg g?1 ranged from 80 to 103%. Practical limits of determination range from 0.01 to 0.08 μg g?1, depending on analyte response.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Amino acid derived macrocycles with elaborate well-defined stereochemistry are a unique class of compounds that have been isolated from natural sources. Macrocycles like cyclosporine, octreotide, and valinomycin have been used in multiple applications, like drugs or ion sensors. Chemists have long been fascinated by the unique molecular recognition capabilities of these macrocycles and tried to design synthetic analogs with similar functions. This article is focused on reviewing current research on amide and amino acid containing macrocycles that have been developed in research laboratories for biological recognition, specifically for anion sensing, ion transport, carbohydrate sensing, and peptide sensing.  相似文献

Paper presents a simple method of generating a high-speed short water jet (droplet) by over-compression of the water layer sandwiched between bars with high acoustic impedance. The proposed method allows the creation of short high-speed water jets (droplets) with extremely simple and inexpensive equipment. Theoretically, jets with speeds higher than 1500?m/sec can be generated by this method.  相似文献

We have explored the structural and energetic properties of a series of RMX3-NH3 (M=Si, Ge; X=F, Cl; R=CH3, C6H5) complexes using density functional theory and low-temperature infrared spectroscopy. In the minimum-energy structures, the NH3 binds axially to the metal, opposite a halogen, while the organic group resides in an equatorial site. Remarkably, the primary mode of interaction in several of these systems seems to be hydrogen bonding (C-H--N) rather than a tetrel (N→M) interaction. This is particularly clear for the RMCl3-NH3 complexes, and analyses of the charge distributions of the acid fragment corroborate this assessment. We also identified a set of metastable geometries in which the ammonia binds opposite the organic substituent in an axial orientation. Acid fragment charge analyses also provide a clear rationale as to why these configurations are less stable than the minimum-energy structures. Matrix-isolation infrared spectra provide clear evidence for the occurrence of the minimum-energy form of CH3SiCl3–NH3, but analogous results for CH3GeCl3–NH3 are less conclusive. Computational scans of the M-N distance potentials for CH3SiCl3–NH3 and CH3GeCl3–NH3, both in the gas phase and bulk dielectric media, reveal a great deal of anharmonicity and a propensity for condensed-phase structural change.  相似文献
