The effect of a thin metal film with positive dielectric permittivity on the performance of an optical-fibre surface-plasmon-wave polariser is presented. The terahertz frequency spectrum of pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN) is calculated using Discover 1 with the COMPASS 2 force field, CASTEP[3] and PWscf. 4 The calculations are compared to each other and to terahertz spectra (0.3–3 THz) of crystalline PETN recorded at 4 K. A number of analysis methods are used to characterise the calculated normal modes.  相似文献

We demonstrate terahertz (THz) frequency imaging using a single quantum cascade laser (QCL) device for both generation and sensing of THz radiation. Detection is achieved by utilizing the effect of self-mixing in the THz QCL, and, specifically, by monitoring perturbations to the voltage across the QCL, induced by light reflected from an external object back into the laser cavity. Self-mixing imaging offers high sensitivity, a potentially fast response, and a simple, compact optical design, and we show that it can be used to obtain high-resolution reflection images of exemplar structures.  相似文献

Radium concentration was determined in 23 types of bottled mineral waters, commercially available in Romania. Using the Lucas cells with the device Luk 3A, the radium concentration was determined directly, after the radon balanced with radium. Erbium-doped fibers are characterized using loss and gain coefficients, and one amplifier saturation parameter. With a large-signal amplifier model that resolves the amplified spontaneous emission spectrum, these easily measured parameters allow the fiber performance in 980-nm or 1480-nm pumped optical amplifiers to be assessed rapidly. In tests at 980-nm pump wavelength, good agreement between the theoretical and experimentally measured gains was obtained with amplifiers having either germano-silicate or germano-alumino-silicate core fibers.<>  相似文献

This paper focuses on jammed timing channels. Pure delay jammers with a maximum delay constraint, an average delay constraint, or a maximum buffer size constraint are explored, for continuous-time or discrete-time packet waveforms. Fluid waveform approximations of each of these classes of waveforms are employed to aid in analysis. Channel capacity is defined and an information-theoretic game based on mutual information rate is studied. Min-max optimal jammers and max-min optimal input processes are sought. Bounds on the min-max and max-min mutual information rates are described, and numerical examples are given. For maximum-delay-constrained (MDC) jammers with continuous-time packet waveforms, saddle-point input and jammer strategies are identified. The capacity of the maximum-delay constrained jamming channel with continuous-time packet waveforms is shown to equal the mutual information rate of the saddle point. For MDC jammers with discrete-time packet waveforms, saddle-point strategies are shown to exist. Jammers which have quantized batch departures at regular intervals are shown to perform well. Input processes with batches at regular intervals perform well for MDC or maximum-buffer-size-constrained jammers.  相似文献
