Modifications to the commercially available SPICE 2 program that allow the accurate simulation of thyristor circuits are discussed. A near-ideal switch model of a thyristor is developed using resistive components, thus eliminating the problems associated with transistor models. The simulator SPICE 2G.6 is modified and a new input format for the thyristor is implemented. Rib waveguides have been fabricated in pulsed-laser-deposited Ti:sapphire layers using photolithographic patterning and subsequent Ar/sup +/-beam milling. Fluorescence output powers up to 300 /spl mu/W have been observed from the ribs following excitation by a 3-W multiline argon laser. Mode intensity profiles show high optical confinement and the measured beam propagation factors M/sub x//sup 2/ and M/sub y//sup 2/ of 1.12 and 1.16, respectively, indicate single transverse-mode fluorescence emission. Loss measurements using the self-pumped phase conjugation technique have yielded comparable values (1.7 dB/cm) for the ribs and the unstructured planar waveguide counterparts. The combination of optimum modal properties and strong optical confinement, together with sufficient levels of fluorescence output, make the single-moded Ti:sapphire rib waveguides a very interesting candidate as a fluorescence source for optical coherence tomography applications.  相似文献

This paper presents the results of a preliminary investigation into the distribution of peak factors in the QPSK message space for different numbers of carriers with the aim of determining those messages which exhibit a low peak factor relative to a given threshold. A group structure is suggested which associatescosets of 16 messages intoequivalence classes having the same peak power. Algorithms for finding the members of cosets and equivalence classes are given. These messages are then rank ordered by peak power to show how a suitable code could be derived. It appears that allocating just one or two bits of redundancy to such a code will be sufficient to achieve substantial reductions in peak factor.  相似文献

We report what is to our knowledge the first laser operation of Nd(3+) -doped LiNbO(3) near 900 nm. An absorbed power threshold of 26 mW was obtained when the device was pumped at 814 nm. The design of the waveguide geometry to favor laser operation at this wavelength is demonstrated.  相似文献

Despite extensive progress to engineer hydrogels for a broad range of technologies, practical applications have remained elusive due to their (until recently) poor mechanical properties and lack of fabrication approaches, which constrain active structures to simple geometries. This study demonstrates a family of ionic composite hydrogels with excellent mechanical properties that can be rapidly 3D‐printed at high resolution using commercial stereolithography technology. The new material design leverages the dynamic and reversible nature of ionic interactions present in the system with the reinforcement ability of nanoparticles. The composite hydrogels combine within a single platform tunable stiffness, toughness, extensibility, and resiliency behavior not reported previously in other engineered hydrogels. In addition to their excellent mechanical performance, the ionic composites exhibit fast gelling under near‐UV exposure, remarkable conductivity, and fast osmotically driven actuation. The design of such ionic composites, which combine a range of tunable properties and can be readily 3D‐printed into complex architectures, provides opportunities for a variety of practical applications such as artificial tissue, soft actuators, compliant conductors, and sensors for soft robotics.  相似文献

Varying amounts of water have been solubilized in a micelle solution of sodium di-2-pentyl–sulfoscuccinate in benzene and the complex permittivity has been observed in the range 200 KHz to 10 MHz. Part of a dielectric dispersion is seen, which extends to higher frequencies with a broad distribution of relaxation times. Due to association processes, the static dielectric increment is found to vary non-linearly with hydrated micelle concentration and with the amount of solubilized water, whereas a linear variation with micelle concentration is found if no water is added. These effects are explained on the assumption that part of the solubilized water increases the dipole moment of the micelle. Additionally, at higher water concentrations, a sudden increase in the conductivity of the solution is observed, which is taken to indicate a conformational change of the solubilized micelle.  相似文献

The study of heterodentate molecules adsorbed on metal electrodes provides an opportunity to expand the functionality of modified surfaces while offering insights into the surface and intramolecular electronic interactions of organic adsorbates. The adsorption of 2-(2'-thienyl)pyridine, a molecule containing both pyridine and thiophene moieties, on a Au(111) electrode is reported. Adsorption was characterized by electrochemistry in neutral and basic aqueous electrolyte and was compared to that of pyridine. The aqueous electrochemistry of thiophene on Au(111) was also characterized for comparison purposes. At negative potentials, in the presence of 2-(2'-thienyl)pyridine, a diffuse, pi-bonded monolayer was formed, and a phase transition to a close-packed N- and/or S-bonded configuration was observed near -0.4 V in a 1 mM solution of adsorbate, similar to that seen in pyridine on Au(111). The thiophene-like oxidative dimerization of the molecule was confirmed at positive potentials using in situ fluorescence microscopy by comparison with the spectrum of the chemically synthesized dimer.  相似文献
