We present a study on the fluctuations of semiflexible actin filaments using fluorescence videomicroscopy, focusing on the end-to-end fluctuations of single filaments. In order to specifically measure the position of the polymer's ends, we developed a novel noninvasive method that consists of annealing short end tags to the filaments. This allows us to probe polymer fluctuations to a very high accuracy. We compared the distribution of the end-to-end distance with recent theoretical results, and found excellent agreement. We also studied the dynamics of the mean-square end-to-end distance deltaR2(t) and orientation of the ends, deltaTheta(2)(t), finding power laws t(3/4) and t(1/4), respectively. Scaling behavior for deltaR2(t) is observed over several decades in relaxation time in agreement with theoretical results. 相似文献

This paper reports on our attempt to design an efficient exact algorithm based on column generation for the cutting stock
problem. The main focus of the research is to study the extend to which standard branch-and-bound enhancement features such
as variable fixing, the tightening of the formulation with cutting planes, early branching, and rounding heuristics can be
usefully incorporated in a branch-and-price algorithm. We review and compare lower bounds for the cutting stock problem. We
propose a pseudo-polynomial heuristic. We discuss the implementation of the important features of the integer programming
column generation algorithm and, in particular, the implementation of the branching scheme. Our computational results demonstrate
the efficiency of the resulting algorithm for various classes of bin packing and cutting stock problems.

The spin-transition (1A1?5T2) behaviour of a new mononuclear iron(II) compound [FeII(L)3][PF6]2[L = 2-[3-(2′-pyridyl)pyrazole-1-ylmethyl]pyridine] has been investigated by 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy. Analysis of the Mössbauer spectra revealed low value of the quadrupole splitting of the high-spin state which reflects iron(II) to be in nearly cubic lattice site. Mössbauer spectra under light show the light-induced excited spin state trapping effect and the observed quadrupole splitting of the metastable high-spin state is found little sensitive to the high-spin fraction value. DFT calculations are in progress to document the almost cubic nature of the ligand-field acting on the iron atom. 相似文献

Two macromolecular constructs incorporating a single polymer backbone with multiple photochromic side chains are developed. Both systems are prepared from preformed photochromic [1,3]oxazines after the ring‐opening polymerization of their norbornene appendages. In solution, UV illumination of these polymers opens the [1,3]oxazine rings in their side chains in less than 6 ns and with a quantum yield of 0.09 in both instances. The photogenerated species incorporate a 4‐nitrophenolate chromophore, and hence, their formation is accompanied by the appearance of an intense band in the visible region of the absorption spectrum. The photoproducts revert spontaneously to the original state with first‐order kinetics in microseconds. Furthermore, both photochromic polymers tolerate hundreds of switching cycles with no sign of degradation, even in the presence of molecular oxygen. Thus, this design logic and choice of functional building blocks can translate into the realization of innovative photoresponsive materials with excellent photochromic performance. 相似文献

This article shows the results obtained when using secure spread-spectrum watermarking on gray-scale images in the watermark only attack (WOA) framework. Two secure modulations, natural watermarking (NW) and circular watermarking (CW), are compared with classical insecure modulations, spread spectrum (SS) and improved spread spectrum (ISS), from distortion, robustness, and security points of view. Implementations of CW and NW for still images are proposed: they use a wavelet transform and variable strength embedding with bounded distortion. Robustness of these schemes is assured by using JPEG compression and security is quantified by using a source separation technique: independent component analysis (ICA). We report the modifications of the microscopic dynamics of a colloidal glass submitted to shear. We use multispeckle diffusing wave spectroscopy to monitor the evolution of the spontaneous slow relaxation processes after the samples have been submitted to various straining. We show that high shear rejuvenates the system and accelerates its dynamics, whereas moderate shear over-ages the system. This paper first presents a groupware service and an associated protocol that manage the dynamic membership of agents inside cooperative groups and second gives the design methodology that has been used for defining the service and the protocol. The model used to represent cooperative groups is based on graphs that give the knowledge relationships between agents and define the dynamics of the group. The protocol providing the membership service is specified using the VAL formal specification environment based on a Petri net formalism. The VAL specification is verified using observational and safety projections derived from the reachability graph. Then the VAL specification is translated and adapted to an Estelle specification. The Estelle specification has been used for a final implementation of the protocol on top of a distributed platform. 相似文献
