For a large class of infinite discrete semigroups, we prove that right cancellative points in β S can have arbitrary norms or sizes. More precisely, if for x∈β S, we let ||x||= min{|A| : x
}, and for each infinite cardinal κ, we let P κ (S)={x∈β S : ||x||=κ} then the set of points in P κ (S) which are right cancellative in β S has an interior which is dense in P κ (S). The method to prove this result enables us also to calculate the already known cardinal of the pairwise disjoint left ideals in β S : 2^ 2 |S| . We give an application to the Banach algebra ∈fty (S) * , by showing that the vector space dimension of any non-zero right ideal in this algebra is at least 2^ 2 |S| .  相似文献

The effect of Zn doping on the magnetic properties of CdCr2S4 systems is studied by mean field theory and high-temperature series expansion (HTSE). The nearest neighbouring and the next-neighbouring super-exchange interactions Jl(x) and J2(x) are evaluated for the spinel system Zn, Cd1-xCr2S4 in the range 0 〈 x 〈 1. The intra-planar and the inter-planar interactions are deduced. The HTSE combined with the Padd approximant method (PA) is applied to the spinel system ZnxCdl-,Cr2S4. The magnetic phase diagram, i.e. Tc versus dilution x, is obtained. The critical exponents associated with the magnetic susceptibility 7 and the correlation length u are deduced. The obtained theoretical results are in agreement with the experimental data obtained by magnetic measurements.  相似文献

In order to avoid transmission collisions in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), a reliable and efficient medium access control (MAC) protocol is needed. Vehicular MANETs (VANETs) have vehicles as network nodes and their main characteristics are high mobility and speed. Active safety applications for VANETs need to establish reliable communications with minimal transmission collisions. Only few MAC protocols designed for MANETs can be adapted to efficiently work in VANETs. In this article we provide a short overview on some MANET MAC protocols, and then we summarize and qualitatively compare the ones suited for VANETs  相似文献

The following results are proved for a non-compact, locallycompact group G: the dimension of every non-trivial right idealin L1(G)** (equipped with the first Arens product) is at least, where (G) is the minimalnumber of compact sets required to cover G; there exist left ideals in L1(G)** and in LUC(G)* with trivialintersections, and the linear span of right-cancellable elementsis weak*-dense in the annihilator of C0(G) in LUC(G)* and inthe annihilator of (theL-functions that vanish at infinity) in L(G)*. Gold nanoparticles of improved stability against aggregation were prepared using poly(ethylene oxide)-block-poly(epsilon-caprolactone) (PEO-b-PCL) star-block copolymers. A five-arm star-shaped macroinitiator (PEO) was utilized for the automated parallel controlled ring-opening polymerization of epsilon-caprolactone to prepare a series of PEO-b-PCL star-block copolymers with a constant PEO core linked to PCL blocks of variable length. The PEO core was swelled with KAuCl4 in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF), and gold nanoparticles were subsequently obtained by reduction with NaBH4. Since the process was always templated by the same PEO core for all investigated polymers, the average dimension of the formed gold nanoparticles was in the same range for all star-block copolymers. In sharp contrast, the size distribution and long-term stability against aggregation of the gold nanoparticles dispersed in DMF were strongly dependent on the PCL block length, confirming the role of PCL blocks as stabilizing blocks for these nanoparticles.  相似文献

The paper proposes a unified approach to many key theorems proved in the last twenty years in different areas of abstract harmonic analysis. This approach is based on the so-called slowly oscillating functions which were introduced in coarse geometry. In addition to this method being the most natural and simple, it also leads to the generalisation of some of the results and to the achievement of some new results. Satellites are expected to have an important role in providing the Internet protocol (IP) multicast service to complementing next-generation terrestrial networks. In this paper, we focus on the deployment of IP multicast over the next generation of digital video broadcasting-based geosynchronous earth orbit satellites supporting multiple spot beams and on-board switching technologies. We propose a new encapsulation scheme optimized for IP multicast, which has two distinct modes enabling two alternative on-board switching approaches: the self-switching and the label-switching. We also detail a set of mechanisms and protocols for ground stations, as well as for the on-board processor to allow an efficient multicast forwarding in this type of environment, while reducing the load of control and data messages in the satellite segment, and building efficient multicast delivery trees reaching only the spot beams containing at least one member of the corresponding multicast session. To integrate satellite links in the terrestrial Internet, we present satellite multicast adaptation protocol (SMAP), a protocol which is implemented in satellite stations to process incoming protocol independent multicast-sparse mode (PIM-SM) messages sent by terrestrial nodes to the satellite system. SMAP helps to update the tables required for the mapping between IP packets and MPEG-2 data segments, their switching on board the satellite, and their filtering at the satellite receivers.  相似文献

Three new bimetallic oxamato-based magnets with the proligand 4,5-dimethyl-1,2-phenylenebis(oxamato) (dmopba) were synthesized using water or dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) as solvents. Single crystal X-ray diffraction provided structures for two of them: [MnCu(dmopba)(H(2)O)(3)](n)·4nH(2)O (1) and [MnCu(dmopba)(DMSO)(3)](n)·nDMSO (2). The crystalline structures for both 1 and 2 consist of linearly ordered oxamato-bridged Mn(II)Cu(II) bimetallic chains. The magnetic characterization revealed a typical behaviour of ferrimagnetic chains for 1 and 2. Least-squares fits of the experimental magnetic data performed in the 300-20 K temperature range led to J(MnCu) = -27.9 cm(-1), g(Cu) = 2.09 and g(Mn) = 1.98 for 1 and J(MnCu) = -30.5 cm(-1), g(Cu) = 2.09 and g(Mn) = 2.02 for 2 (H = -J(MnCu)∑S(Mn),(i)(S(Cu,i) + S(Cu),(i-1))). The two-dimensional ferrimagnetic system [Me(4)N](2n){Co(2)[Cu(dmopba)](3)}(n)·4nDMSO·nH(2)O (3) was prepared by reaction of Co(II) ions and an excess of [Cu(dmopba)](2-) in DMSO. The study of the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility as well as the temperature and field dependences of the magnetization revealed a cluster glass-like behaviour for 3.  相似文献

Highly crystallized hydrogenated silicon layers were obtained via the treatment of hydrogenated polymorphous silicon films in a molecular hydrogen ambient. This contrasts other postdeposition studies that obtained nanocrystalline silicon films but necessitated either a plasma activation or high-temperature annealing. The structure of the samples was analyzed by Raman spectroscopy to determine the crystallite volume fraction, which was found to increase up to 80% within 1 hour of treatment. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) showed that the roughness of the surfaces was found to increase after the H2 treatment. Optical transmission and spectroscopic ellipsometry revealed the pronounced porosity of the films characterized by a static refractive index that is below three, which is a low value for hydrogenated silicon films and a void fraction that is around 15% in the bulk of the films. The effect of the hydrogen molecules on the structure of the films was discussed in terms of the compressive stress exerted by the molecules, trapped in structural inhomogeneities, on the amorphous tissue. It is suggested that for this process to take effect, the films need to be porous and that the amorphous network needs to be in a “relaxed” state.  相似文献
