Probabilistic two-phase flow map data is experimentally obtained for R134a at 25.0, 35.0, and 49.7°C, R410A at 25.0°C, mass fluxes from 100 to 600 kg/m2-s, qualities from 0 to1 in 8.00, 5.43, 3.90, and 1.74 mm I.D. single, smooth, adiabatic, horizontal tubes in order to extend probabilistic two-phase flow map modeling techniques to single tubes. A new web camera based flow visualization technique utilizing an illuminated diffuse striped background was used to enhance images, detect fine films, and aid in the automated image recognition process developed in the present study. This technique has an average time fraction classification error of less than 0.01.  相似文献

The problem of flow and heat transfer of an electrically conducting non-Newtonian fluid over a continuously moving cylinder in the presence of a uniform magnetic field is analyzed for the case of power-law variation in the temperature and concentration at the cylinder surface. A diffusion equation with a chemical reaction source term is taken into account. The governing non-similar partial differential equation are solved numerically by employing shooting method. The effects of various parameters on the velocity, temperature and concentration profiles as well as the heat and mass transfer rate from the cylinder surface to the surrounding fluid are presented graphically and in tabulated form.  相似文献

Nanostructured materials, especially nanoparticles (NPs), of noble metal NPs such as silver (Ag) have been the focus of research in recent decades because of their distinct physical, chemical, and biological properties. These materials have attracted considerable attention because of their potential applications, such as catalysis, biosensing, drug delivery, and nanodevice fabrication. Previous studies on Ag NPs have clearly demonstrated that their electromagnetic, optical, and catalytic properties are strongly influenced by their shape, size, and size distribution, which can be varied by using different synthetic methods, reducing agents, and stabilizers. The valuable optical properties of Ag NPs have allowed for new approaches in sensing and imaging applications, offering a wide range of detection modes, such as colorimetric, scattering, and surface‐enhanced Raman scattering techniques, at extremely low detection limits. Here, an overview of the various chemical, physical, and biological properties of Ag NP fabrication approaches to obtain the various shapes and sizes is presented.  相似文献

This paper introduces two real-time elastography techniques based on analytic minimization (AM) of regularized cost functions. The first method (1D AM) produces axial strain and integer lateral displacement, while the second method (2D AM) produces both axial and lateral strains. The cost functions incorporate similarity of radio-frequency (RF) data intensity and displacement continuity, making both AM methods robust to small decorrelations present throughout the image. We also exploit techniques from robust statistics to make the methods resistant to large local decorrelations. We further introduce Kalman filtering for calculating the strain field from the displacement field given by the AM methods. Simulation and phantom experiments show that both methods generate strain images with high SNR, CNR and resolution. Both methods work for strains as high as 10% and run in real-time. We also present in vivo patient trials of ablation monitoring. An implementation of the 2D AM method as well as phantom and clinical RF-data can be downloaded.  相似文献

Increasing worldwide terrorist attacks involving explosives presents a growing need for a rapid and ranged explosive detection method that can safely be deployed in the field. Stand‐off Raman spectroscopy shows great promise; however, the radiant exposures of lasers required for adequate signal generation are often much greater than what is safe for the eye or the skin, restricting use of the technique to unpopulated areas. Here, by determining the safe exposure levels for lasers typically used in Raman spectroscopy, optimal parameter values are identified, which produce the largest possible detection range using power densities that do not exceed the eye‐safe limit. It is shown that safe ultraviolet pulse energies can be more than three orders of magnitude greater than equivalent safe visible pulse energies. Coupling this to the 16‐fold increase in Raman signal obtained in the ultraviolet at 266 nm over that at 532 nm results in a 131 times larger detection range for the eye‐safe 266‐nm system over an equivalent eye‐safe 532‐nm laser system. For the Raman system described here, this translates to a maximum range of 42 m for detecting Teflon with a 266‐nm laser emitting a 100‐mm diameter beam of 23.5‐mJ nanosecond pulses. Molecular dynamics typically incorporates a stochastic-dynamical device, a “thermostat,” in order to drive the system to the Gibbs (canonical) distribution at a prescribed temperature. When molecular dynamics is used to compute time-dependent properties, such as autocorrelation functions or diffusion constants, at a given temperature, there is a conflict between the need for the thermostat to perturb the time evolution of the system as little as possible and the need to establish equilibrium rapidly. In this article we define a quantity called the “efficiency” of a thermostat which relates the perturbation introduced by the thermostat to the rate of convergence of average kinetic energy to its equilibrium value. We show how to estimate this quantity analytically, carrying out the analysis for several thermostats, including the Nosé-Hoover-Langevin thermostat due to Samoletov et al. (J. Stat. Phys. 128:1321–1336, 2007) and a generalization of the “stochastic velocity rescaling” method suggested by Bussi et al. (J. Chem. Phys. 126:014101, 2007). We find efficiency improvements (proportional to the number of degrees of freedom) for the new schemes compared to Langevin Dynamics. Numerical experiments are presented which precisely confirm our theoretical estimates.  相似文献

This paper presents different relay and jammer selection schemes for one-way cooperative networks to increase the security against malicious eavesdroppers. We consider a single source-destination cooperative network with multiple intermediate nodes and one or more eavesdroppers. The selection in the proposed schemes is made with the presence of direct links and the assumption that the broadcast phase is unsecured. The proposed schemes select three intermediate nodes. The first selected node operates in the conventional relay mode and assists the source to deliver its data to the corresponding destination via a Decode-and-Forward strategy. The second and third selected nodes are used in different communication phases as jammers to create intentional interference at the eavesdroppers’ nodes. Moreover, a hybrid scheme which switches between jamming and non-jamming modes is introduced in this paper. The proposed schemes are analyzed in terms of ergodic secrecy capacity and secrecy outage probability. Extensive analysis and a set of simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the different schemes presented in this work. The obtained results show that the proposed schemes with jamming outperform the conventional non-jamming schemes and the hybrid switching scheme further improves the secrecy capacity. The impact of changing both the eavesdroppers and the relays location on ergodic secrecy capacity and secrecy outage probability is also discussed. Finally, the impact of the presence of multiple eavesdroppers is studied in this paper.  相似文献

This paper aims to formulate the fractional quasi‐inverse scattering method. Also, we give a positive answer to the following question: can the Ablowitz‐Kaup‐Newell‐Segur (AKNS) method be applied to the space–time fractional nonlinear differential equations? Besides, we derive the Bäcklund transformations for the fractional systems under study. Also, we construct the fractional quasi‐conservation laws for the considered fractional equations from the defined fractional quasi AKNS‐like system. The nonlinear fractional differential equations to be studied are the space–time fractional versions of the Kortweg‐de Vries equation, modified Kortweg‐de Vries equation, the sine‐Gordon equation, the sinh‐Gordon equation, the Liouville equation, the cosh‐Gordon equation, the short pulse equation, and the nonlinear Schrödinger equation.  相似文献

This paper introduces the application of three techniques to improve the performance of one-bit differential detection (DD). The Gaussian minimum shift keying (GMSK) modulation technique is employed. The proposed techniques are spread spectrum, offset receiver diversity and decision feedback (DF). A comparative study shows that when applying the direct sequence spread spectrum (DS-SS), the performance is improved by 9.3 dB at a bit error rate (BER) of 10–3 and the processing gain is equal to 10 relative to that given by Elnoubi [IEEE Trans. Veh. Tech. VT-35(1986)162–167]. When using the offset receiver diversity technique, the corresponding relative improvement is 13 dB. When employing both SS and offset diversity at the same BER, 22 and 25.7 dB improvements are attained for DS and frequency hopping (FH), respectively. A further improvement of about 1 dB is obtained when DF is used.  相似文献

A new series of bifunctional organoiron thio‐ and seleno‐terephthalate complexes — (η‐C5H5)Fe(CO)2ECO(C6H4)COX [E = S; X = C6H11NH, (C2H5)2N; and E = Se; X = P? CH3? C6H4? NH, C6H5? C2N2O? S, m? NO2? C6H4? CH?CH? COO] — has been synthesized via the organic transformation reactions of the terephthaloyl chloride precursors η‐(C5H5)Fe(CO)2ECO(C6H4)COCl with the desired nucleophiles. These new complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR and 1H NMR spectra. The above complexes, in addition to some other selected analogues, were tested for their antifungal, antibacterial and mutagenic activity. Our results show that all the selenium‐containing compounds have antifungal activity on Candida albicans and antibacterial effects against Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus. Four of the six selenium‐containing derivatives exhibited growth inhibitory effects against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and/or Escherichia coli. Sulfur‐containing derivatives elicited activity against C. albicans, and each one of them showed activity against at least one of the bacterial strains that have been used in this investigation. Two selenium‐ and two sulfur‐containing derivatives showed mutagenic activity against one or more than one strain of the Salmonella typhimurium using the Ames test.
