Variation of MIM damascene capacitor HF performance evolving from 2D to 3D architectures

High-frequency (HF) characterisations of 2D and 3D metal-insulator-metal (MIM) damascene capacitors are presented focusing on the impact of the MIM architecture on the HF performance of capacitors integrated in the back end of line with Si₃N₄ as the insulating material. Dedicated test structures were integrated and HF characterisation methods developed. Results show that properties (parasitic inductance and cutoff frequency) of MIM capacitors improve with the 3D architecture.     

Measuring LCSTs by novel temperature gradient methods: evidence for intermolecular interactions in mixed polymer solutions

Herein we describe studies of molecular interactions in thermoresponsive polymers as they go through phase transitions in aqueous solutions. By using our recently reported linear temperature gradient setup for studying the effects of temperature on chemical processes, we demonstrate the ability to probe lower critical solution temperature (LCST) behavior with excellent precision. This method also provides a simple and convenient way to assay the LCST of solutions containing more than one polymer and follow the clouding kinetics of polymer mixtures in real time.

The Hanle effect has been used to measure the lifetimes of the three triplet levels of the (4s, 4d) configuration of zinc as well as the cross sections for destruction of alignment by collisions against rare gas atoms or nitrogen molecules.     

Paramagnetische Relaxation im Holmiumäthylsulfat

The paramagnetic relaxation of Ho _x Y_1?x (C₂H₅SO₄)₃·9H₂O (x=1; 0.14; 0.1) was investigated with a mutual inductance bridge with frequencies fromν=10 sec^?1 toν=10600 sec^?1 in the temperature range betweenT=1.14°K and 2.11°K. In the diluted samples there is a strong influence of cross relaxation processes between the hyperfine levels on both the paramagnetic relaxation and the paramagnetic susceptibility. One and two spin cross relaxation processes were found. The susceptibility measured as a function of frequency is compared with the susceptibility calculated from the known energy levels of Ho(C₂H₅SO₄)₃·9H₂O. Thus the way how the relaxation process takes place between the various systems (crystal field-, Zeeman-, dipol dipol coupling-, hyperfine structure-, lattice- and bath-system) can be deduced. Some preliminary measurements atν=24.10⁶ sec^?1 are reported and discussed.

Gaschromatographische Untersuchungen zur Frage des Honigaromas

Zusammenfassung Das Aroma von Honigen wurde gaschromatographisch untersucht. Die Trennung wurde auf einer Makro-Golay-Säule (Carbowax 1500 als stationäre Phase) durchgeführt. Als Anzeigegerät diente ein Flammenionisationsdetektor (FID). Es konnte gezeigt werden, daß Phenylalanin ein Precursor des artspezifischen Aromas von Honigen ist.

Aroma components of different honeys were investigated gaschromatographically, using a macroGolay column with Carbowax 1500 as stationary phase and a flame ionisation detector. It could be shown that phenylalanine is a precursor of the specific aroma components of honey.
