Metal-enhanced Singlet Oxygen Generation: A Consequence of Plasmon Enhanced Triplet Yields 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this Rapid Communication, we report the first observation of Metal-Enhanced singlet oxygen generation (ME1O2). Rose Bengal in close proximity to Silver Island Films (SiFs) can generate more singlet oxygen, a three-fold increase observed,
as compared to an identical glass control sample but containing no silver. The enhanced absorption of the photo-sensitizer,
due to coupling to silver surface plasmons, facilitates enhanced singlet oxygen generation. The singlet oxygen yield can potentially
be adjusted by modifying the choice of MEF (Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence) & MEP (Metal Enhance Phosphorescence) parameters,
such as distance dependence for plasmon coupling and wavelength emission of the coupling fluorophore. This is a most helpful
observation in understanding the interactions between plasmons and lumophores, and this approach may well be of significance

Thermal desorption gas chromatography mass spectrometry (TD-GC/MS) is becoming more commonly used for the quantification and identification of organic compounds in particulate matter (PM), including ambient and source PM such as diesel particulate matter (DPM). It has been proven as an alternative to the traditional solvent extraction (SE) method and liquid injection gas chromatograph mass spectrometry (LI-GC/MS). However, little information is available on how different types of TD-GC/MS systems compare to each other for analysis of real-world PM samples or to direct LI-GC/MS for analysis of PM components in a test solution. To address this, CanmetENERGY Characterization Laboratory initiated a round robin with the participation of 10 laboratories worldwide. Three sample types were analysed: (i) a test solution with a suite of pure compounds commonly found in PM, analysed by TD-GC/MS and LI-GC/MS; (ii) a DPM sample, analysed by TD-GC/MS and SE; and (iii) an ambient PM sample, analysed by TD-GC/MS. The first part of the study showed good overall performance and comparability between the different TD-GC/MS systems and LI-GC/MS method for the analysis of PM components in a test solution, with some variability of results due to system types and parameters used, concentration of calibration standards, and whether or not an internal standards was used. The analysis of the DPM sample showed greater variability between laboratories and methods as many PM components were present near the detection limit and matrix effects particularly affected the TD-GC/MS analysis of heavier n-alkanes. In the last part of the study, for the analysis of an ambient PM sample by TD-GC/MS, the analysis of variance showed good comparison between labs for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (94% non-significant), but slightly lower for n-alkanes (68%) and biomarkers (57%). 相似文献

Chicken is the most consumed meat in North America. Concentrations of arsenic in chicken range from μg kg−1 to mg kg−1. However, little is known about the speciation of arsenic in chicken meat. The objective of this research was to develop a method enabling determination of arsenic species in chicken breast muscle. We report here enzyme-enhanced extraction of arsenic species from chicken meat, separation using anion exchange chromatography (HPLC), and simultaneous detection with both inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICPMS) and electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (ESIMS). We compared the extraction of arsenic species using several proteolytic enzymes: bromelain, papain, pepsin, proteinase K, and trypsin. With the use of papain-assisted extraction, 10 arsenic species were extracted and detected, as compared to 8 detectable arsenic species in the water/methanol extract. The overall extraction efficiency was also improved using a combination of ultrasonication and papain digestion, as compared to the conventional water/methanol extraction. Detection limits were in the range of 1.0–1.8 μg arsenic per kg chicken breast meat (dry weight) for seven arsenic species: arsenobetaine (AsB), inorganic arsenite (AsIII), dimethylarsinic acid (DMA), monomethylarsonic acid (MMA), inorganic arsenate (AsV), 3-nitro-4-hydroxyphenylarsonic acid (Roxarsone), and N-acetyl-4-hydroxy-m-arsanilic acid (NAHAA). Analysis of breast meat samples from six chickens receiving feed containing Roxarsone showed the presence of (mean ± standard deviation μg kg−1) AsB (107 ± 4), AsIII (113 ± 7), AsV (7 ± 2), MMA (51 ± 5), DMA (64 ± 6), Roxarsone (18 ± 1), and four unidentified arsenic species (approximate concentration 1–10 μg kg−1). 相似文献

In this article we describe a computational method that automatically generates chemically relevant compound ideas from an initial molecule, closely integrated with in silico models, and a probabilistic scoring algorithm to highlight the compound ideas most likely to satisfy a user-defined profile of required properties. The new compound ideas are generated using medicinal chemistry 'transformation rules' taken from examples in the literature. We demonstrate that the set of 206 transformations employed is generally applicable, produces a wide range of new compounds, and is representative of the types of modifications previously made to move from lead-like to drug-like compounds. Furthermore, we show that more than 94% of the compounds generated by transformation of typical drug-like molecules are acceptable to experienced medicinal chemists. Finally, we illustrate an application of our approach to the lead that ultimately led to the discovery of duloxetine, a marketed serotonin reuptake inhibitor. 相似文献

The palladium catalyzed alkoxycarbonylation and aminocarbonylation of vinyl tosylates are described. A variety of ketone and aldehyde derived vinyl tosylates may be carbonylated in the presence of primary, secondary, and tertiary alcohols, or primary and secondary amines, to provide the corresponding esters and amides in good yields. We show that composite de novo structures can be generated using bio-electrosprays. Mouse lung fibroblasts are bio-electrosprayed directly with a biopolymer to form cell-bearing matrices, which are viable even when implanted subcutaneously into murine hosts. Generated cell-bearing matrices are assessed in-vitro and found to undergo all expected cellular behaviour. Subsequent in-vivo studies demonstrate the implanted living matrices integrating as expected with the surrounding microenvironment. The in-vitro and in-vivo studies elucidate and validate the ability for either bio-electrosprays or cell electrospinning to form a desired living architecture for undergoing investigation for repairing, replacing and rejuvenating damaged and/or ageing tissues. 相似文献

The effect of the cyclone inlet dimensions on the performance and flow field pattern has been investigated computationally using the Reynolds stress turbulence model (RSM) for five cyclone separators. The results show that, the maximum tangential velocity in the cyclone decreases with increasing the cyclone inlet dimensions. No acceleration occurs in the cyclone space (the maximum tangential velocity is nearly constant throughout the cyclone). Increasing the cyclone inlet dimensions decreases the pressure drop. The cyclone cut-off diameter increases with increasing cyclone inlet dimension (consequently, the cyclone overall efficiency decreases due to weakness of the vortex strength). The effect of changing the inlet width is more significant than the inlet height especially for the cut-off diameter. The optimum ratio of inlet width to inlet height b/a is from 0.5 to 0.7. 相似文献

Solving multi-objective problems requires the evaluation of two or more conflicting objective functions, which often demands a high amount of computational power. This demand increases rapidly when estimating values for objective functions of dynamic, stochastic problems, since a number of observations are needed for each evaluation set, of which there could be many. Computer simulation applications of real-world optimisations often suffer due to this phenomenon. Evolutionary algorithms are often applied to multi-objective problems. In this article, the cross-entropy method is proposed as an alternative, since it has been proven to converge quickly in the case of single-objective optimisation problems. We adapted the basic cross-entropy method for multi-objective optimisation and applied the proposed algorithm to known test problems. This was followed by an application to a dynamic, stochastic problem where a computer simulation model provides the objective function set. The results show that acceptable results can be obtained while doing relatively few evaluations. 相似文献
