Storage performance-metrics and benchmarks

The metrics and benchmarks used in storage performance evaluation are discussed. The technology trends taking place in storage systems, such as disk and tape evolution, disk arrays, and solid-state disks, are highlighted. The current popular I/O benchmarks are then described, reviewed, and run on three systems: a DECstation 5000/200 running the Sprite Operating System, a SPARCstation 1+ running SunOS, and an HP Series 700 (Model 730) running HP-UX. Two approaches to storage benchmarks-LADDIS and a self-scaling benchmark with predicted performance-are also described     

Gigabit-density magnetic recording

A tutorial on the principles of magnetic recording is given. The enormous rate of areal density increase for the past thirty years as well as the principal technological changes behind such sustained progress are outlined. The general issues involved in gigabit-density recording and the features that are common to both IBM'S and Hitachi's gigabit efforts are explored. The principal recording components, namely, the recording head and the medium, are considered, focusing on the problems encountered in designing, optimizing, and realizing them for gigabit-density applications. The performance of gigabit recording configurations from both IBM and Hitachi is reviewed. The performance limitations of these gigabit configurations and the prospects for further areal density extensions in magnetic recording are discussed     

Extended application of the complex source-point theory

In this paper, the complex source-point theory used for a symmetric concave spherical resonator is extended to an asymmetric concave spherical resonator. Thus, the formulae for the field distribution of the asymmetric spherical resonator can be easily deduced from the formulae for the field distribution of the symmetric resonator, thereby the application range of the complex source-point theory is enlarged and a convenient method is provided for the field analysis of an arbitrary spherical resonator.     

Analysis and simulation on the performance of a gyro-penitron amplifier

A cylindrical waveguide gyro-peniotron amplifier is analysed theoretically in this paper. By a ballistic method and directly using the energy conservation in the beam-wave system, a set of interaction equations for the cylindrical waveguide gyro-peniotron amplifier is derived. Computer simulation shows that under defined conditions an interaction efficiency of ? 47%, an output power of ? 240kW at a gain of ? 22. 5 dB and a 3 dB-instantaneous bandwidth of ? 1. 9% for a central frequency of 35GHz, TE₀₃ mode gyro-peniotron amplifier could be achieved. The influence of the operation parameters on the amplifier performance is also presented.     

Investigations on optically controlled millimeter wave Gunn oscillators

There is a growing interest in optically controlled millimeter wave oscillators. In this paper, we have investigated the external-circuit impedances of an optically controlled millimeter wave subharmonic Gunn diode oscillator, which is illuminated by GaAs/GaAlAs laser beam. The variation of the external-circuit impedances looking outward from the Gunn diode with respect to the optical injection plasma density are calculated based on a field analysis method. The results give some useful conclusions for optically controlled millimeter wave Gunn diode oscillator design. Experimentally an optical tuning frequency shift of 7MHz is achieved at W-band.     

碱土金属氟卤化物中的Eu3+的荧光光谱特征

本文系统研究了MFX体系中Eu³⁺荧光光谱特征,着重讨论了X^-,M²⁺及杂质缺陷(主要为O^2-)对Eu³⁺发光的影响.     

黑腔靶X光转换,输运的定量测量

为了测量黑腔靶X光引光效率、转换效率,我们设计了相应的分解靶(泄漏靶)实验,1989～1992年在″神光″装置上共进行了四次漏靶分解实验,利用灵敏度作了绝对标定的平响应X光二极管对漏靶注入孔、引光孔流出的X光角分布进行了测量,测出了x光角分布,得到了黑腔靶X光转换效率为50％～60％,引光效率约6％,为以后辐射驱动内爆研究的理论计算和靶的优化设计提供了重要的数据。
