Bin-oriented heuristics for one-dimensional bin-packing problem construct solutions by packing one bin at a time. Several such heuristics consider two or more subsets for each bin and pack the one with the largest total weight. These heuristics sometimes generate poor solutions, due to a tendency to use many small items early in the process. To address this problem, we propose a method of controlling the average weight of items packed by bin-oriented heuristics. Constructive heuristics and an improvement heuristic based on this approach are introduced. Additionally, reduction methods for bin-oriented heuristics are presented. The results of an extensive computational study show that: (1) controlling average weight significantly improves solutions and reduces computation time of bin-oriented heuristics; (2) reduction methods improve solutions and processing times of some bin-oriented heuristics; and (3) the new improvement heuristic outperforms all other known complex heuristics, in terms of both average solution quality and computation time.  相似文献

Electrolytes connect the two electrodes in a lithium battery by providing Li+ transport channels between them. Advanced electrolytes are being explored with high-nickel cathodes and the lithium-metal anode to meet the high energy density and cycle life goals, but the origin of the performance differences with different electrolytes is not fully understood. Here, the mechanisms involved in protecting the high-capacity, cobalt-free cathode LiNiO2 with a model high-voltage electrolyte (HVE) are delineated. The kinetic barrier posed by a thick surface degradation layer with poor Li+-ion transport is found to be the major contributor to the fast capacity fade of LiNiO2 with the conventional carbonate electrolyte. In contrast, HVE reduces the side reactions between the electrolyte and the electrodes, leading to a thinner nano-interphase layer comprised of more beneficial species. Crucially, the HVE leads to a different surface reorganization pathway involving the formation of a thinner nanoscale LiNi2O4 spinel phase on the LiNiO2 surface. With a high 3D Li+-ion and electronic conductivity, the spinel LiNi2O4 reorganization nanolayer preserves fast Li+ transport across the cathode–electrolyte interface, reduces reaction heterogeneity in the electrode and alleviates intergranular cracking within secondary particles, resulting in superior long-term cycle life.  相似文献

We report an extensive investigation of magnetic vortex lattice (VL) structures in single crystals of pure niobium with the magnetic field applied parallel to a fourfold symmetry axis, so as to induce frustration between the cubic crystal symmetry and hexagonal VL coordination expected in an isotropic situation. We observe new VL structures and phase transitions; all the VL phases observed (including those with an exactly square unit cell) spontaneously break some crystal symmetry. One phase even has the lowest possible symmetry of a two-dimensional Bravais lattice. This is quite unlike the situation in high-Tc or borocarbide superconductors, where VL structures orient along particular directions of high crystal symmetry. The purpose of this study was to identify the chemical components in root extracts of Saponaria cypria, an endemic species of Cyprus. Subsequently, the synergistic bioactivity of its root extracts through different extraction procedures was also investigated for the first time. A total of nine saponins, along with six phenolic compounds, were identified and quantified using the UHPLC/Q-TOF-MS method. Additionally, S. cypria root extracts demonstrated antibacterial potential against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis and Salmonella enteritidis. S. aureus presented the highest susceptibility among all bacteria tested. These findings provide the first phytochemical data regarding the saponin, phenolic content and antimicrobial activity of S. cypria extracts, indicating that the Cyprus saponaria species is a rich natural source for bioactive compounds with a potentially wider bioactivity spectrum.  相似文献

A new method has been developed to prevent sand reentrainment during oil production from unconsolidated or poorly consolidated reservoir formations. Consolidation of the zformation around the well is achieved through in situ precipitation of a sparingly soluble salt, namely, calcium phosphate. Control of the depth of salt formation is achieved by alternating injection, mixing, and reaction of two aqueous solutions of calcium chloride and potassium phosphate. Calcium phosphate crystals precipitate and grow on the grain surfaces, forming sufficiently uniform coatings. The formation of relatively uniform coatings on the grains causes an acceptably small decrease of the permeability, which is a feature of primary importance for oil production. The grains are gradually "cemented" with bridges of calcium phosphate crystallites and form a consolidated and still porous structure. As a result, the rate of hydrocarbon production for the problematic reservoir can be increased considerably without undesirable reentrainment of sand. The proposed method for consolidation has been successfully tested in sandbeds. Several series of experiments have been carried out under diverse conditions to establish the optimum parameter values for the implementation of this method. A set of optimum conditions at 25 degrees C were determined and these conditions gave satisfactory consolidation with permeability loss of ca. 60% of the initial value. The conditions of precipitation were chosen so that the precipitated phase was octacalcium phosphate [Ca(4)H(PO(4))(3).2.5H(2)O], along with its byproduct hydroxyapatite [Ca(5)(PO(4))(3)OH]. Experiments were also carried out at 70 degrees C and have shown that it is feasible to consolidate loose sandpacks at oil reservoir conditions. Copyright 2000 Academic Press.  相似文献
