When wireless sensors are used to keep an area under surveillance, a critical issue is the quality of the deployment from the sensing coverage viewpoint. In this paper, we propose several quality measures, which indicate if the deployment provides sufficient coverage, or whether redeployment is required or not. The terrain is modeled as a grid and the placement of the sensors is uniformly distributed. Neyman–Pearson detection is utilized to determine the effects of false-alarm and signal characteristics on the measures. 相似文献

Wireless Information Delivery Environment (WIDE) is a distributed data dissemination system, which uses IEEE 802.11b technology.
WIDE aims to deliver popular information services to registered mobile clients in WLAN hot spots. Data delivery is based on
broadcasting and multicasting to provide scalability and efficient use of the wireless channel. Reliability is assured with
a combination of Forward Error Correction (FEC), data carousel, and ARQ techniques. This paper presents the proposed system
architecture with the details of reliable and secure data dissemination mechanisms. Functional evaluation of the proposed
system and mechanisms on the implemented prototype are also included in this paper.

Sinan Isik received the B.S. degree in mathematics, and the M.S. degree in computer engineering from Bogazici University, Istanbul,
Turkey in 1999 and 2003, respectively. He is currently working toward for the PhD degree in computer engineering in the same
university. His research interests include wireless communication, wireless ad-hoc networks and wireless sensor networks.
Mehmet Yunus Donmez received his B.S. degree from Mathematics Department in 1999 and his MS degree from the Computer Engineering Department of
Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey in 2003. He is currently studying for his PhD degree in computer engineering. His research
interests are wireless networks and content delivery systems, along with QoS, multicasting and fairness issues in MANETs.
Cem Ersoy received his BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering from Bogazici University, Istanbul, in 1984 and 1986, respectively.
He worked as an R&D engineer in NETAS A.S. between 1984 and 1986. He received his PhD in electrical engineering from Polytechnic
University, Brooklyn, New York in 1992. Currently, he is a professor and department head in the Computer Engineering Department
of Bogazici University. His research interests include performance evaluation and topological design of communication networks,

The Chung–Smirnov law of the iterated logarithm and the Finkelstein functional law of the iterated logarithm for empirical processes are used to establish new results on the central limit theorem, the law of the iterated logarithm, and the strong law of large numbers for L-statistics with certain bounded and smooth weight functions. These results are used to obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for almost sure convergence and for convergence in distribution of some well-known L-statistics and U-statistics, including Gini's mean difference statistic. A similarity analysis was performed to investigate the laminar boundary-layer flow in the presence of a transverse magnetic
field over a down-pointing and spinning cone with mixed thermal boundary conditions. Boundary layer velocity and temperature
profiles were determined numerically for various values of the magnetic and spin parameters and the Prandtl number. The spin
of the cone compresses the velocity profiles towards the surface by inducing an upward flow and decreases the surface temperature.
The magnetic field suppresses the velocity profiles and increases the surface temperature. A transformation relating the similarity
solutions of the boundary-layer velocity and temperature profiles associated with different values of the mixed thermal boundary

Summary In an investigation of carotenoids present in the fruits ofAsparagus falcatus capsanthin (1), capsorubin (2), 5,6-diepikarpoxanthin (7), capsanthin 5,6-epoxide (18), capsochrome (17), mutatoxanthin (19),
antheraxanthin (11), and capsanthone (20) (Figure 1) have been isolated by preparative CLC and characterized by spectroscopic
methods. On the basis of spectroscopic data the absolute configuration of 5,6-diepikarpoxanthin (7) was determined as 3S,5S,6S, which is identical with that occurring in samples originating from paprika andLilium.

In this study, the temperature effects on the structural evolution of theZr70Pd30 binary alloy in the glassy and liquid states werestudied using the molecular dynamics simulations based on the many-body type tight-bindingpotential. We considered the following properties in detail: the temperature dependence ofthe volume, the partial and total pair distribution functions and the simulated glasstransition temperature. The effects of the cooling rates on the glass transitiontemperature were examined. The Wendt-Abraham parameter was calculated to determine theglass transition temperature of Zr70Pd30 glassy alloy. The pair analysis technique ofHoneycutt-Andersen was applied to define local atomic arrangements produced from moleculardynamics simulations. The results show that the icosahedral ordering in glassy state hasbeen composed during quenching period, and the simulated glass transition temperature andthe total pair distribution functions are in good agreement with the experimental data. 相似文献

Many studies suggest strong hydrophilicity of plasma treated polyester surfaces. However, no studies have been reported on
the influence of plasma on the antibacterial activity of polyethylene terephthalate. First samples were padded with triclosan
as antibacterial agent with different concentrations. Second samples were treated by oxygen plasma with different operating
frequency and treating time, respectively. Afterwards, plasma treated samples were padded with triclosan in same conditions.
The results revealed that the antibacterial activity slighlty increased after treating with triclosan. SEM images and FTIR
spectra showed that horizontal channels were brought about on the fiber surface and then better surface roughness and wettability
were obtained by plasma. Fibers were fully coated with triclosan after plasma and the antibacterial activity increased with
increasing operating frequency and reaction time. Finally, the samples treated with triclosan after plasma gave acceptable
results and showed the best antibacterial activity for Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. 相似文献

In this study, methylene blue (MB) imprinted microbeads were synthesized and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).Differential pulse voltammetric responses of carbon paste electrodes modified with MB imprinted polymer were used to evaluate the adsorption and selectivity features of the polymer. For selectivity studies two basic dyestuffs (thionine blue and toluidine blue) which have similar structure to MB were chosen. Comparison of the voltammetric responses obtained with pure carbon paste and carbon paste modified with either imprinted or nonimprinted polymer electrodes revealed that MB imprinted polymer presented a higher selectivity to the template molecule MB in contrast to structurally similar molecules, thionine blue and toluidine blue. 相似文献
