Controllable fabrication of carbon nanotube-polymer hybrid thin film for strain sensing

A strain sensing material based on carbon nanotubes-polymer hybrid film has been fabricated by the vacuum filtration and poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) molding transfer methods. The density and thickness of the film is tuned by simply controlling the volume of dilute suspension filtered through the membrane. These composites are resilient under large strain and there is a wide linear range of resistance-strain dependence. We demonstrate that the thin films with thicker CNTs networks exhibit more significant resistance-strain sensitivity under the same stain and the strain sensing material shows reproducible resistance-strain sensitivity depending only on the initial CNTs suspension volume. It may be possible to fabricate strain sensing material in large volume for future smart device applications.     

Synthesis and photoluminescent properties of silica-coated LaCeF<Subscript>3</Subscript>:Tb nanocrystals

La_0.45Ce_0.45F₃:Tb (10 mol% Tb) nanoparticles was synthesized via sonochemical method and then coated with silica (SiO₂) shells through a microemulsion process, resulting in the formation of core/shell structured LaCeF₃:Tb/SiO₂ nanoparticles. The obtained core/shell LaCeF₃:Tb/SiO₂ nanoparticles are spherical and uniform in size (average size about 60 nm), strongly fluorescent, and long fluorescence lifetime (1.87 ms). This kind of nanoparticles was water-soluble, which could be applied in biological labeling and other fields.     

Adaptive synchronization of weighted complex dynamical networks through pinning

This paper considers the problem of controlling weighted complex dynamical networks by applying adaptive control to a fraction of network nodes. We investigate the local and global synchronization of the controlled dynamical network through the construction of a master stability function and a Lyapunov function. Analytical results show that a certain number of nodes can be controlled by using adaptive pinning to ensure the synchronization of the entire network. We present numerical simulations to verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. In comparison with feedback pinning, the proposed pinning control scheme is robust when tested by noise, different weighting and coupling structures, and time delays.     

Scheme for implementing quantum dense coding with four-particle decoherence-free states in an ion trap

This paper proposes an experimentally feasible scheme for implementing quantum dense coding of trapped-ion system in decoherence-free states. As the phase changes due to time evolution of components with different eigenenergies of quantum superposition are completely frozen, quantum dense coding based on this model would be perfect. The scheme is insensitive to heating of vibrational mode and Bell states can be exactly distinguished via detecting the ionic state.

通过对ＬＧ５－Ｙ、ＬＧ４－Ｙ两种国产箔退火工艺的研究，重点分析了铝箔再结晶晶粒度对比容的影响，并确定了高比容下的晶粒大小范围。从而为铝箔的退火工艺参数的确定提供了又一重要依据。     

Electro-optic detection of femtosecond electromagnetic pulses by use of poled polymers

We report the generation and coherent detection of freely propagating ultrashort baseband electromagnetic pulses. Using optical rectification in ?110? GaAs for wideband emission and electro-optic sampling in a poled polymer for wideband detection, we demonstrate spectral sensitivity that extends from the far infrared (lambda~100 mum) to ~33 THz(lambda = 9 mum) . Over a band of nearly 20 THz, a relatively flat frequency response is observed. We discuss issues that limit the response bandwidth.     

Large enhancement of spontaneous emission rates of InAs quantum dots in GaAs microdisks

We have studied the enhancement of spontaneous emission rates for InAs quantum dots embedded in GaAs microdisks in a time-resolved photoluminescence experiment. Inhomogeneous broadening of the quantum dot energy levels and random spatial distribution of the quantum dots in a microdisk lead to a broad distribution of the spontaneous emission rates. Using a nonnegative least-norm algorithm, we extract the distribution of spontaneous emission rates from the temporal decay of emission intensity. The maximum spontaneous emission enhancement factor exceeds 10.
