Anomalous splitting in microwave mode-beating spectra of semiconductor ring lasers

Mode-beating spectra are investigated in long-perimeter (1.028 cm) monolithically integrated multiple-quantum-well semiconductor ring lasers. The beating line near 8 GHz is found to be split into two components. With increasing pumping current, a normal component shifts to lower frequencies, while an anomalous higher-frequency component shifts in the opposite direction. It is suggested the anomalous blue-shifting line results from power-induced perturbation of the refractive index in the vicinity of a strong mode.     

Network traffic prediction based on a new time series model

Fast and accurate methods for predicting traffic properties and trend are essential for dynamic network resource management and congestion control. With the aim of performing online and feasible prediction of network traffic, this paper proposes a novel time series model, named adaptive autoregressive (AAR). This model is built upon an adaptive memory‐shortening technique and an adaptive‐order selection method originally developed by this study. Compared to the conventional one‐step ahead prediction using traditional Box–Jenkins time series models (e.g. AR, MA, ARMA, ARIMA and ARFIMA), performance results obtained from actual Internet traffic traces have demonstrated that the proposed AAR model is able to support online prediction of dynamic network traffic with reasonable accuracy and relatively low computation complexity. Stability control of the electrooptic effect with new maleimide copolymers containing photoreactive tricyanopyrrolidene‐based chromophores

New photocrosslinkable maleimide copolymers have been synthesized by the attachment of a tricyanopyrrolidene‐based chromophore. The 2‐(3‐cyano‐4‐(2‐{4‐[hexyl‐(6‐hydroxy‐hexyl)‐amino]‐phenyl}‐vinyl)‐5‐oxo‐1‐{4‐[4‐(3‐oxo‐3‐phenyl‐propenyl)‐ phenoxy]‐butyl}‐1,5‐dihydro‐pyrrol‐2‐ylidene)‐malononitrile chromophore exhibits nonlinear optical activity and contains a chalcone moiety that is sensitive to UV light (λ = 330–360 nm) for crosslink formation. The maleimide monomers have also been functionalized with chalcone moieties. The resultant copolymers exhibit great processability, and one of them shows a maximum electrooptic coefficient of 90 pm/V at 1300 nm. We could control the thermal stability of the electrooptic coefficient with the newly synthesized photoreactive copolymers successfully. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 基于局部差别的形态学边缘检测方法研究

图像边缘特征是图像最基本也是最重要的特征之一.图像边缘特征的提取一直是计算机视觉和图像处理领域的经典研究课题,在精确制导武器的制导图预处理中有着广泛地应用.针对经典的边缘检测算子不能很好地提取噪声图像边缘这一问题,在数学形态学的基础上,提出了一种边缘提取方法.利用局部差别准则确定图像中受噪声影响的像素点,并对其进行形态学操作,滤除噪声,保存边缘.实验表明,该算法不仅具有很好的边缘提取能力,还具有很强的抗噪能力.说明了该算法的有效性和实用性.

The Level-split of the Two-level Entangled Atom in an Optical Field

The behavior of a two-level entangled atom in an optical field with circular polarization is studied in this paper. The interaction of an optical field and one of the entangled atoms is analyzed in detail. A general solution of the SchrAo¨Gdinger equation about the motion of the entangled atom is obtained. The properties of the action are dependent on the initial state of the atom. By detecting the entangled atom out of the field, we can obtain the state of the other atom moving in the field. It is shown that the state of the atom out of the field will influence the energies of the split-levels of the atom in the field.     

Facile preparation of new unsymmetrical curcumin derivatives by solid-phase synthesis strategy

Seventeen unsymmetrical curcumin derivatives were synthesized in good yield and purity by a facile solid phase synthesis strategy.
