Highly Efficient Orange and Green Solid‐State Light‐Emitting Electrochemical Cells Based on Cationic IrIII Complexes with Enhanced Steric Hindrance

Highly efficient orange and green emission from single‐layered solid‐state light‐emitting electrochemical cells based on cationic transition‐metal complexes [Ir(ppy)₂sb]PF₆ and [Ir(dFppy)₂sb]PF₆ (where ppy is 2‐phenylpyridine, dFppy is 2‐(2,4‐difluorophenyl)pyridine, and sb is 4,5‐diaza‐9,9′‐spirobifluorene) is reported. Photoluminescence measurements show highly retained quantum yields for [Ir(ppy)₂sb]PF₆ and [Ir(dFppy)₂ sb]PF₆ in neat films (compared with quantum yields of these complexes dispersed in m‐bis(N‐carbazolyl)benzene films). The spiroconfigured sb ligands effectively enhance the steric hindrance of the complexes and reduce the self‐quenching effect. The devices that use single‐layered neat films of [Ir(ppy)₂sb]PF₆ and [Ir(dFppy)₂sb]PF₆ achieve high peak external quantum efficiencies and power efficiencies of 7.1 % and 22.6 lm W^–1) at 2.5 V, and 7.1 % and 26.2 lm W^–1 at 2.8 V, respectively. These efficiencies are among the highest reported for solid‐state light‐emitting electrochemical cells, and indicate that cationic transition‐metal complexes containing ligands with good steric hindrance are excellent candidates for highly efficient solid‐state electrochemical cells.     

Hamiltonian N2‐locally connected claw‐free graphs

A graph G is N₂‐locally connected if for every vertex ν in G, the edges not incident with ν but having at least one end adjacent to ν in G induce a connected graph. In 1990, Ryjá?ek conjectured that every 3‐connected N₂‐locally connected claw‐free graph is Hamiltonian. This conjecture is proved in this note. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Interferometric monitoring of satellite longitudes

This paper proposes a technique for monitoring the longitudinal motion of geosynchronous satellites. A two‐antenna interferometer is used, with the baseline orientation adjusted to a particular horizontal azimuth. The interferometer then becomes insensitive to the north–south motion of the satellite, and this enables direct measurement of the satellite's longitudinal motion. Longitudes are monitored continuously, with no delay when orbital manoeuvres occur. The proposed technique is particularly useful when two or more satellites are operating in close proximity and their longitudes must be precisely monitored for safety control. Dielectric reliability of stacked Al2O3–HfO2 MIS capacitors with cylinder type for improving DRAM data retention characteristics

Dielectric reliability in Al₂O₃(2–3.1nm)–HfO₂(3nm) stack capacitor with Metal–Insulator–Si(MIS) structure is investigated in this paper. We propose an optimized capacitor process through the Time–Dependent Dielectric Breakdown (TDDB) data under various process conditions. Furthermore, due to asymmetric current at both negative and positive voltage stress polarities, we show different lifetime extrapolation by a fluence–driven model. As a result, the maximum allowed operating voltage is projected to be 1.7V (failure rate 10ppm during 10year @ 85°C) for Data “0” retention lifetime.     

2/spl times/4 optical add-drop module with no difference in propagation length

We developed a micromachined X-type 2/spl times/4 optical add-drop module (OADM) featuring no difference in propagation length. Four pairs of lensed fibers are aligned in "X" position, and four micromirrors are located between the pairs of optical fibers. The OADM was fabricated utilizing a silicon-on-insulator process. Electrostatic comb actuators can be driven up to 90 /spl mu/m to change the light path within 1 ms. The insertion loss and the on-off ratio were less than 3 and 70 dB, respectively. The loss uniformity in every channel was 1.5 dB.     

A lithium ethyl­ene­diphos­phon­ate containing lithium chains and symmetric hydrogen bonds

In the title compound, catena‐poly[lithium‐μ₃‐ethyl­ene­diphos­phon­ato], [Li(C₂H₇O₆P₂)]_n, the supra­molecular monoclinic (C2/c) structure consists of one‐dimensional lithium chains [Li⋯Li = 2.7036 (8) Å] that are embedded within ethyl­ene­diphosphon­ate anions linked by strong symmetric hydrogen bonds [O⋯O = 2.473 (3) Å]. The Li atoms and the H atom in the symmetric hydrogen bond reside on twofold rotation axes and there is an inversion center at the mid‐point of the C—C bond of the ethylenediphosphonate ligand.     

Elliptic equations with BMO coefficients in Reifenberg domains

The inhomogeneous Dirichlet problems concerning divergence form elliptic equations are studied. Optimal regularity requirements on the coefficients and domains for the W^1,p theory, 1 < p < ∞, are obtained. The principal coefficients are supposed to be in the John‐Nirenberg space with small BMO seminorms. The domain is a Reifenberg domain. These conditions for the W^1,p theory not only weaken the requirements on the coefficients but also lead to a more general geometric condition on the domains. In fact, these domains might have fractal dimensions. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
