Synthesis,characterization and antibacterial activity of some new pyrazole based Schiff bases

In the present study a series of new Schiff bases were synthesized. All the synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, ¹H NMR, mass spectral and elemental analyses. Newly synthesized compounds were screened for their antibacterial (Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) activity. The results revealed that, compounds 3f and 3c have exhibited significant biological activity against the tested microorganisms.     

Convenient Synthesis of Bicyclic Lactones Related to the Trichothecenes

Short and convenient synthesis of bicyclic lactones (1) and (2), important intermediates in trichothecene synthesis is described.     

Oxidation of Chromanones and 2-Spirochromanones with [Hydroxy(tosyloxy)iodo]benzene in Acetonitrile Under Reflux as well as Ultrasound: A Convenient Route for the Synthesis of Chromones,Tetrahydroxanthones, and Their Higher Homologues

Oxidation of chromanones (1a-i) and 2-spiro-chromanones (j-m) using [hydroxy(tosyloxy)iodo] benzene in refluxing acetonitrile as well as using ultrasound via dehydrogenation and 2,3-alkyl migration provides a convenient route for the synthesis of chromones (2a-i), tetrahydroxanthones (2j,k) and their higher homologues (21,m). The ultrasound also enhances substantially the rate of above transformations.     

Synthesis of New Benzoxazaphosphinine/Benzoxazaphosphole/Diazaphosphaphenalene‐2‐sulfides using Lawesson's Reagent

Synthesis of new benzoxazaphosphinine/benzoxazaphosphole/diazaphosphaphenalene 2‐sulfides were accomplished by the reaction of Lawesson's reagent (LR) with 4‐bromo‐2‐[(phenylamino) methyl]phenol (1a), 4‐bromo‐2‐[(4‐chloro/bromo/methoxy/methylphenyl‐amino)methyl]phenol (1b–e), 4‐bromo‐2‐[(benzylamino)methyl]phenol (1f), 2‐amino‐4‐chlorophenol (2a)/2‐amino‐4‐methylphenol (2b), 1,8‐diaminonaphthalene (3) respectively in anhydrous toluene. Products 4a–f, 5a–b and 6 were characterized by IR, ¹H, ¹³C, ³¹P NMR and Mass spectra.     

An Unusual Reaction of Dimethyl Sulfonium Methylide with Fhenyl Alkyl Ketones Having p-Electron Donating Substituents

A recent report by El Feraly et. al ³ describing the direct conversion of 5, 7-dimethoxy - 2, 3 - dihydro - 1H-benzcyclopenten- 1 -one(1) to the homologated aldehyde (3) by dimethyl sulfonium 4 methylide⁴ (2), prompted us to present results obtained from our investigation of the reaction of various aromatic aldehydes and ketones, possessing electron releasing p-substituent, with (2). Our interest in examining this particular reaction arose from a need to prepare the oxirane (5) and the aldehyde (6), required in connection with the synthesis and biological evaluation of semi-rigid analogues of catecholamines as probes for the study 5 of adrenergic and dopaminergic receptors.⁵     

Sequential 1,3-Dipolar Cycloadditions in the Synthesis of Novel Tri-spiro Cyclohexanones and Piperidin-4-ones

The sequential 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions of azomethine ylide and nitrile oxide to a series of 2,6-bis[(E)-arylmethylidene]cyclohexanones and 1-methyl-3,5-bis[(E)-arylmethylidene]tetrahydro-4(1H)-pyridinones afforded novel tri-spiro heterocycles comprising isoxazoline, pyrrolidine and acenaphthylen-1(2H)-one rings in good yields and stereoselectivity.     

A Facile One‐Pot Synthesis of Pyrrolo[1, 2‐a] Indoles by Intramolecular 1,3‐Dipolar Cycloaddition under Neat‐Microwave Irradiation

A straightforward and general approach for the stereoselective synthesis of fused pyrrolo[1,2‐a] indoles frameworks from>intramolecular 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition using N‐alkylated Baylis–Hillman derivatives is presented. It was found that the cycloaddition proceeded efficiently under microwave irradiation in solvent‐free condition to afford highly stereoselective cycloadducts in good yield.     

Synthesis of 2,2′‐Bi‐2H‐3,3′‐diaryl‐1,4‐benzothiazines from α,α‐Dibromoacetophenones and o‐Aminothiophenol

Some 2,2′‐bi‐2H‐3,3′‐diaryl‐1,4‐benzothiazines (5a–f) were synthesized from α,α‐dibromoacetophenones and o‐aminothiophenol.     

Heteropoly Acids as Heterogeneous and Reusable Catalyst for α-Thiocyanation of Ketones

Simple, efficient, and mild method for α-thiocyanation of ketones in presence of heteropolyacid has been developed. This methodology offered α-oxothiocyanates in good to excellent yields at room temperature in a highly selective manner. The catalyst could be efficiently recovered from the reaction and reused.     

Bromamine-B/PdCl2 is an Efficient System for the Synthesis of Anthranilic Acids from Indoles and Indigos

A convenient method has been developed for the conversion of indoles and indigos into anthranilic acids in good to excellent yields using a bromamine-B/PdCl₂ system. The general process utilizes our efficient method for the oxidation of indoles and indigos in alkaline (pH 12) acetonitrile/water (1:1) at 60 °C.
