In vivo imaging of intrinsic optical signals in chicken retina with functional optical coherence tomography

Visually evoked intrinsic optical signals (IOSs) were measured in vivo for the first time to our knowledge from all retina layers of the chicken retina with a combined functional optical coherence tomography and electroretinography (ERG) system. IOS traces were recorded from a small volume in the retina with 3.5 μm axial resolution and 7 ms time resolution. Comparison of the IOS and ERG traces shows a correlation between the positive and negative IOS measured from different retinal layers and the timing of the a and b waves in the ERG recording.     

A note on isometries of Lipschitz spaces

The main purpose of this article is to generalize a recent result about isometries of Lipschitz spaces. Botelho, Fleming and Jamison [2] described surjective linear isometries between vector-valued Lipschitz spaces under certain conditions. In this article, we extend the main result of [2] by removing the quasi-sub-reflexivity condition from Banach spaces.     

Rapid production of monodisperse cross-linked red blood corpuscle-like particles via scalable one-pot dispersion polymerization

Cross-linked polystyrene (PS) particles having red blood corpuscle (RBC)-like shape were synthesized by one-pot dispersion polymerization of styrene with ethanol/water mixture and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as the reaction medium and cross-linker, respectively. Monitoring of the reaction showed that RBC-like shape forms due to asymmetric shrinkage of a cross-linked network during the phase separation. In addition, three dimensional phase diagram was generated based on the yielded data that showed that the formation of such unique shape extremely depends on the polarity of the medium and injection time of the cross-linker. In situ synthesis of RBC-like particles, as promising biomaterials in targeted drug delivery and a model for the understanding of the cell behavior, via such fast and high solid content approach makes it to be conducive to subsequent scale up, i.e. potential commercial adoption.     

Dynamics of Relativistic Solitons Due to Pseudo Sine-Gordon Equation

This paper is a review of some of the most important concepts and phenomena for relativistic solitons. The Sine-Gordon equation and the pseudo Sine-Gordon equations are studied in this context. A final discussion is conducted in the for soliton in more than one spatial dimensions.

Toward a practical and waste-free synthesis of thioureas in water

An operationally simple and entirely green protocol for the synthesis of thiourea derivatives by the reaction of carbon disulfide with primary amines in pure water is developed. This reaction is a highly atom-economic process for production of highly pure, hindered thioureas without any catalyst and tedious work-up.     

Scission of Carbon Monoxide Using TaR3, R=(N(tBu)Ph) or OSi(tBu)3: A DFT Investigation

The experimentally known reduction of carbon monoxide using a 3‐coordinate [Ta(silox)₃] (silox=OSi(tBu)₃) complex initially forms a ketenylidene [(silox)₃Ta? CCO], followed by a dicarbide [(silox)₃Ta? CC? Ta(silox)₃] structure. The mechanism for this intricate reaction has finally been revealed by using density functional theory, and importantly a likely structure for the previously unknown intermediate [(silox)₃Ta? CO]₂ has been identified. The analysis of the reaction pathway and the numerous intermediates has also uncovered an interesting pattern that results in CO cleavage, that being scission from a structure of the general form [(silox)₃Ta? C_nO] in which n is even. When n is odd, cleavage cannot occur. The mechanism has been extended to consider the effect of altering both the metal species and the ligand environment. Specifically, we predict that introducing electron‐rich metals to the right of Ta in the periodic table to create mixed‐metal dinuclear intermediates shows great promise, as does the ligand environment of the Cummins‐style 3‐coordinate amide structure. This latter environment has the added complexity of improved electron donation from amide rotation that can significantly increase the reaction exothermicity.     

Fractional Nambu Mechanics

The fractional generalization of Nambu mechanics is constructed by using the differential forms and exterior derivatives of fractional orders.
