Two series of 5-trichloromethylisoxazoles were synthesized from the cyclocondensation of 1,1,1-trichloro-4-methoxy-3-alken-2-ones [Cl3CC(O)C(R2) = C(R1)OMe, where R1 = H, Me, Et, Pr, iso-Pr, cyclo-Pr, Bu, terc-Bu, CH2Br, CHBr2, CH(Me)SMe, (CH2)2Ph, and Ph, and R2 = H; R1 = H and R2 = Me and Et; R1 and R2 = -(CH2)4- and -(CH2)5-; and R1 = Et and Ph and R2 = Me] with hydroxylamine hydrochloride through a rapid one-pot reaction in water. The 5-trichloromethyl-4,5-dihydroisoxazoles were aromatized by reaction with concentrated sulfuric acid to obtain the respective 5-trichloromethylisoxazoles. Their structures were confirmed by elemental analysis, 1H/13C nuclear magnetic resonance, and electron impact mass spectroscopy. Crystal structure analysis for 5-triclhoromethyl-5-hydroxy-3-propyl-4,5-dihydroisoxazole (2d) and 5-trichloromethyl-5-hydroxy-3,4-hexamethylene-4,5-dihydroisoxazole (2o) is presented. The antimicrobial activities of the 5-trichloromethyl-4,5-dihydroisoxazole derivatives were examined using the standard twofold dilution method against Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus), Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa), and yeasts (Candida spp. and Cryptococcus neoformans). All of the tested 5-trichloromethyldihydroisoxazoles exhibited antibacterial and antifungal activities at the tested concentrations. Supplemental materials are available for this article. Many natural and artificial two-states signaling devices are connected forming networks. The information-processing potential of these systems is usually related to the response to weak external signals. Here, using a network of overdamped bistable elements, we study the effect of a heterogeneous complex topology on the signal response. The analysis of the problem in random scale-free networks, reveals that heterogeneity plays a crucial role in amplifying external signals. The understanding of emergent collective phenomena in natural and social systems has driven the interest of scientists from different disciplines during decades. Among these phenomena, the synchronization of a set of interacting individuals or units has been intensively studied because of its ubiquity in the natural world. In this Letter, we show how for fixed coupling strengths local patterns of synchronization emerge differently in homogeneous and heterogeneous complex networks, driving the process towards a certain global synchronization degree following different paths. The dependence of the dynamics on the coupling strength and on the topology is unveiled. This study provides a new perspective and tools to understand this emerging phenomena. 相似文献

Remote detection nuclear magnetic resonance and magnetic resonance imaging can be used to study fluid flow and dispersion in a porous medium from a purely Eulerian point of view (i.e., in a laboratory frame of reference). Information about fluid displacement is obtained on a macroscopic scale in a long-time regime, while local velocity distributions are averaged out. It is shown how these experiments can be described using the common flow propagator formalism and how experimental data can be analyzed to obtain effective porosity, flow velocity inside the porous medium, fluid dispersion and flow tracing of fluid. 相似文献

In this work, the deoxygenation of organic liquid products (OLP) obtained through the thermal catalytic cracking of palm oil at 450 °C, 1.0 atmosphere, with 10% (wt.) Na2CO3 as a catalyst, in multistage countercurrent absorber columns using supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) as a solvent, with an Aspen-HYSYS process simulator, was systematically investigated. In a previous study, the thermodynamic data basis and EOS modeling necessary to simulate the deoxygenation of OLP was presented. This work addresses a new flowsheet, consisting of 03 absorber columns, 10 expansions valves, 10 flash drums, 08 heat exchanges, 01 pressure pump, and 02 make-ups of CO2, aiming to improve the deacidification of OLP. The simulation was performed at 333 K, 140 bar, and (S/F) = 17; 350 K, 140 bar, and (S/F) = 38; 333 K, 140 bar, and (S/F) = 25. The simulation shows that 81.49% of OLP could be recovered and that the concentrations of hydrocarbons in the extracts of absorber-01 and absorber-02 were 96.95 and 92.78% (wt.) on a solvent-free basis, while the bottom stream of absorber-03 was enriched in oxygenated compounds with concentrations of up to 32.66% (wt.) on a solvent-free basis, showing that the organic liquid products (OLP) were deacidified and SC-CO2 was able to deacidify the OLP and obtain fractions with lower olefin contents. Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a lethal malignant tumor accounting for 42% of the tumors of the central nervous system, the median survival being 15 months. At present, no curative treatment is available for GBM and new drugs and therapeutic protocols are urgently needed. In this context, combined therapy appears to be a very interesting approach. The isothiocyanate sulforaphane (SFN) has been previously shown to induce apoptosis and inhibit the growth and invasion of GBM cells. On the other hand, the microRNA miR-15b is involved in invasiveness and proliferation in GBM and its inhibition is associated with the induction of apoptosis. On the basis of these observations, the objective of the present study was to determine whether a combined treatment using SFN and a peptide nucleic acid interfering with miR-15b-5p (PNA-a15b) might be proposed for increasing the pro-apoptotic effects of the single agents. To verify this hypothesis, we have treated GMB U251 cells with SFN alone, PNA-a15b alone or their combination. The cell viability, apoptosis and combination index were, respectively, analyzed by calcein staining, annexin-V and caspase-3/7 assays, and RT-qPCR for genes involved in apoptosis. The efficacy of the PNA-a15b determined the miR-15b-5p content analyzed by RT-qPCR. The results obtained indicate that SFN and PNA-a15b synergistically act in inducing the apoptosis of U251 cells. Therefore, the PNA-a15b might be proposed in a “combo-therapy” associated with SFN. Overall, this study suggests the feasibility of using combined treatments based on PNAs targeting miRNA involved in GBM and nutraceuticals able to stimulate apoptosis. 相似文献

There are many multi-stage optimization problems that are not easily solved through any known direct method when the stages are coupled. For instance, the problem of planning a vehicle's control sequence to negotiate obstacles and reach a goal in minimum time is investigated. The vehicle has a known mass, and the controlling forces have finite limits. A genetic programming technique is developed that finds admissible control trajectories that tend to minimize the vehicle's transit time through the obstacle field. The immediate application is that of a space robot that must rapidly traverse around two or three dimensional structures via application of a rotating thruster or non-rotating on-off thrusters. (An air-bearing floor test-bed for such vehicles is located at the Marshal Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.) It appears that the developed method is applicable to a general set of optimization problems in which the cost function and the multi-dimensional multi-state system can be any non-linear functions that are continuous in the operating regions. Other applications include: the planning of optimal navigation pathways through a traversability graph, the planning of control input for underwater maneuvering vehicles which have complex control state-space relationships, the planning of control sequences for milling and manufacturing robots, the planning of control and trajectories for automated delivery vehicles, and the optimization of control for racing vehicles and athletic training in slalom sports. 相似文献

We study the existence of strange nonchaotic attractors (SNA) in the family of Harper maps. We prove that for a set of parameters of positive measure, the map possesses a SNA. We quantify the error statistics and patterning effects in a 5 × 40 Gbit/s WDM RZ-OOK SMF/DCF fibre link using hybrid Raman/EDFA amplification. By extensive use of a numerical model, we determine how the error statistics change with the transmission distance. This knowledge is used as a basis for a constrained coding technique in order to improve the transmission error rate. We propose an adaptive constrained code for mitigation of the patterning effects and demonstrate that this approach can substantially reduce the bit error rate (BER) even for very large values of the channel BER (BER > 10− 1). The proposed technique can be used in combination with forward error correction schemes (FEC) to extend the range of channel BERs that an FEC scheme is effective over. 相似文献
