Rather than depending on material composition to primarily dictate performance metrics, metamaterials can leverage geometry to achieve specific properties of interest. For example, reconfigurable metamaterials have enabled programmable shape transformations, tunable mechanical properties, and energy absorption. While several methods exist to fabricate such structures, they often place severe restrictions on manufacturing materials, or require significant manual assembly. Moreover, these arrays are typically composed of unit cells that are either macro-scale or micro-scale in dimension. Here, the fabrication gap is bridged, and laminate manufacturing is used to develop a method for designing reconfigurable metamaterials at the millimeter-scale, that is compatible with a wide range of materials, and that requires minimal manual assembly. In addition to showing the versatility of this fabrication method, how the use of laminate manufacturing affects the behavior of these multi-component arrays is also characterized. To this end, a numerical model that captures the deformations exhibited by the structures is developed, and an analytic model that predicts the strain of the structure under compressive stress is built. Overall, this approach can be leveraged to develop millimeter-scale metamaterials for applications that require reconfigurable materials, such as in the design of tunable acoustics, photonic waveguides, and electromagnetic devices.  相似文献

2D and layered electronic materials characterized by a kagome lattice, whose valence band structure includes two Dirac bands and one flat band, can host a wide range of tunable topological and strongly correlated electronic phases. While strong electron correlations have been observed in inorganic kagome crystals, they remain elusive in organic systems, which benefit from versatile synthesis protocols via molecular self-assembly and metal-ligand coordination. Here, direct experimental evidence of local magnetic moments resulting from strong electron–electron Coulomb interactions in a 2D metal–organic framework (MOF) is reported. The latter consists of di-cyano-anthracene (DCA) molecules arranged in a kagome structure via coordination with copper (Cu) atoms on a silver surface [Ag(111)]. Temperature-dependent scanning tunneling spectroscopy reveals magnetic moments spatially confined to DCA and Cu sites of the MOF, and Kondo screened by the Ag(111) conduction electrons. By density functional theory and mean-field Hubbard modeling, it is shown that these magnetic moments are the direct consequence of strong Coulomb interactions between electrons within the kagome MOF. The findings pave the way for nanoelectronics and spintronics technologies based on controllable correlated electron phases in 2D organic materials.  相似文献

Monitoring of pesticides and veterinary drug residues is required to enforce legislation and guarantee food safety. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) is the prevailing technique for assessing both types of residues because LC offers a versatile and universal separation mechanism suitable for non-gas chromatography (GC) amenable and the majority of GC-amenable compounds. This characteristic becomes more relevant when LC is coupled to MS because the high sensitivity and specificity of the detector allows to apply generic sample preparation procedures, which simultaneously extract a wide variety of residues with different physico-chemical properties. Determination of metabolites and degradation products, non-target suspected screening of an increasing number of residues, and even unknowns identification are also becoming inherent LC-MS advantages thanks to the latest advances. For routine analysis and, in particular, for official surveillance purposes in food control, analytical methods properly validated following strict guidelines are needed. After a brief introduction and an outline of the legislation applicable around the world, aspects such as improvement of specificity of high-throughput methods, resolution and mass accuracy of identification strategies and quantitative accuracy are critically reviewed in this article. In them, extraction, separation and determination are emphasized. The main objective is to offer an assessment of the state of the art and identify research needs and future trends in determining pesticide and veterinary drug residues in food by LC-MS.  相似文献

The prognosis of patients with advanced non small cell lung (NSCLC) cancer remains dismal. Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor is over-expressed in many epithelial derived tumors and its role in the development and progression of NSCLC is widely documented. CimaVax-EGF is a therapeutic cancer vaccine composed by human recombinant Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) conjugated to a carrier protein, P64K from Neisseria Meningitides. The vaccine is intended to induce antibodies against self EGF that would block EGF-EGFR interaction. CimaVax-EGF has been evaluated so far in more than 1000 advanced NSCLC patients, as second line therapy. Two separate studies were compared to assess the impact of high dose vaccination at multiple anatomic sites in terms of immunogenicity, safety and preliminary efficacy in stage IIIb/IV NSCLC patients. In both clinical trials, patients started vaccination 1 month after finishing first line chemotherapy. Vaccination at 4 sites with 2.4 mg of EGF (high dose) was very safe. The most frequent adverse events were grade 1 or 2 injection site reactions, fever, headache and vomiting. Patients had a trend toward higher antibody response. The percent of very good responders significantly augmented and there was a faster decrease of circulating EGF. All vaccinated patients and those classified as good responders immunized with high dose at 4 sites, had a large tendency to improved survival.  相似文献

A particular property of the matched desired impulse response receiver is introduced, namely, the fact that full exploitation of the diversity is obtained with multiple beamformers when the channel is spatially and timely dispersive. This particularity makes the receiver specially suitable for mobile and underwater communications. The new structure provides better performance than conventional and weighted VRAKE receivers, and a diversity gain with no need for additional radio frequency equipment. The baseband hardware needed for this new receiver may be obtained through reconfigurability of the RAKE architectures available at the base station. The proposed receiver is tested through simulations assuming UTRA frequency-division-duplexing mode.  相似文献

The adsorption behavior of viologen alpha,omega-dithiols (viologen dithiols) on gold has been investigated. At short exposures, a low-coverage phase consisting of flat-lying molecules has been determined by STM and IR spectroscopy. In contrast, multilayer films are formed after long adsorption times. Single molecular wires could be formed between a gold STM tip and a surface with a low coverage of the adsorbed dithiols, and their electrical behavior was investigated. Molecular conductivity was determined either by the repeated measurement of I(s) curves or by recording I-V curves for different tip-sample separations. These methods concurred in producing a value of (0.5 +/- 0.1) nS for the single-molecule conductivity of the alpha,omega-viologen dithiol molecule HS-6V6-SH. The high conductivity of HS-6V6-SH, as compared to that of HS-C12-SH, may be related to the low-lying LUMO, which provides a barrier indentation for electron transport in a two-step electron-transfer mechanism.  相似文献

[NEt(4)](2)[Re(CO)(3)Br(3)] reacts with 2-acetylpyridine phenylthiosemicarbazone (HL(1)) and 2-pyridine formamide thiosemicarbazone (HL(2)) under formation of air-stable, neutral rhenium(I) complexes of the compositions [Re(CO)(3)(L(1)-N,N,S)] and [Re(CO)(3)Br(HL(2)-N,N)]. Spectroscopic studies and X-ray crystallography show that the potentially tridentate thiosemicarbazones adopt unusual coordination modes. Whereas HL(1) deprotonates and binds to the metal in a nonplanar fashion, HL(2) acts as neutral N,N donor ligand. The bond lengths inside the chelate rings are almost uninfluenced by the overall bonding situation.  相似文献
