A series of cationic Ir(III) substituted bipyridyl ()(N(∧)N (N(∧)N-bpy) complexes incorporating electron-donor and -acceptor substituents, [Ir(C(∧)N-ppy-R')(2)(N(∧)N-bpy-CH═CH-C(6)H(4)-R)][X] (X(-) = PF(6)(-) or C(12)H(25)SO(3)(-)), 2 (a, R = NEt(2) and R' = Me; b, R = O-Oct and R' = Me; c, R = NO(2) and R' = C(6)H(13); C(∧)N-ppy = cyclometalated 2-phenylpyridine, [Ir(C(∧)N-ppy-Me)(2)(N(∧)N-bpy-CH═CH-thienyl-Me)][PF(6)], 2d, and the dithienylethene (DTE)-containing complex 2e have been synthesized and characterized, and their absorption, luminescence, and quadratic nonlinear optical (NLO) properties are reported. Density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent-DFT (TD-DFT) calculations on the complexes facilitate a detailed assignment of the excited states involved in the absorption and emission processes. All five complexes are luminescent in a rigid glass at 77 K, displaying vibronically structured spectra with long lifetimes (14-90 μs), attributed to triplet states localized on the styryl-appended bipyridines. The second-order NLO properties of 2a-d and related complexes 1a-d with 1,10-phenanthrolines have been investigated by both electric field induced second harmonic generation (EFISH) and harmonic light scattering (HLS) techniques. They are characterized by high negative EFISH μβ values which decrease when the ion pair strength between the cation and the counterion (PF(6)(-), C(12)H(25)SO(3)(-)) increases. The EFISH response is mainly controlled by metal-to-ligand charge-transfer/ligand-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT/L'LCT) processes. A combination of HLS and EFISH techniques is used to evaluate both the dipolar and octupolar contributions to the total quadratic hyperpolarizability, demonstrating that the major contribution is controlled by the octupolar part. The incorporation of a photochromic DTE unit into the N(∧)N-bpy ligand (complex 2e) allows the luminescence to be switched ON or OFF. The photocyclisation of the DTE unit can be triggered by using either UV (365 nm) or visible light (430 nm), leading to an efficient quenching of the ligand-based 77 K luminescence, which can be restored upon irradiation of the closed form at 715 nm. In contrast, no significant modification of the EFISH μβ value is observed upon photocyclization, suggesting that the quadratic NLO response is dominated by the MLCT/L'LCT processes, rather than by the intraligand excited states localized on the substituted bipyridine ligand.  相似文献

A series of selenium derivatives (6-12) of 2-phenylazophenyl have been synthesized using o-lithiation route. The effect of the strength of the intramolecular Se···N interaction on the absorption spectra as well as emission spectra has been studied. The studies suggest that the secondary bonding Se···N interaction give rise to fluorescence, however, the strength of Se···N interaction cannot be directly correlated with the intensity of the fluorescence. TD-DFT calculations show that the main transition involved in the absorption spectra of the compound is the ligand based π-π* type.  相似文献

Summary Acetylacetone bis-benzoylhydrazone (PhCONHN=CMe)2 CH2(LH2) and acetylacetone bis-isonicotinoylhydrazone (NC5H4CONHN=CMe)2CH2(LH2) complexes of the types [ML] and [ML] (M = CoII, NiII, CuII or ZnII) have been prepared and characterized. All the complexes are non-electrolytes and the cobalt(II) complexes are lowspin, the nickel(II) complexes are diamagnetic and the copper(II) complexes are paramagnetic. The ligands chelate via two C=N groups and two deprotonated enolate groups. The e.s.r. spectra of the copper(II) complexes indicate a tetragonally distorted dimeric structure. The X-ray diffraction parameters for [CoL] and [NiL] correspond to a tetragonal crystal lattice.  相似文献

Background

Accidental autoclaving of L-glutamine was found to facilitate the Agrobacterium infection of a non host plant like tea in an earlier study. In the present communication, we elucidate the structural changes in L-glutamine due to autoclaving and also confirm the role of heat transformed L-glutamine in Agrobacterium mediated genetic transformation of host/non host plants.

Results

When autoclaved at 121°C and 15 psi for 20 or 40 min, L-glutamine was structurally modified into 5-oxo proline and 3-amino glutarimide (α-amino glutarimide), respectively. Of the two autoclaved products, only α-amino glutarimide facilitated Agrobacterium infection of a number of resistant to susceptible plants. However, the compound did not have any vir gene inducing property.

Conclusions

We report a one pot autoclave process for the synthesis of 5-oxo proline and α-amino glutarimide from L-glutamine. Xenobiotic detoxifying property of α-amino glutarimide is also proposed.  相似文献

The essential oil of Eucalyptus cinerea is reported to possess a higher 1,8-cineole content than other Eucalyptus species. Variations in the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of E. cinerea oil produced by hydrodistillation (HD) and supercritical carbon dioxide extraction (SCE) techniques and a comparison between glycoside-bound and free volatile constituents produced by HD have been studied. It was found that HD produced higher oil (free volatiles) content (3.1%) as compared with SCE (1.1%), whereas bound volatiles constituted only about 0.4%. Gas chromatographic (GC) analysis of the oil samples revealed significant difference in their chemical composition. The essential oil (free volatiles) produced by HD contained 1,8-cineole (85.1%) as the major constituent, followed by a-terpineol (7.2%) and limonene (4.4%). In the bound volatile fraction produced by HD, 1,8 cineole (20.6%), alpha-terpineol (7.6%), p-cymene (6.3%), and limonene (4.5%) were found as major constituents. The extract produced by SCE was dominated by 1,8-cineole (70.4%), a-terpineol (8.6%), globulol (3.1%), aromadendrene (2%), citronellal (1.7%), viridiflorol (1.3%), phytol (1.1%) and terpinen-4-ol (1%). Although HD produced higher oil yields, SCE produced better extract in terms of the number of components detected.  相似文献

To understand the chemistry of Cu(II)–NH3–S(IV)–O2 system, the kinetics of the oxidation of sulfur(IV) catalyzed by amminecopper(II) complexes has been studied in the ammonia‐buffered solutions. Sulfur(IV) is oxidized to sulfate. The complexes, Cu(NH3)2+, Cu(NH3)22+, and Cu(NH3)2+3 appear to be equally reactive and Cu(NH3)42+ appears to be unreactive. The kinetics obey the rate law: where α1 and γ1 are the rate constants for O2‐dependent and O2‐independent pathways, respectively, for Cu(NH3)2+, Cu(NH3)2+2, and Cu(N H3)32+ complexes, which appear to be equally reactive. The values of α1 and γ1 were found to be (1.32 ± 0.21) × 106 L2 mol?2 s?1 (1.74 ± 0.40) × 109 L3 mol?3 s?1respectively at 30°C. The reaction rate is not influenced by the presence of ethanol—a free radical scavenger, so a nonradical mechanism has been proposed. The results of this study are useful in understanding the atmospheric chemistry of aqueous phase autoxidation of dissolved sulfur dioxide in copper(II)–ammonia–sulfur(IV)–oxygen system at high pH. © 2011 Wiley Peiodicals, Inc. The reactions of p‐nitrophenyl acetate (PNPA) with a series of monopyridinium oximes, viz. 2‐PAM (2‐hydroxyiminomethyl‐1‐methylpyridinium iodide), 3‐PAM (3‐hydroxyiminomethyl‐1‐methylpyridinium iodide), and 4‐PAM (4‐hydroxyiminomethyl‐1‐methylpyridinium iodide) have been studied in the presence of cationic surfactants of same hydrophobic chain length (C16) within the concentration range of 0.5–6.0 mM at pH 8.0 under the pseudo‐first‐order condition. The observed rate constant (kobs) increases with increasing surfactant concentration culminating into a maximum, and this has been analyzed in detail following the concepts of micellar catalysis. The structure–activity relationship of the investigated oximes has been discussed, and 2‐PAM was found to be the most reactive among all the three investigated oximes for the cleavage of PNPA. Esterolytic decomposition of p‐nitrophenyldiphenyl phosphate with oximate ions (? CH?NO?) was followed in cetyltrimethylammonium bromide micelles at pH 9.0, and 4‐PAM was the most reactive oxime for the micellar hydrolysis of phosphate ester. Bicyclams inhibit HIV replication by binding to the CXCR4 chemokine receptor, which is the main coreceptor for gp120 used by X4, T‐tropic strains of HIV for membrane fusion and cell entry. Bicyclam AMD3100 mainly interacts with the aspartic acid residues namely Asp171 and Asp262, which are located at the extracellular ends in the CXCR4 coreceptor. Incorporation of some metal ions by the macrocyclic rings of bicyclam enhances its binding affinity to the CXCR4 receptor and enhances their anti‐HIV activity because the acetate can make a strong coordination bond to the metal and one weaker hydrogen bond to nitrogen in the cyclam ring. The interaction energy (Eint) between 150 metal–bicyclam complexes and aspartic acid has been evaluated. The metal–bicyclam complexes are obtained by the incorporation of six metal ions namely Fe3+, Co3+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, and Pd2+ in 25 well‐known bicyclams including AMD3100. In most of the cases, Fe and Co–bicyclam complexes interact best with aspartic acid. The anti‐HIV activity of metal–bicyclam complexes can be predicted on the basis of interaction energy before the synthesis of the metal–bicyclam complex.
