The effect of simultaneous substitution of a fluctuating cation and a divalent cation in LaMnO3 perovskite modifies the properties of the material to exhibit large valence colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) effect. A good example of these properties is (La1−2x Pr x Ca x )MnO3 (LPCMO) type CMR material. In this communication it is reported that, with the increase in x (for x=0.1, 0.15, 0.2), the T c varies between 100 and 120 K with improvisation in metal-insulator transition. Interestingly, resistance increases with x from few hundred ohms to few kilo ohms with corresponding decrease in the unit cell volume. The results of the studies using X-ray diffraction (XRD), electrical resistivity, magnetoresistance and ac susceptibility measurements on LPCMO samples for understanding the structural, transport and magnetic properties are discussed in detail.  相似文献

The vibrational spectrum of the Si-free katoite hydrogarnet (116 atoms in the unit cell) has been calculated at the periodic ab initio quantum mechanical level with the CRYSTAL program, by using a Gaussian type basis set and the hybrid B3LYP Hamiltonian. The harmonic frequencies at the Gamma point have been obtained by diagonalizing the mass-weighted Hessian matrix, that is evaluated by numerical differentiation of the analytical first derivatives of the energy with respect to the atomic Cartesian coordinates. The parameters controlling the numerical differentiation, as well as the numerical integration of the exchange-correlation functional for the self-consistent field (SCF) calculation, are shown to affect the obtained frequencies by less than 3 cm-1. Before diagonalization, the dynamical matrix is transformed to a block diagonal form according to the irreducible representations of the point group, so that the 345 vibrational modes are automatically classified by symmetry. Various tools are adopted (graphical representation, isotopic substitution, "freezing" part of the unit cell) that permit a complete classification of normal modes and, in particular, an analysis of the modes in terms of simple models (octahedra modes, Ca modes, H stretching, bending, rotations). The harmonic OH stretching band (48 modes) is quite narrow (20 cm-1), indicating that the interaction among OH groups is very weak. As the OH stretching modes are known to be totally separable from the other modes and strongly anharmonic, the one-dimensional Schroedinger equation for the anharmonic oscillator is solved numerically for the two extreme situations, corresponding to the vibration of one decoupled OH and of all 48 OH groups moving in phase. The anharmonic frequencies are 3682 and 3673 cm-1, respectively, in good agreement with IR experiments (a single band at 3661 cm-1 with a width at half band height of 33 cm-1) and confirming that the interaction between OH groups is extremely weak.  相似文献

The constrained space orbital variation (CSOV) method for the analysis of the interaction energy has been implemented in the periodic ab initio CRYSTAL03 code. The method allows for the partition of the energy of two interacting chemical entities, represented in turn by periodic models, into contributions which account for electrostatic effects, mutual polarization and charge transfer. The implementation permits one to carry out the analysis both at the Hartree-Fock and density functional theory levels, where in the latter the most popular exchange-correlation functionals can be used. As an illustrating example, the analysis of the interaction between CO and the MgO (001) surface has been considered. As expected by the almost fully ionic character of the support, our periodic CSOV results, in general agree with those previously obtained using the embedded cluster approach, showing the reliability of the present implementation.  相似文献

The equilibrium geometry, the Raman and IR vibrational spectra at the Γ point, TO–LO splitting, IR intensities, Born and dielectric tensors of magnesite MgCO3, dolomite MgCa(CO3)2 and calcite CaCO3 have been calculated with the periodic ab initio program CRYSTAL, by using an all-electron gaussian type basis set and the B3LYP hamiltonian. LO (longitudinal-optical) modes are computed by correcting the dynamical matrix through Born charges and high frequency dielectric tensors obtained from well localized Wannier functions and a saw-tooth computational scheme. The mean absolute difference between calculated and experimental frequencies (IR TO and LO and RAMAN) is as small as 6.9 cm−1 for magnesite, 7.7 cm−1 for dolomite and 8.5 cm−1 for calcite. Calculated IR intensities are in semiquantitative agreement with experiment. The modes of the three compounds are compared through graphical animation available on the CRYSTAL web-site.  相似文献

The electrophoretic mobility behavior of well-characterized polystyrene latex particles, carrying one type of surface functional endgroups, has been studied as a function of pH. At low pH, the interaction of protons with the functional endgroups increased in the order: Hydroxyl > carboxyl > sulfate; at high pH the order of interaction was reversed; and at intermediate pH no interactions were observed. The particles of the polystyrene latexes in their different forms at the intermediate pH range, dispersed in deionized water, all exhibited the same mobility irrespective of the functional endgroup. The origin of charge in these systems is explained as being the result of either the preferential adsorption of hydroxyl ions or an electron - injection mechanism due to the overlap of local intrinsic molecular - ion states in polystyrene and water. At low concentrations of functional endgroups, the surface properties of the polystyrene latexes are largely dependent upon the hydrophobic nature of the surface.  相似文献

Pure silica ITW zeolite can be synthesized using 1,2,3-trimethylimidazolium and 1,3-dimethylimidazolium cations and fluoride anions as structure-directing agents (SDAs). Similarly to the previously reported 1,3,4-trimethylimidazolium, the dimethyl cation can also produce the zeolite TON, but this higher framework density phase finally transforms in situ into ITW. The structures of the as-made and calcined phases prepared with the new cations show a unit cell doubling along z, and the refined structures are reported. Periodic Density Functional Theory calculations provide the energies of the six SDA-ITW and SDA-TON zeolites, and their relative stabilities fully agree with the experimental observations. Structure-direction in this system is discussed from experimental and theoretical results that give strong support to the idea that strained silica frameworks are made possible in fluoride media by decreasing the covalent character of the Si-O bond. This decreased covalency is enhanced with the 1,2,3-trimethyl isomer, which is shown to be the strongest SDA for ITW and, at the same time, is the more hydrophilic of the three SDAs tested. Our observations with the three SDAs agree with the so-called Villaescusa's rule, i.e., the low framework density phase is favored at higher concentrations, but at the same time question the supersaturation hypothesis that has been proposed to explain this rule, since here the low-density phase is the most stable one.  相似文献

Background  

The hematopoietic Granulocyte-Colony Stimulating Factor (G-CSF) plays a crucial role in controlling the number of neutrophil progenitor cells. Its function is mediated via the G-CSF receptor, which was recently found to be expressed also in the central nervous system. In addition, G-CSF provided neuroprotection in models of neuronal cell death.
