Sharp condition of global existence for second-order derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations in two space dimensions

This paper discusses a class of second-order derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations which are used to describe the upper-hybrid oscillation propagation. By establishing a variational problem, applying the potential well argument and the concavity method, we prove that there exists a sharp condition for global existence and blow-up of the solutions to the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. In addition, we also answer the question: how small are the initial data, the global solutions exist?     

A Liouville type theorem for polyharmonic elliptic systems

In this paper, we consider the polyharmonic system m(−Δ)U=Vq,m(−Δ)V=Up in RN, for m>1, N>2m, with p?1, q?1, but not both equal to 1, where m(−Δ) is the polyharmonic operator. Set α=2m(q+1)/(pq−1), β=2m(p+1)/(pq−1), for α,β∈[(N−2)/2,N−2m), we prove the nonexistence of positive solutions.     

Theoretical analysis of thermal effects in fiber laser from the moment when pump is turned on to steady-state

A theoretical analysis of the pump-induced temperature change and associated thermal phase shift occurring in a fiber laser is presented. The temperature rise and thermal phase shift from the moment when pump is turned on to steady-state in fiber lasers, such as Yb-doped fiber laser, are numerical calculated.With the same parameters, the numerical solution is in good agreement with the finite-element (ANSYS software) simulation.     

Fabrication of bamboo-shaped GaN nanorods

Bamboo-shaped GaN nanorods were formed through a simple sublimation method. They were characterized by means of X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and selected-area electron diffraction (SAED). The TEM image showed that the nanorods were bamboo-like. XRD, HRTEM and SAED patterns indicated that the nanorods were single-crystal wurtzite GaN. 枸橼酸铋制剂中铋元素的溶出量分析

微波消解溶样，ICP—AES法测定了枸橼酸铋制剂中铋元素的含量及其在人工胃液和人工肠液中的溶出量。结果表明，枸橼酸铋制剂中的铋元素在人工肠液中的溶出量明显高于人工胃液。方法的检出限为12ng／mL，相对标准偏差(n=7)为3．84％。     

A New Pathway to Synthesize Cyclomercurated Ferrocenylimines Containing Heterocyclic Ring

The cyclomercurated ferrocenylimines containing heterocyclic ring were prepared by the condensation of cyclomercuration of acylferrocene with the appropriate heterocyclic amine.This procedure provides an efficient method for the synthesis of cyclomerucurated ferrocenylimines containing heterocyclic ring which are difficultly synthesized by the conventional method.The reaction mechanism is proposed.     

Asymptotic distributions of nonparametric regression estimators for longitudinal or functional data

The estimation of a regression function by kernel method for longitudinal or functional data is considered. In the context of longitudinal data analysis, a random function typically represents a subject that is often observed at a small number of time points, while in the studies of functional data the random realization is usually measured on a dense grid. However, essentially the same methods can be applied to both sampling plans, as well as in a number of settings lying between them. In this paper general results are derived for the asymptotic distributions of real-valued functions with arguments which are functionals formed by weighted averages of longitudinal or functional data. Asymptotic distributions for the estimators of the mean and covariance functions obtained from noisy observations with the presence of within-subject correlation are studied. These asymptotic normality results are comparable to those standard rates obtained from independent data, which is illustrated in a simulation study. Besides, this paper discusses the conditions associated with sampling plans, which are required for the validity of local properties of kernel-based estimators for longitudinal or functional data.     

Optimizing the optical field distribution of solid immersion lens system by a continuous phase filter

In solid immersion lens (SIL) microscopy systems with high numerical aperture (NA), there always exists the aberration produced by Fresnel effects at the interface between SIL and the sample. This aberration may cause the degradation of the image of sample. We design a continuous phase filter and optimize the optical field distribution of SIL system. The numerical results show that when the continuous phase filter is used, the field distribution of SIL system can be optimized, and the focal depth and intensity of transmitted light can be increased. At the same time, the intensity of side-lobe and the resolution are kept almost unchanged.     

Photoacoustic spectroscopy for fast and sensitive ammonia detection

A photoacoustic (PA) spectrometer with H-type first longitudinal resonant cells for ammonia detection is developed. A new PA cell structure is designed to accelerate the drift velocity of the sample gas near the cell surface, so that the short response time at the flow rate of 100 sccm (standard cubic centimeter per minute) is achieved. The response time of 5 min and detection limit of 0.86 ppbv is reached for ammonia concentration measurement with a Teflon polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) cell. Further improvement could be expected when using a brass cell with a high quality Teflon fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) coating.
