The synthesis of ephedrine (dialkyl phosphorothioate)s has been effected. The method of their preparation and their properties are described. Reaction of 1,4-diazines with indoles in the presence of acylating agents

2,3-Diindolyl-1,4-diacyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrazines and 2,3-diindolyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoxalines with acyl residues attached to one or both nitrogen heteroatoms were obtained by the reaction of pyrazines and quinoxalines with indole and 1-methyl- and 2-methylindoles in the presence of acyl chlorides or acetic anhydride. Fluorescent aggregates of cation-anionic polymethine dyes with simple structures

The absorption, fluorescence, and excitation spectra of two cation-anionic dyes with simple structures, which have the identical anions and variable cations, were studied in weakly polar and nonpolar solvents as well as in binary mixtures of solvents with different polarity. Under these conditions heterogeneous fluorescent aggregates were found at 20 °C. The structure of the cation has a significant influence on the formation and properties of the aggregates of cation-anionic polymethine dyes.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Thermal decomposition of dinuclear complexes LM(μ-OOCR)<Subscript>4</Subscript>ML (L is α-substituted pyridine)

The solid-state thermal decomposition of the dinuclear pivalate complexes LM(μ-OOCR)₄ML, both those synthesized earlier (M = Mn^II, Fe^II, or Co^II; L = 2,6-(NH₂)₂C₅H₃N)) and new complexes (M = Cu^II; L = 2,6-(NH₂)₂C₅H₃N or (2-NH₂)(6-CH₃)C₅H₃N), was studied by differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry. The decomposition of the Co^II complexes is accompanied by the aggregation to form the volatile octanuclear complex Co₈(μ₄-O)₂(μ_n-OOCCMe₃)₁₂ (n = 2 or 3), whereas the thermolysis of the Mn^II, Fe^II, and Cu^II complexes is destructive, the phase composition of the decomposition products being substantially dependent on the nature of metal and the α substituent R in the apical organic ligand.

A potentiometric sensor for the determination of diclofenac

A diclofenacselective electrode with a plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) membrane containing an ion associate of diclofenac with Astrafloxin FF as an electrode-active substance was developed. The linearity range of the electrode function varied from 5 × 10^?5 to 5 × 10^?2 M; the slope of the electrode function was 59.0 ± 1.2 mV/pc, and the working pH range was 9–12. The effectiveness of the use of this electrode for monitoring diclofenac in pharmaceutical preparations was demonstrated.     

Isolation,purification, and enzymatic activity of cellulase components of the fungus <Emphasis Type="Italic">Aspergillus terreus</Emphasis>

The accumulation dynamics of cellulolytic enzymes in culture media of the basidiomycete fungi Panus tigrinus, Pleurotus ostreatus, Fomes fomentarus, and the micromycete Aspergillus terreus were studied during a long incubation period. It was found that A. terreus was the most active producer of cellulolytic enzymes among the studied fungi. Two protein fractions with cellulase activity were isolated using gel filtration and ion-exchange chromatography. X-ray diffraction characteristics of new chromitomanganites LaM 3 I CrMnO6 and LaM 3 II CrMnO7.5 (MI = Li, Na; MII = Mg, Ca)

LaM ₃ ^I CrMnO₆ (M^I = Li, Na) and LaM ₃ ^II CrMnO_7.5 (M^II = Mg, Ca) chromitomanganites were synthesized by ceramic technology from lanthanum oxide, chromium(III) oxide, manganese(III) oxide, lithium carbonate, sodium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, and calcium carbonate. X-ray powder diffraction shows that these compounds crystallize in cubic or tetragonal systems with the following unit cell parameters: for LaLi₃CrMnO₆ (cubic): a = 10.98 Å, V ^○ = 1323.75 ų, Z = 8, V _u.c ^○ = 165.47ų, ρ_X = 3.64, ρ_pycn= 3.60 ± 0.04 g/cm³; for LaNa₃CrMnO₆ (tetragonal): a = 10.96 Å, c = 15.73 Å, V ^○ = 1889.51 ų, Z = 16, V _u.c ^○ = 118.09 ų, ρ_X = 5.77 g/cm³, ρ_pycn = 5.70 ± 0.07 g/cm³; LaMg₃CrMnO_7.5 (cubic), a = 10.98 Å, V ^○ = 1322.31 ų, Z = 8, V _u.c ^○ = 165.29 ų, ρ_X = 4.41 g/cm³, ρ_pycn = 4.35 ± 0.07 g/cm³; and for LaCa₃CrMnO_7.5 (cubic): a = 10.97 Å, V ^○ = 1319.78 ų, Z = 8, V _u.c ^pO = 164.97 ų, ρ_X = 4.89 g/cm³, ρ_pycn = 4.85 ± 0.05 g/cm³.     

Phase formation in the Dy2O3-HfO2-MoO3 system. Crystal structure of the new binary molybdate Dy2Hf2(MoO4)7

Phase relations have been studied for the subsolidus region of the Dy₂O₃-HfO₂-MoO₃ system; binary molybdates, Dy₂Hf(MoO₄)₅ and Dy₂Hf₂(MoO₄)₇, were found to form. The crystal structure of the latter has been solved (a = 20.661(3) , b = 9.816(1) , c = 13.796(3) , = 113.47(1)°, Z = 4, space group C2/c, R = 0.023) and found to be a new type of structure. In the structure, MoO₄ tetrahedra are linked by their vertices with HfO₆ octahedra and DyO₈ tetragonal antiprisms to form a 3D open-work, in which one can isolate double-row tetrahedral and octahedral chains extended down the c axis.Original Russian Text Copyright © 2004 by S.
