Simulation of electron bunch generation by an ultrashort-pulse high-intensity laser-driven wakefield

Electron acceleration due to a wakefield excited by a ultrashort-pulse intense laser propagating through a finite-length underdense plasma layer is studied by two-dimensional particle-in-cell simulation. The electron energy distribution is analyzed for moderate to high intensity. For the electron density, where the pulse length is almost half of the plasma wavelength, dramatic changes of the density structure occur with cavity and bunch formation with an increase in the laser intensity, also leading to the appearance of a fast electron component well confined in phase space. The analytical form of the fast electron energy spectrum is also presented.

Electrophoretic study of the effect of ultradisperse iron powder on cotton seed proteins

The protein composition of seeds treated with a suspension of ultradisperse iron was studied using electrophoresis on PAAG. Specific features of the chemical behavior and structure of copper(II) trimethylacetate complexes with 3,5-dimethylpyrazole have been considered based on X-ray crystallographic data.     

A Study of Drop Size Distribution in Multistage Bubble Extractor

Results obtained in determining experimentally the mean volume-surface drop diameter of the dispersed phase in a multistage bubble extractor are presented.     

Protonation and Alkylation of Cross-conjugated Ketones Containing a Terminal N-Methylpyrrole Ring

The protonation and alkylation of cross-conjugated ketones containing a terminal N-methylpyrrole ring takes place at the oxygen atom. Protonation is accompanied by a strong bathochromic shift of the absorption maximum in the electron spectrum, while alkylation leads to ethoxypolymethine salts. The possibility of using these salts for the synthesis of ethoxycyanine dyes was studied.     

Reactions of 2,2-disubstituted 1,1-dicyanoethenes with β-dimethylaminoacrolein aminal and 3-dimethylamino-1,1,3-trimethoxypropane

A reaction of 2,2-disubstituted 1,1-dicyanoethenes with β-dimethylaminoacrolein aminal and 3-dimethylamino-1,1,3-trimethoxypropane leads to substituted 6,6-dicyano-1-dimethyl-aminohexatrienes and an organic salt containing 1,1,9,9-tetracyano-2,8-diphenylnona-2,4,6,8-tetraenide as the anion and (dimethylaminopropenylidene)dimethylammonium as the cation, on the basis of which new cation-anionic polymethine dyes were obtained. Morphology and spectral properties of thin films of benzoxazole derivatives of biphenyl

We have studied the spectral properties and morphology of thin films (TVD films) formed by thermal vacuum deposition of 4,4′-bis[(E)-1-(1,3-benzoxazol-2-yl)-2-ethenyl]-1,1′-biphenyl and its substituted derivatives. We have shown that introducing bulky 2,2′-oxyhexyl substituents into the biphenyl units leads to a shift of the fluorescence maximum for the TVD films toward shorter wavelengths, a decrease in their photostability, and aggregation of the films during storage. __________ Translated from Zhurnal Prikladnoi Spektroskopii, Vol. 74, No. 3, pp. 300–303, May–June, 2007.     

Lysine-containing calcium hydroxylapatite: Synthesis and physicochemical characterization

The CaCl₂-(NH₄)₂HPO₄-NH₂(CH₂)₄NH₂CHCOOH-NH₃-H₂O system at 25°C is studied using Tananaev’s solubility (residual concentrations) method and pH measurements. Lysine-containing calcium hydroxylapatite Ca₁₀(PO₄)₆(OH)_1.9[NH₂(CH₂)₄NH₂CHCOO]_0.1 · 6H₂O is identified using chemical analysis, thermogravimetry, powder X-ray diffraction, and IR spectroscopy.     

Thermochemistry of potassium morpholinodithiocarbamate

Results of thermochemical studies of a new compound, potassium morpholinodithiocarbamate, are presented. The enthalpies of its solution in water at various dilutions and the specific heat at 173–348 K were examined by the experimental methods of isothermal and dynamic calorimetry.
