Kinetic approach on the DIA wave propagation in a non-extensive distributed dusty plasma

The Landau damping of the dust ion-acoustic wave (DIAW) in a dusty plasma with non-extensive distributed components is analysed relying on the kinetic approach. The electron, ion, and dust particles are effectively modelled by the non-extensive distribution function of the Tsallis statistics. For a collisionless plasma with different values of plasma components indices, the general dispersion relation is achieved, and the non-extensivity effects on the frequency, as well as the Landau damping of the DIAW, are studied. We show that for , the preliminary results of the Maxwellian plasma are obtained. The decrease of wave damping is achieved by increasing the coefficient q index and the ion-to-electron density ratio. The damping rate also increases with an increasing ion-to-electron temperature ratio.     

Variation in minerals, phenolics and antioxidant activity of peel and pulp of different varieties of peach (Prunus persica L.) fruit from Pakistan

Peach (Prunus persica L.), being a potential source of bioactive compounds, has been demonstrated to have medicinal benefits. In this study variation of minerals and antioxidant characteristics (total phenolic contents, total flavonoid contents, reducing power, inhibition of peroxidation using linoleic acid system and DPPH free radical scavenging activity) between peel and pulp parts of different peach varieties, namely Golden, Shireen, and Shahpasand were investigated. The peel and pulp extracts, derived from the varieties analyzed, exhibited an appreciable amount of total phenolics (TP) and total flavonoids (TF), ranging from 1,209.3-1,354.5, 711.7-881.3 mg GAE/100 g and 599.7-785.5, 301.3-499.7 mg CE/100 g on a dry weight basis, respectively. Reducing power of peel and pulp extracts (12.5 mg/mL concentration) ranged from 2.57-2.77 and 1.54-1.99.The inhibition of linoleic acid peroxidation and DPPH scavenging activity of the extracts varied from 70.8-80.9% and 66.8-76.5% in peels, and 51.9-60.1% and 43.4-49.1% in pulps. The mineral analysis revealed that the content of K was highest in both parts of the peach fruit followed by Mg, Ca, Fe, Mn and Zn. The results of our present study indicate that peach peel had significantly higher levels of minerals, antioxidant capacity and phenolics than those of the pulp, suggesting the intake of unpeeled peach as a potential source of high-value components. The peach peel can be a useful as a viable source of natural antioxidants for functional foods and nutraceutical applications.     

Cobalt(Ⅱ) chloride accelerated one-pot three-component synthesis of α-aminophosphonates at room temperature

A simple,efficient,and general method has been developed for the one-pot,three-component synthesis ofα-aminophosphonates from condensation reaction of trimethyl phosphite,aryl aldehydes and aryl amines in the presence of CoCl₂-6H₂O under solvent-free conditions.Thusα-aminophosphonates were synthesized relatively quickly in good yields at room temperature.     

Sodium Dihydrogen Phosphate as an Efficient Catalyst for One-Pot,Three-Component Synthesis of α-Aminophosphonates Under Solvent-Free Conditions at Room Temperature

A simple, efficient, and general method has been developed for the one-pot, three-component synthesis of α-aminophosphonates from a condensation reaction of trimethyl phosphite, aldehydes, and amines in the presence of sodium dihydrogen phosphate under solvent-free conditions. Thus, α-aminophosphonates were synthesized relatively quickly in good yields at room temperature.     

A cytogenetic register of down syndrome in Lebanon

OBJECTIVES: To provide data on the cytogenetics and epidemiology of Down syndrome in our community. METHODS: All cases of Down syndrome diagnosed cytogenetically were entered over a period of 5 years together with data regarding age at referral, parental ages and parity. RESULTS: A total of 280 cases were entered. In postnatal cases, the mean maternal age was 32.19 years and 41.5% of mothers were over 35 years. Only 47.3% of Down syndrome children were diagnosed at less than 1 month of age. The male to female sex ratio of 1.66 is significantly more elevated than that reported in larger registers. CONCLUSIONS: Because of problems inherent to Lebanon, this register does not have a high level of ascertainment, however it appears that the emphasis in a potential prevention programme should be placed on education, information and family planning.     

Nucleons from skyrmions with vector mesons

We use a chirally gauged non-linear σ-model with minimal breaking to describe spin 0 and spin 1 mesons. Contrary to current claims, we argue that this model is similar in nature with the recently proposed models based on concepts of a hidden local symmetry. We show that classically the model exhibits stable hedgehog baryons and this without resorting to Skyrme's fourth order term. All the parameters of the model are fixed by the meson masses and coupling constants. The bulk properties of the nucleon andΔ-isobar are found to be in good agreement with the experimental results.
