Pot and time economies in the total synthesis of Corey lactone

The Corey lactone is a highly versatile intermediate for the synthesis of a variety of prostaglandin hormones that natively control a multitude of important physiological processes. Starting from commercially available compounds, we herein disclose a time-economical, one-pot enantioselective preparation of the Corey lactone by virtue of a new diphenylprolinol silyl ether-mediated domino Michael/Michael reaction to afford the substituted cyclopentanone core in a formal (3 + 2) cycloadditive fashion. More broadly, this work advances the on-demand, gram-scale synthesis of high-value targets involving chemically orthogonal transformations, whereby distinct reactions of acids, bases, organometalics, reductants and oxidants can be carried out in a single reaction vessel in a sequential fashion.

The Corey lactone was synthesized by one-pot within 152 minutes from comercially available compounds using organocatalyst.     

Aggregation and catalytic activity of 2-hydroxybenzylated polyethyleneimines in water-organic solutions

The aggregation of 2-hydroxybenzylated derivatives of polyethyleneimine in a water—DMF medium in the absence and in the presence of cationic surfactants was studied. The catalytic activity of modified polyethyleneimines in hydrolysis of phosphorus acid esters depends on the pH of the medium and increases with the formation of polymer-colloidal complexes. The polymer-colloidal complexes based on surfactants with two hydroxyethyl substituents in the head group have the maximum catalytic activity (increase in the reaction rate by up to three orders of magnitude).     

Preparation of 6-chloropyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine-5-carbaldehydes by Vilsmeier-Haack reaction and its use in the synthesis of heterocyclic chalcones and dipyrazolopyridines

Novel 6-chloropyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine-5-carbaldehydes 5 have been synthesized from the 4,5-dihydropyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine-6-ones 4 via Vilsmeier-Haack reaction. Further treatment of carbaldehydes 5 with acetophenones 6 and hydrazine hydrate afforded chalcone analogues 7 and dipyrazolo[3,4-b:4′,3′-e]pyridines 8, respectively.     

Absolute configuration of the amino acids of actinoidin

Conclusions It has been established that the p-hydroxyphenylglycine and 3-chloro-4-hydroxyphenylglycine contained in actinoidin possess the D-configuration.Khimiya Prirodnykh Soedinenii, Vol. 5, No. 1, pp. 43–46, 1969
