We present the first observation of spatiospectral control and localization of supercontinuum light through the nonlinear interaction of spectral components in extended periodic structures. We use an array of optical waveguides in a LiNbO3 crystal and employ the interplay between diffraction and nonlinearity to dynamically control the output spectrum of the supercontinuum radiation. This effect presents an efficient scheme for optically tunable spectral filtering of supercontinua. 相似文献

Concentration dependence of nonlinear refractive index n2 in fibers heavily doped with GeO2 is studied by using the D-scan method. Good agreement with an empirical dependence established earlier with lower GeO2 concentrations by the cw dual-frequency beat signal technique is shown for GeO2 concentrations up to approximately 100 mol.%. The highest values of the nonlinear coefficient gamma at 1.25 microm of 47.9, 57.7, and 70.9 W(-1) km(-1) were obtained in fibers doped with 67, 75, and 97 mol.% GeO2, respectively. 相似文献

The effect of adhesion between matrix and filler on mechanical properties of composites is analyzed. It is shown, that the loss of adhesion (extension of exfoliated surface) leads to a marked reduction of uniaxial tension modulus. Regularities of interphase crack growth were found and dependences of initial (critical) and final angles of exfoliation upon mechanical and scale factors were obtained. 相似文献

Perfluoro-2-methyl-2-pentene-thiocyanate-3 reacts with ammonia to give 2,4-diaminoperfluoro-4-methyl-2-pentenethiocyanate-3 ( 4 ) and 2-aminoperfluoro-4, 4-dimethyl-4,5-dihydro-5-ethylidene-1,3-thiazole ( 5 ). Compound 4 is kinetically stable and at 150°C under-goes rotational isomerization to afford the cyclic isomer 2-amino-4,4-bis(trifluoromethyl)-4,5-dihydro-5-(1-aminoperfluoroethylidene) -1,3-thiazole ( 6 ). Intramolecular cyclizations, resulting in the thiazolines 5 and 6 , proceed likewise via the Thorpe reaction. For compounds 4–6 , X-ray diffraction analyses were undertaken and IR spectra in solution and in solid state were investigated. We obtain a general result for the Lamb shift of excited states of multilevel atoms in inhomogeneous electromagnetic structures and apply it to study atomic hydrogen in inverse-opal photonic crystals. We find that the photonic-crystal environment can lead to very large values of the Lamb shift, as compared to the case of vacuum. We also suggest that the position-dependent Lamb shift should extend from a single level to a miniband for an assembly of atoms with random distribution in space, similar to the velocity-dependent Doppler effect in atomic/molecular gases. 相似文献

Artificially fabricated structures with periodically modulated parameters such as photonic crystals offer novel ways of controlling the flow of light due to the existence of a range of forbidden frequencies associated with a photonic band gap. It is believed that modulation of the refractive index in all three spatial dimensions is required to open a complete band gap and prevent the propagation of electromagnetic waves in all directions. Here we reveal that, in sharp contrast to what was known before and contrary to the accepted physical intuition, a one-dimensional periodic structure containing the layers of transparent left-handed (or negative-index) metamaterial can trap light in three-dimensional space due to the existence of a complete band gap. 相似文献

We study self-collimation and beam splitting in low-refractive-index photonic crystals created within chalcogenide glass. We propose a beam splitter structure that allows direct experimental verification of photonic-crystal effects at optical wavelengths in a straightforward and definitive manner. Certain mechanical properties of a phenol — formaldehyde resin of the novolac type cured with hexa methylenetetramine in the presence of PCB have been investigated. The curves representing the dependence of the flexural strength, impact strength, and hardness of the specimens on PCB concentration are extremal in character.
