The steady-shear viscosity, dynamic viscoelasticity, and sedimentation behavior were measured for silica suspensions dispersed in aqueous solutions of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO). For suspensions prepared with polymer solutions in which the transient network is developed by entanglements, the viscosity at a given shear rate decreases, shows a minimum, and then increases with increasing particle concentration. Because the suspensions are sterically stabilized under the conditions where the particle surfaces are fully covered with by a thick layer of adsorbed polymer, the viscosity decrease can be attributed to the reduction of network density in solution. But under the low coverage conditions, the particles are flocculated by bridging and this leads to a viscosity increase with shear-thinning profiles. The polymer chains with high molecular weights form flexible bridges between particles. The stress-dependent curve of storage modulus measured by a stress amplitude sweep shows an increase prior to a drastic drop due to structural breakdown. The increase in elastic responses may arise from the restoring forces of extended bridges with high deformability. The effect of PEO on the rheological behavior of silica suspensions can be explained by a combination of concentration reduction of polymer in solution and flocculation by bridging.  相似文献

We have developed efficient electrocatalysts for methanol oxidation using new synthetic method facilitating deposition of Pt–Ru very thin nanoplatelets on carbon nanoparticles The method involves oxidation of carbon support, adsorption of Pb2+, its reduction and galvanic displacement of Pb0 by Pt and/or Ru. The Pt mass activity of this catalyst is about 10 times higher than that of the commercial Pt–Ru/C. The catalyst with the 1:1 Pt/Ru ratio displayed the highest methanol oxidation activity per surface Pt atom. Our results demonstrate the new synthetic method that yields the catalyst with potential for solving the problem of high Pt loading in direct methanol fuel cell anodes.  相似文献

Nano-sized magnetic Y3Fe5O12 ferrite having a high heat generation ability in an AC magnetic field was prepared by bead milling. A commercial powder sample (non-milled sample) of ca. 2.9 μm in particle size did not show any temperature enhancement in the AC magnetic field. The heat generation ability in the AC magnetic field improved with a decrease in the average crystallite size for the bead-milled Y3Fe5O12 ferrites. The highest heat ability in the AC magnetic field was for the fine Y3Fe5O12 powder with a 15-nm crystallite size (the samples were milled for 4 h using 0.1 mm? beads). The heat generation ability of the excessively milled Y3Fe5O12 samples decreased. The main reason for the high heat generation property of the milled samples was ascribed to an increase in the Néel relaxation of the superparamagnetic material. The heat generation ability was not influenced by the concentration of the ferrite powder. For the samples milled for 4 h using 0.1 mm? beads, the heat generation ability (W g−1) was estimated using a 3.58×10−4 fH2 frequency (f/kHz) and the magnetic field (H/kA m−1), which is the highest reported value of superparamagnetic materials.  相似文献

A chromoionophore-derived calix[4]crown, 1 , possessing an effective signal-controllable function by metal ionic inputs has been newly synthesized, whose function is mainly of our interest, by transforming the process of receptor activation to one that may be detected by an optical signal (i.e. color change), the basic feature of antagonist-agonist competition may be reproduced readily and visually detected. The process would be particularly new within the field of optical read-out receptors. Further, from the standpoint of material sciences, the controllable signal function may not only be welcome for molecular information processing, but also contribute to the design of new sensory materials.  相似文献

Reactions involving phenol derivatives and acyl chlorides have to be controlled for competitive O-acylations and C-acylations (Friedel-Crafts acylations and Fries rearrangements) in acidic condition. The extent for these reactions in trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (TfOH), which is used as catalyst and solvent, is examined. Although diluted TfOH was needed for effective O-acylation, concentrated TfOH was required for effective C-acylations in mild condition. These results have been applied to the novel synthesis of homotyrosine derivatives. Both Fries rearrangement of N-TFA-Asp(OBn)-OMe and Friedel-Crafts acylation of phenol with N-TFA-Asp(Cl)-OMe in TfOH afforded the homotyrosine skeleton, followed by reduction and deprotection afforded homotyrosines maintaining stereochemistry of Asp as an optically pure form.  相似文献

A convenient method for the stereoselective construction of angular methyl group of fuzed cyclic ethers is described. Reactions of mixed thioacetals with Me2Zn/Zn(OTf)2 afforded the corresponding methylated products in good yields. Various protective groups such as MOM ether, benzylidene acetal, TBS ether, and pivaloyl group were stable under the reaction conditions.  相似文献

Palladium nanoparticles stabilized by a polyion complex composed of poly{4-chloromethylstyrene-co-(4-vinylbenzyl) tributylammonium chloride} and poly(acrylic acid) were easily recovered by filtration after pH treatment. The polyion complex stabilized palladium nanoparticles have high catalytic activity for the Suzuki and Heck reactions in water.  相似文献
