We have performed a set of first-principles simulations to consider the possible phase transitions in molecular crystals of HCN under high pressure. Our calculations reveal several transition paths from the orthorhombic phase to tetragonal and then to triclinic phases. The transitions from the orthorhombic to the tetragonal phases are of the second order, whereas those from the tetragonal to the triclinic phases turn out to be of the first-order type and characterized by an abrupt decrease in volume. Our calculations show that, by adjustment of the temperature and pressure of the HCN molecular crystal, novel layered and polymeric crystals with insulating, semiconducting or metallic properties can be found. Based on our simulation results, two different crystal formation mechanisms are deduced. The stabilities of the predicted structures at ambient pressure are further assessed by performing phonon or MD simulations. In addition, the electron transport properties of the predicted polymers are obtained using the non-equilibrium Green's function technique combined with density functional theory. The results show that the polymers have metallic-like I-V characteristics.  相似文献

A new apparatus based on a synthetic method was developed for phase equilibrium measurements. The characteristic features of the apparatus are its light weight (ca. 288 g), variable-volume with a free piston, position sensing device for the piston, precise pressure and temperature control, and a window for visual observation. The inner volume of the cell can vary from 2.5 to 8.8 cm3. The cell was constructed from titanium so that the composition of the sample can be determined by direct weighing of the cell. The apparatus was designed for temperatures up to 473 K and pressures up to 25 MPa.  相似文献

2,3,4,5,6‐Pentafluoro and 4‐trifluoromethyl 2,3,5,6‐tetrafluoro styrenes were readily copolymerized with methyl methacrylate (MMA) by a free radical initiator. The copolymers were soluble in tetrahydrofuran and acetone. The films obtained were transparent and flexible. The glass transition temperatures (Tgs) of the copolymers were found positively deviated from the Gordon–Taylor equation. The positive deviation could be accounted for by dipole–dipole intrachain interaction between the methyl ester group of MMA and the highly fluorinated aromatic moiety, which resulted in a decrease in the segmental mobility of the polymer chains and the enhanced Tg values of the copolymers. The water absorption of PMMA was greatly decreased by copolymerization of MMA with the highly fluorinated styrenes. With as little as 10 mol % of pentafluoro styrene content in the copolymer, the water absorption was decreased to one‐third of that for pure PMMA. The fluorinated styrenes‐MMA copolymers were thermally stable up to 420 °C under air and nitrogen atmospheres. With 50 mol % of MMA in the copolymer, the copolymer was still stable up to 350 °C. Since these copolymers contain a large number of fluorine atoms, the light absorption in the region of the visible to near infrared is decreased in comparison with nonfluorinated polymers. A high density mark edge recording method on a phase change rewritable disk is reported. A carrier-to-noise ratio of 55 dB for a mark length of 0.55,μm is obtained by using a 680 nm, NA 0.6 head and a phase change rewritable disk. In mark edge recording, it is necessary to record each mark in correct length. A new laser power modulation pattern is proposed. This pattern consists of a first-pulse, a multi-pulse chain and a last-pulse. Both positions of the first-ptilse and the last-pulse are movable. By adjusting these positions, a jitter, σ/Tw (Tw is window margin), is improved to 6.5% in high density EFM (Eight to Fourteen Modulation) recording of 0.4 μm/bit.  相似文献

Proanthocyanidins, known as condensed tannins or oligomeric flavonoids, exist in many edible plants and show various interesting biological activities. We have developed a simple and versatile method of synthesizing procyanidin oligomers consisting of (−)-epicatechin and (+)-catechin. This method is applicable to the synthesis of various 3-O-substituted oligomers. We report here the stereoselective and length controlled synthesis of [4-8]-condensed (−)-epicatechin series procyanidin oligomers. We described the details of the synthesis of an two tetramers, (−)-epicatechin-(−)-epicatechin-(−)-epicatechin-(−)-epicatechin and (−)-epicatechin-(−)-epicatechin-(−)-epicatechin-(+)-catechin (arecatannin A1), (−)-epicatechin pentamer and two 3,3″,3?-tri-O-galloyl trimers, (−)-epicatechin-(−)-epicatechin-(−)-epicatechin-3,3″,3?-tri-O-gallate and (−)-epicatechin-(−)-epicatechin-(+)-catechin-3,3″,3?-tri-O-gallate with the condensation method using TMSOTf as a catalyst. The ability of DPPH radical scavenging activity and DNA polymerase inhibitory activity of these oligomeric compounds were investigated.  相似文献

We present molecular dynamics simulations of a realistic model of an ultrathin film of BaTiO3 sandwiched between short-circuited electrodes to determine and understand effects of film thickness, epitaxial strain, and the nature of electrodes on its ferroelectric phase transitions as a function of temperature. We determine a full epitaxial strain-temperature phase diagram in the presence of perfect electrodes. Even with the vanishing depolarization field, we find that ferroelectric phase transitions to states with in-plane and out-of-plane components of polarization exhibit dependence on thickness; it arises from the interactions of local dipoles with their electrostatic images in the presence of electrodes. Secondly, in the presence of relatively bad metal electrodes which only partly compensate the surface charges and depolarization field, a qualitatively different phase with stripelike domains is stabilized at low temperature.  相似文献

Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) beams of various higher-order radial modes are generated by using a reflective phase-only liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) spatial light modulator (SLM). Because of the LCOS SLM's phase-modulation characteristic of a wide spatial bandwidth, a phase modulation scheme effectively generates higher-order LG beams of up to the fifth-order radial mode. We also perform correlation analyses between the observed and the theoretical two-dimensional mode profiles to universally obtain correlation coefficients of more than 0.946, which suggest mode generations of high quality.  相似文献

An experimental study has been made of saturated boiling heat transfer for water and R113 in a narrow vertical rectangular channel (2 mm space, 20 mm wide, and 200 mm long) at atmospheric pressure, in which the vertical heated surface (10 mm long and 20 mm wide) is located on one side at a position of 150 mm from its entrance and bubbles are forcibly passed through it at a designated period from 0.33 to 1.0 sec. The experiment shows that the heat transfer coefficients are increased by the bubble passing through the heated surface for the value of thermal diffusivity,a, times period, T0, of the passing bubbles above about 6×10–9 m2 (a T 0>6×10–9 m2) while fora T 0< 6×10–9 m2, the heat transfer coefficients become independent of the period and the effectiveness of the enhancement of the heat transfer owing to the passing bubble disappears.
Die obere Grenze der Verbesserung des Wärmeübergangs beim Sieden in einem vertikalen, rechteckigen Kanal infolge von aufsteigenden Blasen
Zusammenfassung Es wurden Experimente über den Wärmeübergang beim Sättigungssieden mit Wasser und R113 in einem engen, vertikalen, rechteckigen Kanal (2 mm Abstand, 20 mm Breite und 200 mm Länge) bei Umgebungsdruck durchgeführt, wobei die vertikale, beheizte Oberfläche (10 mm lang und 20 mm breit) auf der einen Seite in einem Abstand von 150 mm vom Eintritt angeordnet ist und die Blasen zwangsweise durch den Kanal sich mit einem Periodenabstand von 0,033 bis 1,0 s bewegen. Das Experiment zeigt, daß die Wärmeübergangskoeffizienten durch das Vorbeistreichen der Blasen an der beheizten Oberfläche verbessert werden, wenn das Produkt aus Temperaturleitfähigkeit,a, mal der Periode, T0, der vorbeistreichenden Blasen größer als 6×10–9 m2 liegt, während unterhalb dieses Wertes der Wärmeübergangskoeffizient unabhängig von der Blasenperiode ist und die Effektivität der Wärmeübergangsverbesserung infolge der Blasenströmung verschwindet.

The study on the absorption of toxic gases such as mustard gas by organic host is essential to the development of inexpensive detection and decontamination equipments. Using quantum chemical methods, we propose cucurbituril as an effective host to capture mustard gas. It was found that stable complexes are formed with the inclusion of the toxic gas molecules inside the cucurbituril cavity, compared with the lateral and exterior interactions. Oxygen mustard has a comparable binding energy with sulfur mustard and hence can be used during experimental investigation. Additionally, during the inclusion complex formation, the presence of heteroatoms helps the guest molecules to undergo a larger structural reorganization to get accommodated inside the cucurbituril macromolecule. Atoms‐in‐molecules analysis shows the existence of strong intermolecular CH…O bonding between the guest molecules and cucurbituril macromolecule. The presence of an intramolecular CH…Cl type of bonding accounts for the higher stabilization of sulfur mustard inside the cucurbituril macromolecule. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献
