We derive some rigorous results on the chiral phase transition in QCD and QCD-like theories with a large number of colors, N(c), based on the QCD inequalities and the large-N(c) orbifold equivalence. We show that critical phenomena and associated soft modes are forbidden in flavor-symmetric QCD at finite temperature T and finite but not so large quark chemical potential μ for any nonzero quark mass. In particular, the critical point in QCD at a finite baryon chemical potential μ(B)=N(c)μ is ruled out, if the coordinate (T, μ) is outside the pion condensed phase in the corresponding phase diagram of QCD at a finite isospin chemical potential μ(I)=2μ. 相似文献

A Mössbauer study was performed to find the fraction of non-bridging oxygens in potassium borate glasses containing a small amount of iron. The borate glasses with alkali contents of 15, 20, 25, 30 and 40 mol% were irradiated with 60Co-γ rays at room temperature in a nitrogen atmosphere. The Mössbauer absorption area for the irradiation-induced Fe2+ increased with the total γ-ray dose in the range of 1 × 106 ?2 × 108 R, and became constant after irradiation ranging from 2 × 108 R ? 1 × 109 R. The absorption area for the Fe2+ at the saturated region was correlated with the difference in the glass structure, i.e., the fraction of the non-bridging oxygens was estimated from the increased absorption area for the Fe2+ as a function of the alkali content of the glasses. The fraction of the non-bridging oxygen increased with the alkali content of the glasses in the alkali region above 20 mol%, and about 14% of the fraction was obtained for an alkali content of 40 mol%. 相似文献

We propose a subwavelength imaging system without a lens or a mirror but with an array of metallic nanorods. The near-field components of dipole sources were plasmonically transferred through the rod array to reproduce the source distribution in the other side. We calculated the field distribution at the different planes of imaging process using the finite-difference time-domain algorithm and found that the spatial resolution was 40 nm given by the rod size and spacing. A typical configuration is a hexagonal arrangement of silver rods of 50 nm height and 20 nm diameter. We also show that the image formation highly depends on the coherence and the polarization of the source distribution and the source-array distance. 相似文献

A single crystal of gadolinium-doped SmAl(2) has zero magnetization in the midst of the ordered temperature region, despite the probable ferromagnetic spin ordering. The asymmetry in Compton-scattering intensity when switching between right- and left-handed polarization of incident 150-keV synchrotron radiation provides decisive proof that ferromagnetic order is really there, and that spin and orbital magnetic contributions cancel. The experiments also show that the spin direction at this zero-magnetization state is rather stable against the external magnetic field and, nevertheless, reversible by a preceding control of temperature and an external field. 相似文献
