Ultraweak Luminescence Generated by Sweet Potato and Fusarium oxysporum Interactions Associated with a Defense Response

Abstract— Ultraweak luminescence generated by sweet potato and nonpathogenic Fusarium oxysporum interactions associated with a defense response was detected by a photoncounting method using ultrahigh-sensitive photodetectors. The time-dependent intensity variation, the spectrum and the two-dimensional imaging of the ultraweak luminescence are indicative of the defense response of the sweet potato to F. oxysporum. The production of ipomeamarone as a phytoalexin means that F. oxysporum induced the defense response in the sweet potato.     

Synthesis of polydithiourethanes and their thermal,optical, and mechanical properties originated from monomers structure

Polyaddition of various diisothiocyanates and dithiols was achieved with triethylamine in dimethylformamide at 25 °C for 12 h under nitrogen, and then the corresponding polydithiourethanes (PDTUs) were obtained with high yield and molecular weight without depending on the monomer structures, although the dithiol monomer of the low nucleophilicity was unsuitable for polyaddition in this system. The chemical and physical properties of the obtained PDTUs such as solvent solubility, glass transition temperature, thermal stability, transparency, refractive index, and tensile strength, were analyzed in detail by gel permeation chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance, Fourier transform infrared–attenuated total reflection, ultraviolet–visible, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, and tensile testing measurements. These results proved that PDTUs and their cast films having the aliphatic diisothiocyanate and dithiol moieties exhibited excellent chemical and physical properties compared to that of the aromatic PDTUs. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A branch-and-bound algorithm for 0–1 parametric mixed integer programming

A branch-and-bound algorithm to solve 0–1 parametric mixed integer linear programming problems has been developed. The present algorithm is an extension of the branch-and-bound algorithm for parametric analysis on pure integer programming. The characteristic of the present method is that optimal solutions for all values of the parameter can be obtained.     

On global stability of an HIV pathogenesis model with cure rate

In this paper, applying both Lyapunov function techniques and monotone iterative techniques, we establish new sufficient conditions under which the infected equilibrium of an HIV pathogenesis model with cure rate is globally asymptotically stable. By giving an explicit expression for eventual lower bound of the concentration of susceptible CD4⁺ T cells, we establish an affirmative partial answer to the numerical simulations investigated in the recent paper [Liu, Wang, Hu and Ma, Global stability of an HIV pathogenesis model with cure rate, Nonlinear Analysis RWA (2011) 12 : 2947–2961]. Our monotone iterative techniques are applicable for the small and large growth rate in logistic functions for the proliferation rate of healthy and infected CD4⁺ T cells. On global stability of a nonresident computer virus model

In this paper, we establish new sufficient conditions for the infected equilibrium of a nonresident computer virus model to be globally asymptotically stable. Our results extend two kind of known results in recent literature.     

Global stability of a multistrain SIS model with superinfection and patch structure

We study the global stability of a multistrain SIS model with superinfection and patch structure. We establish an iterative procedure to obtain a sequence of threshold parameters. By a repeated application of a result by Takeuchi et al. [Nonlinear Anal Real World Appl. 2006;7:235–247], we show that these parameters completely determine the global dynamics of the system: for any number of patches and strains with different infectivities, any subset of the strains can stably coexist depending on the particular choice of the parameters.     

Effective non-vanishing of global sections of multiple adjoint bundles for polarized 3-folds

Let X be a smooth complex projective variety of dimension 3 and let L be an ample line bundle on X. In this paper, we provide a lower bound for h⁰(m(K_X+L)) under the assumption that κ(K_X+L)≥0. In particular, we get the following: (1) if 0≤κ(K_X+L)≤2, then h⁰(K_X+L)>0 holds. (2) If κ(K_X+L)=3, then h⁰(2(K_X+L))≥3 holds. Moreover we get a classification of (X,L) with κ(K_X+L)=3 and h⁰(2(K_X+L))=3 or 4.
